My husband doesn't really care. As long as the bills are getting paid, and he can buy toys for his man cave without me complaining (which I don't ever do ), then I can shop as much as I want. Usually, I stock up on grocery store items when I see a good deal. I just can't pass up a good sale or clearance deal. But every once in a while, I treat myself to something. Like this week, I ordered a new Dirndl dress. It's supposed to be delivered today. The price tag was pretty steep. He won't care, because he's has been asking me to get a Dirndl for years, LOL. I had to google Dirndl dress. I learn something new everyday here. I bet that looks cute on you! You should post a pic when it comes in!!!

Dh has no idea what I spend on the dogs - food, toys, training classes, entry fees for shows/trials, parking at shows, titles

But I do have my eye on a new pair of boots that are a little pricey. I just can't see going through another season in boots that hurt my feet. (RIGHT!?!) Right!! No sense in that! I say buy the boots.

First marriage my husband made me sit down with him every Sunday and go over my checkbook. Can you say painful?
Second marriage I refused to co-mingle funds. I never wanted anyone to look over my shoulder again.
I am single now, after second husband died, and I love the freedom where I can do whatever I want and only have to answer to myself.

Skin care, hair care, makeup, clothes. My DH hasn't said anything but my 6year old has said, "You need to stop ordering stuff. That it probably why you don't have any money". To be fair, he thinks that just because I don't have cash, it means I have spent all of my money on things online. lol

While I haven't scrapbooked in years, it still makes me cringe to think about the thousands of Dollars that I spent on this hobby. For years, I spent every weekend scrapbooking, but now I just can't seem to find the time. Also, I used to buy multiples of each product, especially patterned paper, for fear it wasn't going to be available anymore. Over the years, I donated thousands of Dollars worth of scrapbooking supplies to the Ronald McDonald house. But I also ended up throwing a lot of it out. And I still have a scrapbook store worth of supplies at home. :-)

My DH literally believes that all humans need only two pairs of shoes, so I can hardly take anything he thinks or says seriously, right? That being said, clothes and shoes, baby, clothes and shoes!

I don't hide purchases from him, but we generally have a don't ask, don't tell policy. I usually only mention to him what I paid for something if I got a great price.

We would set up after dinner on Friday night and scrap until 11-12 then she would come back over the next day around 9 and we would go until 9 or later. We would set DD up with a movie, take a walk or two, she would do her own crafts and she would "help" us some too. It was really a lot of fun and even dd mentioned how we used to scrap. I miss those days!! Now that I'm remarried that room has been split between us but I have no time to scrap anymore but I just cannot bring myself to get rid of my "good" stuff. I've donated tons of supplies, too. I even had a huge r'maid tote with paper and who even knows what else. I keep saying, "after I get through xyz mom and I will get back at it" but it just never happens. I really wish we would tho. I do have a perfect set up for it. No reason we shouldn't!

Right now...organizing/storage containers for our 2 pantries, laundry room and master closet!!! I bet I spent $750-$1,000 THIS WEEK. I started out small—tried out a few different containers from Home Goods and a set from Amazon, and once I figured out how it was going to end up, I went hog wild!!!! I measured all the shelves, cabinets and closets before I bought things and started with a plan. Got out my label maker and started my madness. I am waiting for my Amazon order to arrive (scheduled for tomorrow) and my Container Store order (should be here by Monday) and another online company that I found more of the matching containers from HG (haven’t got a tracking yet). I ran to another Home Goods this morning (did not find much of the matching containers) but found the answer to my laundry room needs. I put all my grains, rice, beans, pasta, crackers, cereal, cookies, flour sugars, baking stuff into the sealing/vacuum OXO type containers. I bought the 10” wide x 14” deep (the depth of my pantry shelves) clear fridge bins and put all canned goods, oils, jarred items into those (labeled Mexican foods, oils/vinegars, condiments, jellies, pickles/peppers, etc) I bagged up and priced all my “Lock-n-Lock” plastic storage/food containers that we fridge store/reheat food in and replaced them all with glass containers with lock lids. We are having a big garage sale at a sibling house in October. I bought baskets for my laundry room cabinets so that I could just pull them out to get what I need. Master closet I redesigned a small area —about 2’ wide that had a weird shelf mid way up, as a “vanity” of sorts for my eye palettes and perfume (I wear very little to no make up—just eyes and lips). I repurposed a pretty ornate frame with a mirror that fit into the weird shelf area, and made that into a vanity. I bought 27 of the 18” long clear acrylic shelves for nail polish and installed them down the inside wall of the closet and organized my nail polish collection. I repurposed a tall stool that fit perfectly under the weird shelf and I can sit there to do any girly stuff to get ready. It’s not much but it’s cute and so practical. I bought 30 clear shoe boxes and put shoes into them so that I could stack them on the top shelf that goes around the 3 walls of the closet (minus the door wall), and repurposed the many shelves directly across from the door to display my every growing collection of boots and a few handbags. I’ll probably repaint the interior this winter—something fun in color, as the lighting is bright. And what started this week long reorganization project? A flipping bug!! I pulled out a box of veggie pasta from my smaller cupboard and i could see that it was eaten by those bugs that get into pasta, rice, flour. I freaked the hell out and pulled everything out, tossed a ton of stuff, then decided right then and there to do the vacuum type of containers...the pantry, laundry and master closet were all just a progression from an organization “high” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 My hubby is out of town this week for work—while he knows I’m doing it, I’ve sent pics and talked to him, he’s not asked nor have I volunteered the cost!! (He will eventually see it!) I’m on my last pantry now, just waiting for my orders to arrive, and should be almost done by the time he gets home Friday night. ETA: (after reading one posters post)— I don’t hide anything, he will eventually ask and I’ll tell him. He too will love the end result. We also have an awesome budget—we own no debt at all, pay cash for anything and everything. I’m a price comparison person too—i do my homework! We’ve worked very hard to be very comfortable.

