joyfulnana, I thought you must be busy, but had no idea how busy you have been. I am so sorry for the loss of your DMIL. Losing a parent is so difficult. Hugs to you and to your sweet DH. Congratulations on the birth of another tiny grandson. What a blessing a new baby is in a family. His name is really cool. Hang in there with all you have going. grammadee, I am envious of your meeting up with justjac. I think the two of you must have such fun together. Have a safe trip. I hope you are able to adopt the new dog. Your other dog would be less lonely. patin, your wedding photos are gorgeous. What a beautiful DGD and it looks like she got a great man, too. Those photos will be fun to scrap. I hope I get some from our wedding soon. However, I still have photos from DGD#1's wedding and DGS's wedding to scrap. I have been doing a lot of scrapping, but it's in short bursts between appointments and errands. I have felt a bit overwhelmed as I realize that DH can't just run to Home Depot, or to pick up a sprinkler part without me. I finally made the choice to give up my Reading Tutoring at the school. It was a hard decision because I love it, but I figure there is a time and season for everything and this is just not the season. I also thought I would have to give up our Card Club that has been going for exactly 10 years this month. We now have a recovery meeting that night. They voted last night to change the night of Card Club so that I can still come. Our Addiction Recovery commitment is over in Feb but we can extend if we want. We love it, but 3 nights a week is wearing us "old folks" down. I think we will eventually get into a rhythm and find that we are not any busier, we are just always together. DH is taking the blindness in stride. I know it's hard for him, but he has a good attitude and appreciates my taxi service. Enough whining! We are heading off to lunch with an old friend. Should be fun. Have a great weekend, everyone.

woodysbetty- you have fallen off the 2nd page. Time to let us know what you are up to! nylene- what a treat to be able to visit your sisters! grammadee- happy you are adopting...hope it goes well. lisadv- thinking of you and hoping you find a house you love kellyr21 new a/c ...cool at night...that is a very good thing! I sleep much better in a cold room with lots of blankets. misliz enjoying all your layouts...you are a scrappin sensation. justjac hope your hip is better and you enjoy your new table. joyfulnana "Avengers Live was a success"...yeah...happy grands, happy grandmother! justlisa7 my sympathies on your loss and congratulations on the new member of your family patin beautiful girls... thanks for showing us! Ending week 3 of construction and trying to stay calm. Going very slow now. Come to work late, take a long lunch, don't come back after lunch...outside talking on the phone and on and on....y'all know what I'm talking about! I'm on my last album of wedding pics...the pocket page album where I'm stashing all the pics I didn't use. I have spent hours arranging them and it is hard. I'm going to have to apologize to all the pocket page scrappers that I thought were taking the easy way out for all these years. But It is different and I am enjoying the challenge. What do y'all think is the perfect ratio of pictures to cards on these pages? So far, I'm trying to do one card on a page and the rest pictures.
As you can see, my back yard is a mess and den has not changed much from last picture. There is sheetrock on the ceiling now, he did that today and yesterday:

nylene, I think you got me confused with justlisa7. It was her MIL that died, but I would gladly take another GS. Lunch in Salt lake sounds fun! I'm sorry to hear that about your DH. I didn't know he had recently been declared legally blind. @elaynef, I agree pocket scrapping IS hard! I just can't get mine to look the way I have it envisioned in my mind. I usually use at least a couple of cards or three. I like having the balance and I like the cards too lol. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good Sunday afternoon, Pokeys! nylene , it's sad you have had to give up your tutoring; I know that brought you joy. But it is wonderful that your card making friends have voted to change their meetings to accommodate your schedule. You will need those little breaks that are just about YOU. I hope your construction crew gets its act together @elaynef . That is really frustrating when all you want is for it to be DONE! I hope house hunting went well, LisaDV . Can't wait to hear all about it! How is that baby, justlisa7? Can't wait to see PICTURES!!!! Had a good visit with justjac on Friday. The day didn't quite turn out the way I had expected, b/c the weather went a little crazy just as I was getting into town. Ended up heading home early, but the good news (for me) was that justjac came home from work early as well, so we were able to meet for lunch instead of supper. Our hunt for a dog is still ongoing. I stopped at the SPCA on Friday. They had a VERY lively almost year old Labrador, but I didn't think she would be a good fit for us. Way too much energy. Have not heard back about the dog we applied for on line. Here are four more pages I finished this morning. Hope you are proud of me for using my Silhouette on the apple picking ones. typhoon lagoon 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr typhoon Lagoon by apple picking by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Gramma Dee, on Flickr I will be claiming another point for meeting the Pokey Peas challenge again. Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful!

