I am cutting out leaves that have veins impressed in them. I think they would look better is the veins were colored in some way. How can I do this? I tried a thin tipped marker, and it did not look good to me. Any ideas? Thanks!

You could try rubbing the the raised areas lightly with a mini ink pad in a color that’s similar but darker. I love Colorbox cat’s eye inks for that because they’re not too wet.

Take a water based marker (not a copic or a sharpie) and run it over the part of the die that is meant to do the embossing. Then cut it out. Work quickly, "huffing" your breath onto the die if you fear it is drying a little. Hopefully, when you run the die through, the ink will transfer. You should be able to then clean the die with a baby wipe (although whereas I let my stamps air dry, you might wipe off the die with a wipe and then dry on a paper towel so that no moisture remains on the die).

the vein part is not raised, it is embossed into the paper. So, the veins are the lower part, the leaf itself is raised. If that makes sense.

I'm thinking this will work - I remember Gina K doing something similar to color the frame on a spellbinders die. Inking it with a waterbased marker and then running thru a Big Shot. The trick is, you want to hit only the veins of the leaves and not the area around them. Probably the best way to do that would be to ink up a brayer and use that to ink up the die; then you should be hitting only the cutting edge of the die.
