You might not consider this racist but it is. Did you grow up in the USA? Have you not seen black people depicted as monkeys? To use the word monkey in connection with a POC is racist. Andrew Gillum is a POC. ETA: if you are talking about a white person "Monkeying this up" then that has the meaning of making things difficult. But not when your are talking about a POC. You have to take into account the history of this country. Except he didn’t say anything about the candidate. He was talking about socialist policies. On twitter a definition of what “monkeying this up” means popped up. It is a term used by mechanics in the south. When they tell someone they did a crappy job on fixing a car they use the term “you monkeyed this up” meaning they did the job like a black man would. The other term was “articulate” and this is the one that set off bells and whistles for me because I thought he had meant to say “monkeying around”. But once I heard “articulate” I knew it wasn’t meant as a compliment. When you use that term to describe a black man or woman it implies that POC, as a rule, are not articulate.

“Update: Ex-Manafort associate Sam Patten admitted that he helped foreign donors give money to Trump's Inaugural Committee.
Patten enlisted a U.S. citizen to serve as a "straw" buyer to purchase 4 tickets for $50,000, after receiving a check for $50,000 from the firm run by Patten and Konstantin Kilimnik.”
That firm was reimbursed by a $50,000 wire from the Ukrainian oligarch's Cypriot bank account.”
All roads lead to Russia.

Kyle Griffin... “The Star has obtained remarks that Trump wanted off the record about his negations on a trade deal with Canada. The remarks immediately upended negotiations. Trudeau officials saw them as evidence that Trump's team had not been bargaining in good faith.” Very little of what trump does is in good faith... i could have told Trudeau that. There’s a bunch of people in NJ who could tell you Trump does not negotiate in good faith, never has.

“With today’s guilty plea of foreign money being steered to Trump inauguration, let’s remember that Trump raised $107 million for his inauguration (more than Obama’s two inaugurations combined) and much of it is still unaccounted for.”
Rachel Maddow has been trying to figure out what happened to the money that wasn’t used and has been stonewalled when her producers call and ask the committee that question. Once again if they have nothing to hide why aren’t they answering the questions?

I may have misheard Pence This is from the official transcript:
'The President asked me to be here on behalf of a grateful nation, to pay a debt of honor and respect to a man who served our country throughout his life, in uniform and in public office. It's my great honor to be here. In the long history of our nation, only 30 Americans have lain in state here in the United States Capitol rotunda."
But I swore I heard Pence invoke Trump's name several times.
Anyone else??

While you’re certainly entitled to your own opinion, there are many who recognize it for what it is. I’ve been reading commentary from the African American community who seem to be outraged over the use of “articulate” and “monkey this up” as they have (unfortunately) heard these disparaging words throughout their lifetime. So I’m going to agree with those who have experienced these ugly and subtle racist comments, it is a dog whistle, the words were specifically and purposefully chosen, and my white privilege exempts me from saying otherwise/disagreeing.

You have to give trump’s lawyers credit for being so creative. Well yes, yes we do!! How about this? Giuliani preps report to rebut potential Mueller findingsCNN EXPANSION DC 2017 Dana Bash By Dana Bash and Evan Perez, CNN Updated 4:52 PM ET, Fri August 31, 2018 (CNN)President Donald Trump's legal team is preparing a report that will contain sections rebutting a series of potential conclusions special counsel Robert Mueller could reach in his eventual findings, Rudy Giuliani tells CNN. Giuliani, Trump's lead outside attorney, said he is in Washington now working on the report that will include rebuttal sections on everything from collusion with Russia in the 2016 election to fired national security adviser Michael Flynn to obstruction of justice in order to be prepared for what may be included in Mueller's expected report. Giuliani said they don't know what Mueller is up to nor the timing of any special counsel report. But they are working on a rebuttal -- which will serve as a public relations document as much as a legal document -- in attempt to be prepared. ** A source briefed on the rebuttal report by the President's legal team says it is already half completed. ** More at link: www.cnn.com/2018/08/31/politics/rudy-giuliani-robert-mueller-report/index.htmlArrogance? So trump brags about how the tax payer is paying for his ego massaging rallies.
Newsweek..
“DONALD TRUMP JOKES ABOUT TAXPAYERS FUNDING A 'POLITICAL EVENT’ IN WHICH HE PLUGGED HIS GOLF COURSE”
During a stop in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday afternoon, President Donald Trump reportedly bragged that he was traveling to political events for free. He also referenced his nearby golf course.
“It's like a political event and you don't even have to pay for it,” Trump said, according to multiple reporters in attendance and a live stream of the event.
Trump hosted a rally the night before in Evansville, Indiana.
While it may be free for Trump, taxpayers do foot the bill for the campaign-style rallies that he often hosts across the country. The same is true for when he travels to political events for other candidates or to one of his golf courses.
The president also referenced his Charlotte Trump National Golf Club. He then said the press would criticize him for the conflict of interest of promoting his private business through the office of the Presidency.
I actually have investments in Charlotte,” Trump said. “They’ll say, ‘Oh, there’s a conflict of interest.’ The fake news. You know where my club is, right? Trump National. It’s a very big success on Lake Norman. Largest man-made lake in the world, by far.”
(Lake Norman, at 50 square miles, is the largest man-made lake in North Carolina. Lake Kariba, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is 2000 square miles and is in fact the largest man-made lake in the world.)
As of last week, the president had spent 150 of his nearly 600 days in office at a golf club bearing his own name. That is a quarter of his time in office.“
Amazing how trump never lets fact fact get in the way of his narrative.