mcscrapper it’s two actually.. Shiseido bioperformance glow revival serum and drunk elephant c-firma day serum. Literally after just a few days use my skin is firmer, brighter, acne scars are less noticeable, and really my skin is radiant. After about 2 weeks my friends were really noticing a difference. So for results like that, I don’t mind shelling out more money. I really neglected my skin before about 3 months ago and the difference is incredible.

I guess I'm lucky in that DH has never cared what I spent on myself or my hobbies. I'm the one who is harder on myself than he could ever be! We both have some expensive hobbies and figure as long as the bills are paid, some money put into savings, the rest of the money is for enjoying life.

Clothes, mostly. It’s not really that I’m hiding it from him. Our deal is that I make sure the bills are paid and savings taken care of first. Then I spend what I think is appropriate, and he reserves the right to gripe about the boxes that show up on the porch.
There’s no hidden debt or unpaid bills or anything like that.

Same. I've recently decided I should probably start taking care of my skin. And I also have revamped my makeup routine. "Fortunately" I made most of my new purchases while I was vacationing in the US while DH stayed on the island where we live. So far he hasn't said anything about my new makeup and skincare but I think he's finally learned it's better for him to just play ignorant. I don't spend money on much of anything, so when I do I don't mind paying more for higher end things. I have one bottle of serum that cost about $80 but it has changed my skin so it's worth it to me. Tell me about this life-changing serum and yes!! I have been wanting to up my skin care game for a few years now. My 70yo mom has amazing looking skin. She has spent some serious money on her skin but she looks better than most 50-somethings. My skin is good but could be better. What foundation have you loved? You really should check out the post scrappysurfer made on the beauty thread last week about her k beauty regimen. I ended up getting several of the products and have been amazed (the shiseido serum was one of them). I seriously started to see a difference in 48 hours, but thought I was maybe just being hopeful. Another day or two later DH even commented and after just 1 week, I am completely sold!

There are multiple peas who do k beauty and we are all happy to share our routines and experiences. What’s awesome about k beauty is that it’s individuaized to your needs, whether it’s hydration or anti-aging or redness or... there’s lots of good blogs and websites, expensive and inexpensive options. Sokoglam.com is a good website and peachandlilly has good options as well.

Don't really care to say KILL , cuz that's an awful expression and I would never stay with someone that would get pissed off and overreact, but we usually discuss any purchase over 50 bucks.

DH doesn't care what I spend. What he cares more about is how much space the stuff takes up. That's us in reverse. I don't care what he spends because I know how frugal he is; I care how much junk he accumulates. We keep money as separate as possible but we do have a rule that if one of us wants a single purchase over $xxx dollars, we talk to the other one. Other than that, I might get a raised eyebrow about how much I've spent on quilting supplies this year but he wouldn't say anything.

As I left for work I spy a package on my front porch. It must be a substitute carrier because the others know to put my things in the SIDE porch so it isn’t as visible. Don’t they know?!
Seriously, I don’t hide anything from DH and he was well aware of my habits before he proposed.

Nothing...I hate spending money on myself so he’s always enabling me to buying things. I guess my most pricey things are my handbags...I don’t buy them for myself..I get one on special occasions (Birthdays, Christmas) so it’s gifts from him..not me buying for myself.

I think my DH would like me to spend a little more on myself. He constantly tells me "We're not that poor!". But my thinking is, why spend more if you can spend less? So I wait for deals a lot, and really don't spend much on myself. I'm not into clothes, shoes, purses, makeup, hair stuff. I do buy a decent number of books, but even with those, a lot of them are used.

I don't hide things and I don't worry about my husband overreacting to anything I buy. Neither does he. We don't always announce what we've spent but we don't have any concerns about telling if asked or seeing a bill. We usually discuss things that come out of the house account or decide together that we are okay using house account money for something out of the norm.
We pool money for the house account and we each have our own accounts. As long as bills are paid, credit cards are paid off each month and we aren't being stupid (like being scammed out of money), we spend our own funds how we want.
I spend a lot on paper crafting, although that's slowing down. I buy a LOT of shoes but I probably spend less than you or he would expect because I get a lot of good shoes on sale or from Zulily. I spend more on clothes, and personal care/makeup but I also buy most of his clothes. We both spend on technology but he spends more than I do. But he's also good about saving up for those expenses because they are anticipated.

My husband bought a speed boat and put half the price of the boat into improvements. Sold it to buy a bigger speed boat that you can sleep on. This question is not something he would even think about asking me. I did get a second dog out of the deal and all of the ____________ I want to buy.