Hi Pokeys, I'm so excited to be able to scrap tomorrow! Everyone has been so needy for me over the last couple of weeks that I've really fallen behind on those sketch challenges. This morning I was supposed to drive DD20 back to college but her friend took her instead, and I was supposed to take DD15 to a friends house two towns over but she cancelled, so I used today to do the weeding I was planning for tomorrow. So, for tomorrow, I plan to be incredibly achy and unavailable to do anything except scrapping. nylene, I'm glad to hear he's adjusting to the blindness without giving in to anger or depression. Do you have any good news about the cancer treatments yet? @elaynef, I'm so looking forward to seeing some "after" photos soon. You have such beautiful high ceilings in that room. Hang in there! justlisa7, baby pages are so much fun - I bet you have so many photos that you'll be set for scrapping for a long time! Everyone have an easy week I'll see you around the boards

joyfulnana, I would gladly ship you loads of snow if I could each winter. Last winter was really mild, but usually once the snow starts sticking you don't see ground again until the spring thaw. Once in the last few years it was at least 3' deep off the plowed path. Happy belated birthday to your dgs! justjac, how's your hip? grammadee, I'm so sorry about your dog! Hugs! Yes, my MIL lives close to the area we're moving. She is a person that you have to keep an arms length of boundary on at all times. She is undiagnosed ?bi-polar from her behavior. We will also be an hour and half outside of Chicago which is where the rest of dh's family lives. Good luck on your new old dog search. justlisa7, Hugs! I'm so sorry about your MIL! How awful! And then to come home and have your new grandson. How exciting! You will be on an emotional roller coaster! So glad baby is doing well and is home. patin, amazing photos. Your dgd is beautiful. nylene, I'm glad Steve is taking the blindness well. I'm sure have a wonderful, supporting wife helps a lot in that. I'm sorry that you had to give up your reading tutoring position. I know how much that meant to you. But as you say, there is a time for every season. I'm happy that your card club decided to meet on another night so you could take part. @elaynef, hugs to you as you deal with construction nightmares. I feel for you. I really, really do. Also, I have a much, much harder time on pocket pages than on a traditional page. I think the ratio depends upon the photos and how busy they are. I range from 0-5 pocket cards, with 2-3 being normal. It always takes me so long to finish a packet page where a normal layout I can be finished within 2 hours easily, usually 1. msliz, I hope you got a day to scrap and that those weeds got pulled. woodysbetty, sending you big bear hugs! I hope you are letting yourself grieve. We have an 18 yo cat that has been struggling the last couple of months and the conversation is started about putting her down, but it's so hard. Now, DH doesn't want DS to associate the move with her death. I have to feed her meat baby food. She can't control herself anymore. I keep plastic on all of her sleeping surfaces. She will pee and lay in it. She loves being in the shower, so at least that helps. When we came home Friday evening, I went to change the pads that we keep out for her and she came and peed on my shoe. Gross, yes, but worse, my foot was still in it!! Yeah, go ahead and laugh, because everyone else in my family did after an 'eeww!'. I found my almost dream house! Absolutely felt like home every time I walked in the door. Upon our 2nd viewing, dd was almost in tears at the idea of me getting it. She said it's not a house where you can cut loose. No fart jokes at the table. (Yeah, that might be a good thing in my mind!) So, of course, I could not get the house. I have cried way more than I should over a silly house. There are issues like only 1 full bath. 3 half bath, but only 1 full. The heat is a boiler, which makes me uncomfortable. There is asbestos in the house. It's well maintained and not disturbed, but if we ever want to have it removed.... If you go 2 blocks one way, it's not a great neighborhood. But the house itself... I just sent the realtor my spreadsheet. I told him the neon greens were must sees, and the dark greens were if we're going by the area. He even through in a lot of our yellows which were no's for us. Unfortunately, we'd already wasted much time on them before I realized and took them out of the rest of the search. However, it did give us a good flair for the area and now we need to decide where we want to live and what we want. There's a subdivision with lots of kids: Great for now, but DS graduates in 3 years, and DD in 5. Then what? Do I want to live in a subdivision for the next 15 years when my kids will be gone in 5? There is the Riverfront townhouse community. Great summer activity, especially when dh can get a boat down the road. I could see being there after the kids move out. No, yard upkeep. We have the farm for that anyway. Then there is the downtown houses: they are smaller and not as nice (well at least what we can afford), but we could walk to Lake Michigan and to the downtown shop area. I could see living there after the kids move out too. DH is spazzing out and can't even discuss it. So... ?? Although we got home Friday evening, I could not get motivated to participate in the Sketches or challenges over the weekend. Now it's the school week, so... I guess, so.... is my mantra this week. So... I hope everyone is having a great week and I hope that I will get some mojo going for later this week.

