It is done. Finished. Huge sigh of contentment.
I saved sewing an a few of the pages until the end. Mistake. My sewing machine is a punk, broke 2 needles and ruined a photo.
Wait, I still have to figure out how to label the album. My only complaint about the FJ album, no book plate.

It was so expensive. What album doesn't have a label holder??? I wish I hadn't bought it. I can't find a vertical label holder anywhere in the gold color that is like the corners.

I don't have that specific album, but in the past I've labeled albums that don't have label holders but sticking a dimensional embellishment on the spine with red line tape. For example, there was a rubber piece that said "December Daily" in the paislee press kit in 2017 and I used that to label my 2017 album. I've also used the chipboard numbers to represent the year, so just add the "18" to the spine. I guess it depends on if you just want to label the year or also include that it's December Daily.
I've also seen people attach charms to the rings that hangs over the edge of the spine but isn't actually attached to the spine itself.

I just got my film back from December. So I’m going to start my album sometime soon. My photos came out so great so I’m hoping the excitement of film gets me to at least finish this project. I’m attaching some pics just because.

Thanks for all the inspiration & just general chit chat everyone. I still have about 12 stories that I want to document but I've done more this year, at this time, than in years past and I think this thread is the reason for it! ....now if only we had a birthday card thread. For some reason, I struggle with birthday cards, especially for kids! Hate making them. Cards not kids. I make a lot of birthday cards, mostly for kids. Since I am making them for specific causes, I have to follow certain rules like no glitter, no bling, nothing that could be pulled off. Other groups are not so stringent about embellishments. Maybe my instagram will give you some ideas. Scroll down past the kids' Valentine cards and the nursing home Christmas cards all the way to the bottom to see a lot of kid cards. Once I get through my January causes, I need to design lots of new kid birthday cards to replenish my stash for Ronald McDonald house and to send a big box to Brighter Birthdays. www.instagram.com/pdoyle2178/

Just finished this afternoon! I decided to do all the way till the end of Dec, normally I call it quits by the 26th but it just worked out this year. I definitely needed the FJ kit because there would have been no way to use only a mini kit from AE. I undid use the AE red album so that was ok. Still need more journaling cards and less filler ones (4x6 & 3x4) yay for pp in the FJ kit. But it's done, on the shelf and Christmas supplies are put away.

I finished today, too! Yay!! December Daily 2018 is in the books! Thanks to everyone who posted inspiration and motivation in this thread! It's so much more fun to work on this project along with everyone else. I'm still feeling Christmasy, so I might tackle 2 older DDs that I never finished while I have my supplies out. ecvnj58, your pages are stunning, tfs!

Thanks carolynhasacat. I feel like I really have some mojo this year. Hopping I can continue though and finish. Everything seems to just be coming together. I think printing all on my own really is helping. Congrats on completing your album.

Ren Thanks so much for the photos! I'm a big Carta Bella fan so I'm very familiar with their pattern paper and their "modern white" which they've been including with the more modern collections since 2017-ish. It's a slightly off-white but close enough to true white so it doesn't clash. Very happy to see your photos confirm they chose that "modern white" tint instead of their usual creamy white.
Several of us had discussed wanting more white and no distressed edges on here last year when Steven Duncan's A Very Merry Christmas collection came out and he popped in here (no, really, stevenduncandesigner is a member). I really appreciate the fact that he might have factored in our comments when some design decisions were made for this year's Christmas line.
I'm so glad I didn't spend on official DD goodies: I've got extra scrappy budget left for Santa's Workshop now. Thank you so much for helping me make up my mind, Ren ! Hey there! I just saw your posting. I don't know why I hadn't seen it before. Anyways, thank you for posting your input. I'm trying to not distress my new lines. Some will need it, but I've listened to all your great comments and am eliminating or pulling back on the distressing. I do listen, as does management at CB/EP. Sometimes it takes a long time for things to change because we work about a year out. I'm actually working on next years Christmas right now. I'm glad that you like the off-white/modern-white. When I'm illustrating a design with a lot of white in it I sometimes need another white to make things pop. We spend a lot of time working with our printers to get color correct. Sometimes pics you see online are not color balanced so it's hard to spec true color by screen versions and also printed advertising. I just got back from CHA (I'm old school and it will always be CHA to me) and there are some really good work coming your way. It's such a wonderful show to hang out and see all of the other illustrators that work for EP/CB and competitors. Most of us have been friends for many years and we appreciate each others talents. We get to work in a very nice industry.

Thanks for touching base here, stevenduncandesigner! It’s always nice to hear things from your perspective. Your Christmas line this year was so pretty and fun, and really different from anything else out there! I bought my fair share of it. I just put some finishing touches on my DD traveler’s notebook. I just need to put some paper on the back cover and add my name and date somewhere at the end. It’s still January. Anybody else still working on theirs? Keep going, you can do it!

Just think... if you all made two pages a month starting now, your book would be ready to fill in December.

A heads-up for anyone who took Shimelle's JYC class. She mentioned in the very last minute or so of the latest Fbk Live that she's finally got the last couple of videos the way she wanted them and they'll be uploaded and sent out soon. She didn't forget about us!
