A white man dissatisfied with the out come of the election of a black man using the terms (as a dire warning for voters) not to “monkey this up”—-racist. Especially in conjunction with an ad where he's helping his little daughter "build the wall" out of child's blocks. He's a white nationalist in plain clothes, and he's pissed he's competing with someone so unworthy and invaluable. Ugh...fuck the GOP for all of this.

Yes! It was a good day for us. I'm a little terrified that our Democrat Drew Edmondson is facing Stitt. But I know I'd be nervous if he was facing Cornett, too. I'm just nervous. I'm in a constant state of nervousness. I'm so excited to vote for Drew. What's sad though is that as his age, he was looking around and seeing that if no one else jumped in, he would have to. This guy should be retired and doing whatever the hell he wants. THIS is what public service looks like. It thrills me and breaks my heart at the same time...

Whatever the GOP did to Garland, it doesn’t or shouldn’t matter, because Kanaugh won’t produce the documents asked for. The ‘they did it too’ bull crap doesn’t work for me. But obstruction and lack of co-operation from the NOMINEE does. No senator from either side needs to support a nominee that doesn’t co-operate in the process and produce the necessary documentation. And can we also address the character of someone who WANTS a place on the bench in THIS way? THIS is how you want to get there? Under all these fucked up circumstances? I'm sorry but that to me feels like someone with an agenda, not just a career goal. Exactly!

Jon Cryer...
“Trump is systematically delegitimizing every mechanism that could hold him to account for his bald-faced criminality.
First the press, then law enforcement, now social media. If the next Congress is Democratic, he will try to question the very idea of Congress.”
He may be just an actor but he does have a point. And when you think about it for a second it is frightening.

He's not even worth it - he's weak, cowardly, dishonorable and disgusting. He's uneducated and stupid, and he's trashy. Yet so many look at him and see greatness to the point that our whole system can be tossed out and remade in his image. At least they could have picked someone with a redeeming quality or two.

“This is probably an unpopular view, but I think cherry-picking evidence, at a certain level of severity, is morally equivalent to fabricating evidence.”
I agree. How many times have we seen, on this board, “facts” based on cherry picking/taken out of context to make a point?
And if the person is called on it then we get to read in great detail how we are silencing them because it’s not the accepted view or some such nonsense.

linkFrom ProPublica... Nuclear Safety Board Slams Energy Department Plan to Weaken Oversight
From the article.. “A new Department of Energy order that could be used to withhold information from a federal nuclear safety board and prevent the board from overseeing worker safety at nuclear facilities appears to violate longstanding provisions in the U.S. Atomic Energy Act, the board’s members said Tuesday.”
So the next time a trump supporter boasts that trump is taking care of the little guy, laugh in their face. Because this is yet another example of how trump DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE LITTLE GUY if it gets in his way or his buddies way of making a buck.

“One thing that I see political analysts get wrong all the time. They over-estimate the extent to which Trump supporters know about (or believe) the various Trump scandals. There is simply a gigantic knowledge gap between the politically-engaged subculture and everyone else.”
This is true.

this seems like the next step in the progression of: 'first they came for XXX and I didn't say anything....' 'then they came for XXX and I didn't say anything because it wasn't me...' 'then they came for ____' etc. etc. etc. People with American birth certificates being denied passports and in some cases detained for deportation, and being asked 'do you remember when you were born?' just sounds like something out of a third-world banana republic-- but then again, that's what we are now, I guess.

Yes I know, but they also get a backlash from “fans” who feel they should just stick to acting. for some reason, the idea that "Hollywood" (or as often called "Hollyweird") should just shut up and act really gets under my skin. Who the hell gets to decide who gets an opinion and voice by occupation. When someone says that "actors should stick to acting", "basketball players should keep to dribbling" etc I just want to throw their own occupation in their face as in "and plumbers should stick to plumbing" (or whatever occupation they are in.) Makes no.damn.sense. Agree or disagree at will but silencing someone because of a demographic they are in... somehow that just seems not.right. as in wrong. ad to that POTUS former 'career' as a reality show host... ugh!

There is a big problem when someone is detained and their papers are taken, the papers are gone. IF they have family/friends they cannot find papers at the house. They are GONE! Some people in this area were pickup by ICE pre-dawn, detained. Someone went back into the houses and papers were taken. ICE denies it, but neighbors say different!! How than does someone prove they belong here whether citizen (born/naturalized)/green card or visitor?

MSNBC...
“President Trump announces that he's canceling pay raises for most federal employees that had been set to go into effect in January, citing government budget concerns.”
1. This is generated by the tax cut that only the rich benefitted from.
2. If he is so concerned about the budget then no more trips to his properties except once a year for a vacation of 2 weeks.