Hey all and happy Tuesday! Had a nice weekend. I went to M's and made a autumn wreath in their class. I'll take some pictures and post it for you to see. I wanted to make a larger one but their selection was limited. So mine turned out small and cute. I see you all have been busy crafting and dealing with life stuff. My thoughts and prayer go out to all of you who had had losses and illness. Sending a big ole HUG! Hang in there! nylene- So glad you were able to hang out with your sisters. You have a lovely family and I know you enjoyed the laughter and love. Glad too that your card group changed the date so you can still go. That was very nice. Keep taking care of you, Nylene! patin- Your dgd's wedding pictures are beautiful! What an attractive family you have. I just love weddings! LisaDV- Thanks for the wall heater advice. I tried a couple of ideas but nope. So on the plan b and c. LOL! Oh boy, you are really in house shopping mode. I know the perfect house for y'all is out there and I hope you find it soon. Sounds like you got some good options. Glad you can keep the farm. Well you be far from the farm in your new town? Waving hi to you all and have a good evening!

grammadee I think that's awesome that you and justjac get to hang out and crop together. I wish I had some scrappy people close by. msliz I hope your "aches" worked and you got to spend the day doing nothing but scrapping! justlisa7 can't wait to see your pages of the new little one! DGS is pretty much all I've scrapped lately, but he's 4 now. Holy cow, he's 4 already and I haven't scrapped him enough! lol kellyr21 I would love to see the wreath. I bet it IS cute! I never think to see what classes they are offering. Too busy shopping for paper instead lol. LisaDV I'm so sorry you are having a hard time finding a house you all love. It sucks to find the one YOU want, but not have everyone else love it too. I hope you find one that everyone can agree on that you love just as much as this one. nylene I hope you are having a good week! @elaynef how long before your house it back to normal? It's hard living with things so torn up. Even if the end result is going to be great. I have completely made a mess of my kitchen with dinner, and once that's done I will post my projects for the month and my final sketch for sketchtember and then if I'm not completely brain dead try to stay up too late starting another layout. I swear, joining in the team challenges has me wanting to do nothing but scrap again. Like it was when I first started years ago! Have a good evening!

Hello, everyone. Hope all is well. Glad to see so many of you are signing up for an October Team. Love seeing everyone's work. If you are thinking of making cards this next month, there will be a card challenge every day, with points to be earned if you are on a team. Of course, anyone can play along with any of the challenges, whether you are on a team or not. Thinking of you, justlisa7. Hope you are taking some time to look after yourself as well as looking after everyone else. Would love to see your wreath, kellyr21. I made one with a BoBunny kit and a coat hanger a few years ago, but have not pulled it out of the tub this fall. I understand the aches and pains, msliz. We dug our potatoes out of the garden yesterday, and I am feeling a bit achy myself today. And I stayed in the house and played with paper, rather than volunteer to do anything else out there today. Too bad you didn't immediately find the home of your dreams, LisaDV. I think that you could have overcome your dd's worries about that home being too formal, but the structural issues were a completely different story. I hate moving, and haven't moved for 30 years, but I am really glad that when we planned this house we did it for our lives at the time, so that our kids could have the best home possible while they were growing up. Who knows, in five years, there may be a different job offer. Or you may have made friends on that kid friendly street, and find you like spending time with them even after the kids are gone. Hopefully the next trip will be more successful. Too bad your dh didn't get a job in this neck of the woods: justjac's dh has a lovely home for sale. We could get together and play with paper! Hard to believe that September is almost over. Our garden is almost cleared off. Tomatoes are ripening in the basement. I need to pick up lasagne making supplies when I am in town tomorrow. Seeing the doctor with the hope he can give my knee another shot of cortisone. It is not so bad I can't walk, yet, but it is not behaving itself.