What! Is this true? How can she still have a job! From another article—(Raw Story) “The secretary of the Republican Committee of Beaver County, Pennsylvania called NFL players baboons for protesting against racism during the national anthem and suggested they go back to Africa. She also whined about reverse racism, reports The Times, and predicted an impending civil war. Carla Maloney posted the comments to Facebook in 2017. “Tired of these over paid ignorant blacks telling me what I should believe in. I will tell you what I believe in and that is our Flag the National Anthem and America period end of story,” she wrote. “You don’t like it here go to Africa see how you like it there. We are all Americans not African American not Hispanic American. WE ARE ALL AMERICAN.” She went on to call the players animals. “Steelers are now just as bad as the rest of the over paid baboons. You respect your flag, country and our national anthem. How many men and women have lost limbs or died to protect this country and you baboons want respect,” she added wrote. “If you want respect you need to earn it and so far you haven’t. Stop watching, or going to a game and paying for over priced food, water and tickets. Let’s see how the baboons get paid when white people stop paying their salaries.”

From The Hill...
“Chip Kohser, chairman of the Republican Committee of Beaver County, told the newspaper that the Facebook posts predate Maloney's time as the secretary of the committee.
"Those comments do not reflect the opinions of the Republican Party as a whole," Kohser said.
Maloney did not respond to the newspaper's request for comment, and Kohser said he instructed her not to make any public statements.
He told the Times that while the executive committee could remove Maloney as secretary, they do not have the authority to remove her as an elected committeewoman.
Committee Chairman Chip Kozher told BeaverCountian.com that the posts would be investigated.
"I will address this with her in the proper manner," he said. "Obviously that banter is not how I believe and is not how I think the Republican Party as a whole believes. I need to hear her side of the story and investigate it myself. Our Executive Committee would then take whatever action appropriate."
President Trump frequently attacks NFL players who kneel, claiming earlier this month that they "wanted to show their 'outrage' at something that most of them are unable to define."
Trump also has called for protesting players to be suspended without pay.
Maloney, an avid Trump supporter, appeared on CNN's "The Van Jones Show" last month to discuss immigration.
She identified herself as a Trump supporter and not a county committee officer.
Maloney said during the discussion that Americans should care for other Americans first, before worrying about undocumented immigrants.
"What about the black community that has one father or one mother?" she asked, according to the newspaper. “

linkChristina Wilkie.... “Whoa. Russian intelligence believed they had "Trump over a barrel" in 2016, @ap reports that DOJ official Bruce Ohr testified to Congress this week. Ohr said he was told this by Chris Steele.” From the AP article... “WASHINGTON (AP) — A senior Justice Department lawyer says a former British spy told him at a breakfast meeting two years ago that Russian intelligence believed it had Donald Trump "over a barrel," according to multiple people familiar with the encounter. The lawyer, Bruce Ohr, also says he learned that a Trump campaign aide had met with higher-level Russian officials than the aide had acknowledged, the people said. The previously unreported details of the July 30, 2016, breakfast with Christopher Steele, which Ohr described to lawmakers this week in a private interview, reveal an exchange of potentially explosive information about Trump between two men the president has relentlessly sought to discredit.” Again all roads lead to Russia.