and America is winning...again.... "Trump cancels pay raises for federal employees" Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump told lawmakers on Thursday he wants to scrap a pay raise for civilian federal workers, saying the nation's budget couldn't support it. In a letter to House and Senate leaders, Trump described the pay increase as "inappropriate." "We must maintain efforts to put our Nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and Federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases," the President wrote. An across-the-board 2.1% pay increase for federal workers was slated to take effect in January. In addition, a yearly adjustment of paychecks based on the region of the country where a worker is posted -- the "locality pay increase" -- was due to take effect. Trump said both increases should no longer happen. "I have determined that for 2019, both across the board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero," he wrote. Congress has an opportunity to effectively overrule the President's edict if lawmakers pass a spending bill that includes a federal pay raise. The Senate passed a bill this summer that included a 1.9% raise for federal workers. The House's version did not address federal pay. Senate and House negotiators will negotiate a final measure in the coming weeks. Trump's 2019 budget proposal, released earlier this year, included a pay freeze for civilian federal workers. It's not clear if Trump would approve a budget that includes the pay increase; the White House has not issued a formal veto threat of the Senate's bill. In his letter, Trump stressed a pay freeze would not affect the federal government's ability to attract qualified workers, and wrote the government would focus on "recruiting, retaining and rewarding high-performing Federal employees and those with critical skill sets." The implications of Trump's decision on the locality pay increase were not immediately clear. Workers based in more expensive parts of the country are paid higher salaries to compensate for the higher cost of living. In his letter, Trump wrote the locality increase in 2019 would average 25.70% and cost the federal government $25 billion. But he did not say whether the locality adjustments already in place would remain in effect and the White House did not immediately clarify. Pay for military personnel will not be affected by Trump's decree; instead, US troops are due a 2.6% pay increase next year. Trump frequently trumpets the military pay raise while listing his administration's accomplishments. The raise came as part of a massive $716 billion defense spending bill that Trump signed earlier this month. That measure, along with a new two-year federal budget and tax cuts heralded by Republicans, have led to accusations Trump is ignoring the federal deficit, despite promising he would address it as president. The tax plan alone is expected to increase the deficit by $1.4 trillion over 10 years, according to a government estimate. In ordering the raises canceled, Trump cited his statutory authority to adjust pay because of "national emergency or serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare." Yet the President frequently touts a growing US economy, including a strong growth rate for the gross domestic product and low unemployment "These numbers are very, very sustainable -- this isn't a one-time shot," he said last month after figures showed the US economy grew at a 4.1% annual rate in the second quarter of the year. The pay raise matter was the latest in a string of moves that reflect an attempt to rein in spending on federal employees. Trump signed executive orders in May that made it easier to fire federal employees and placed limits on public-sector unions. A judge struck down most of those provisions last week. Reaction on Thursday from Democrats was swift, particularly those from states adjacent to Washington, where large numbers of federal workers reside. "Zero. This seems to be how much respect President Trump has for federal workers," wrote Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Maryland, in a statement. "It is outrageous and hypocritical that after spending billions of taxpayer dollars on unnecessary tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations -- and as the President boasts about the 'great' state of the American economy, that suddenly the White House finds that there is zero money left to pay a minimal cost-of-living adjustment to the patriotic, dedicated public servants." Sen. Mark Warner, D-Virginia, wrote: "Let's be clear: The President's decision to cancel any pay increase for federal employees is not motivated by a sudden onset of fiscal responsibility. Today's announcement has nothing to do with making government more cost-efficient -- it's just the latest attack in the Trump administration's war on federal employees." While the Washington area contains the largest concentration of federal workers, only 1-in-6 civilian employees of the government live in the region. The state with the largest number of federal workers is California, followed by Virginia, the District of Columbia and Texas. States Trump won in 2016 -- including Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio -- also rank high on the list of states where federal employees work. But he thinks that a military parade is in order? Or that he can keep traveling to his businesses/hotels/golf courses/pep rallies at the taxpayer dime? or that he seems to think that no raises plus tariffs are not going to cripple the American workers? Honestly, I think that this is his plan. He plans on completely devastating the American worker. He is going to ensure that they become dependent and subservient to him and his administration. He is going to bankrupt/corrupt/destroy anything and everything that the "normal" working class person enjoys, uses, works for, in order to be able to get them to a point of such despair that they will have to get on board of his trump train. And it is happening right before our eyes. In real time.

I am a bit "ragey" today.
Betsy DeVos is a fucking C*NT. I fucking hate her.
She is making it easier for those who commit sexual assault to have it easier, protecting their education, and making it more intimidating for those who report being sexually assaulted.
I fucking hate her. motherfucker.
"The proposed rules also narrow the definition of sexual harassment to a new Supreme Court standard that says it means “unwelcome conduct on the basis of sex that is so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it denies a person access to the school’s education program or activity.” Under Obama, it was defined as “unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature” that includes “unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, nonverbal, or physical conduct of a sexual nature.”
Accord to the Times’ account, the new rules also say institutions can be held legally responsible only for investigating formal complaints and responding to reports that school officials have “actual knowledge” of happening. A formal complaint is one made to “an official who has the authority to institute correcting measures,” the Times quotes the document as saying, as opposed to a complaint made to a residential advisor in a dormitory.
The proposed rules hold schools responsible only for investigating incidents that take place within their own programs or on their campuses, and not, for example, in an off-campus house where fraternity members live and party. The Obama administration required schools to investigate complaints involving students no matter where they took place.
The proposed DeVos rules would also change a standard that dates back to 2001, that a “school knows, or reasonably should know, about possible harassment.” College leaders have complained that standard was too broad and held them responsible for conduct they knew nothing about. Under the new rules, schools are in violation of the law only if their response to sexual harassment “is clearly unreasonable in light of known circumstances.”
The proposed rules are coming to light at a time when big schools like Ohio State University, the University of Southern California and Michigan State University are coping with serious charges. Members of faculty and staff at the three schools have been accused of failing to protect students from sexual misconduct by coaches and campus doctors, and school leaders are charged with covering up the misconduct."