Just a note to let you know I haven't forgotten about this site. I had a stomach bug hit me yesterday and I have spent the whole day sleeping today. I am feeling better now. I am behind on reading and commenting, but plan to catch up soon.
I was going to take my friend to the Echo Park sale this a.m. and had to call to cancel. I later got a call from her that the bug hit her about an hour later. Maybe there was a reason we weren't supposed to go. We saved a lot of money.

Oh nylene, I hope Steve doesn't catch that bug too. Please stay hydrated and feel better soon! LisaDV, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat and your house hunting struggles. Hang in there! I have no doubt you'll make good decisions regarding both. grammadee, I'll be making a lasagna too, for tomorrow night's dinner. It's finally cool enough outside to make me want to turn on the oven. I hope the doctor agrees to give you your shot. If you show him your to-do list with the rest of your gardening chores, you should have no trouble convincing him to give it to you! joyfulnana, I've really been enjoying your layouts of your grandson, especially the "werking" page. Too cute! We'd all love to see photos of your wreath kellyr21, and of the new baby justlisa7, when you each get the chance! I think we could all use a few happy distractions I can't believe this month is almost over. There's too much to do and no time to do it all!

nylene I hope you are feeling better soon! I know I would for sure have saved a lot of money, I'm sorry you missed out going. grammadee I agree with msliz show the doctor your list and I'm sure he give you the shot! Have you had any luck finding a new dog? msliz thank you! He is so dang photogenic and funny and I love scrapping him. I get to do all the pages I didn't do for my boys since they were teens when I started scrapping and my memories were fuzzy. I'm going to give a last push this weekend and see if I can get at least one more layout done. I'm ready for colder weather, I'm so over the heat. This week it's finally cooled of and I'm so glad!

I had a long post written when DH came in and wanted me to show him how to print something. Sure enough, it's gone. I will try again. justlisa7, I am sorry that I typed the wrong name on my comment to you. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your husband and family are doing well. Congrats on a new baby. What a blessing. I can't wait to see photos. msliz, I had to laugh at your plan of being too sore to do anything but scrap. You are one clever cookie! I have loved seeing your layouts. grammadee, you are really rocking the challenges and sketches. I don't know how you do it all. Do you ever sleep? Your lasagna sounds good. Maybe that's what I will make next week. Have you heard anymore about your dog you applied for? joyfulnana, thank you for the posted sketches. We are glad that you have joined the Pokey Peas. When there aren't challenges going all over the board we tend to be much more Pokey. Four projects a month is my normal scrapping. Thanks for posting your projects here too. kellyr21, I want to see your wreath. Is it going to be hung outside on a door or is it an inside decoration. I'm glad you have found some Michaels classes that you enjoy. I am sure it is beautiful. LisaDV, I have thought of you every day in your house hunting and decision making. I'm sorry about your kitty. I did say "ew" as I read! Hope things work out ok in that department. Your family is in my prayers for finding the perfect place where your family can thrive. Waving to each of you. I hope to catch up a bit tonight and tomorrow. I am feeling much better and so is my friend...so we went to the EP sale this morning. I kept telling myself, "you don't need paper, you don't need paper." I came home with just a little paper and a few embellishments. No damage done. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Wow, LisaDV. Glad you had time in this busy month to play. Will leave you some love in the Gallery. So sad about your cat. When our ds moved, they brought two kittens to us, and had planned to give their older cat to the neighbour, but sadly they had to put him down just before they moved. The kids were sad, but they talked a lot about what a happy long life he had lived. And they kind of think of his spirit still hunting mice on their old acreage. Have you found a home yet, woodysbetty? Hoping to hear from you soon. And hoping for updates on the renovations, @elaynef. So glad your stomach bug was just temporary and you got to shop at the Warehouse sale, nylene. Did you get that fall paper you used on your last pages at that sale? Looks like ep. I wish I lived closer to some of those events: I am jealous! Sounds like it is lasagne season! I am doing mine over two days: cooking the tomatoes while I clean up the kitchen today, then cook the meat and construct and bake the lasagne tomorrow after a more general house cleaning. We always have people in for supper when I am making lasagne. It has become a "thing". I start with fresh tomatoes from our garden. Then I add onions and peppers and ground beef and cottage and mozza cheese. What do you put into yours, msliz and nylene? Still waiting for baby pic's from justlisa7 and wreath pic's from kellyr21. And have you been able to start scrapping the wedding photos yet, patin? No luck so far on the dog hunt. One of the dogs we were interested in was adopted already. The other, I think, will be kept by the people who are fostering her now. Sounds like they have a real bond with her. Nothing else yet, but still hoping...
