I've recently rediscovered my inner girly-girl. This has resulted in a lot of recent makeup and skin care products being dropped off on the porch. I dunno how it got there. Dh hasn't said a word but I'm sure he is wondering, "What is all this stuff?" Even I am starting to think I might need to slow my roll. Heck, I even put together a little makeup desk for myself in the corner of our bedroom. I feel very frivolous and I love it!
In all fairness, I haven't spent a ton of money but I'm sure it would be a lot to him.
What is your thing you spend $$ on?

Ha. Back when I was married I was always grateful that my husband didn’t pay any attention whatsoever to what I spent on craft supplies Enjoy your goodies!

I have been on a genetic genealogy quest to locate my bio-father (found him, he's deceased) and his previously unknown bio-father (waiting on final confirmation). This requires the purchase of DNA kits SEVERAL DNA kits...7 in total, plus the monthly Ancestry account and a subscription to Newspapers.com and beenverified.com. The kits alone cost between $50- $100 depending on whether I caught a sale or not!! If my husband stopped to add all this up he WOULD KILL ME!! Luckily, I have almost completed my search so I will be dropping some of the subscriptions and no more kits!

Same. I've recently decided I should probably start taking care of my skin. And I also have revamped my makeup routine. "Fortunately" I made most of my new purchases while I was vacationing in the US while DH stayed on the island where we live. So far he hasn't said anything about my new makeup and skincare but I think he's finally learned it's better for him to just play ignorant.
I don't spend money on much of anything, so when I do I don't mind paying more for higher end things. I have one bottle of serum that cost about $80 but it has changed my skin so it's worth it to me.

I am a purse snob and thats pretty much my biggest splurge. He knows what I spend though & how often I splurge (once a year usually but twice at most) and doesn't say anything though. Otherwise, I am pretty predictable abut what I spend.

fabric...it replaced my scrapbook supplies habit. But at least I am sewing up things, I never got around to much scrapbooking.

This is why we still maintain separate checking accounts for our fun money. As long as bills are paid, savings have been contributed to, and groceries are bought we are free to spend what we please on fun stuff. I tend to make many small purchases and he’s more likely to do a big purchase after saving for a while.
He did get a little wide eyed when I told him I hit diamond status at Ulta which meant I spent $1200.

Vapid Wax and bath & body products--he has an idea because he sees the Vapid boxes arrive, but I don't think he fully realizes.
Same with nail polish...he knows it's a lot but I don't think he fully counting. He's a real enabler though.
I don't hide or need to hide anything and I'm frugal in a lot of other areas so I guess he figures, whatever, you can't take it with you!

Although things are heating up between me and the local Korean bowl company. I can't get enough of their tofu bowls AND they're on Uber Eats. I might need to hide that. Lol

I don’t hide my purchases from DH. We have enough to pay the bills and I’m the frugal one in the relationship. However, I don’t go telling him what stuff costs and he never looks.

Nothing. He's an enabler and talks me into buying things I don't even need. That said, I spend far too much on clothing and shoes. In my defense, I had to replace my entire wardrobe thanks to weight loss this year, and my entire shoe collection due to foot issues. So I was justified. But at some point I probably could have stopped.

I know this is meant to be a fun thread, but the number one reason for divorce is money issues. Two adults in a long time partnership should not be hiding their spending.
I spend a lot of money on a cut & color every six weeks. I don’t hide the cost from DH and if it was an issue in my marriage’s financial health I would find a cheaper alternative. We’ve had a discussion about that specific expense because it’s not an insignificant amount. In the long run I’m frugal in most other areas of life so I don’t feel guilty about the cost. It’s not taking away from bills and savings.

DH doesn't care what I spend. What he cares more about is how much space the stuff takes up.

He never complains but I'm sure he has NO idea how much I'm spending in reality. Let's not add it all up!

My dh doesn't care what I spend. Recently he was out of town on a job and I told him that I may have accidentally bought a new Kate Spade bag. He cracked up and wanted me to send a picture of it to him. I think he was happy that it made me happy.
I think that I would be shocked to find out how much money I spent on scrapping supplies back in the day.

In the past it used to be scrappy supplies and in the last year it was supplies for our RV.
It wasn't that I wasn't telling him because I put it on our joint credit card...he just never bothers to look or if he does, he didn't say anything.
Since we want to retire in 2 - 3 years, I no longer purchase scrappy supplies, in fact, I need to sell the majority of it and I've pretty much outfitted our RV with the exception of doing a major solar installation so we can live off-grid as much as possible.
I've increased my 401K contribution and savings contribution for retirement...I've gotten in the habit of collecting money instead...LOL!

She has spent some serious money on her skin but she looks better than most 50-somethings. My skin is good but could be better. What foundation have you loved?

I think my dh would rather I spend more on myself than to be so cheap I go thru spurts, getting ready to get some new clothes, probably only $150 or so though.

No husband, no SO. Only person who might give me the stink-eye over spending is myself and I don't do it very often I tend to spend a lot on clothes and make-up, skin, and hair products; while I don't buy a ton of those items, what I do buy is expensive. I also spend quite a bit on cycling but I do shop around for the best prices.

Laughing at answers. Dh is the spender in our family. I occasionally try to talk him out of something, but it doesn't do much good. He also buys expensive stuff for me that he thinks I need. Right now he wants to buy me a new phone...he just got one.

We have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy, LOL. I'm frugal in many areas and we live within our means, so it's all good. I just think he's clueless about how expensive clothes, makeup, and scrapbook supplies are!

I would say clothes and makeup (like you, it’s a bit of a new obsession) but I buy it all on a joint CC, so I doubt he doesn’t already know.

When we bought our house two years ago dh spent at least $6-7000 on his workshop and tools. I’ve recently started scrapbooking again after a long hiatus and have bought a lot. I haven’t come close to his spending though. I don’t spend on other stuff at all though.

My husband doesn't really care.
As long as the bills are getting paid, and he can buy toys for his man cave without me complaining (which I don't ever do ), then I can shop as much as I want.
Usually, I stock up on grocery store items when I see a good deal. I just can't pass up a good sale or clearance deal.
But every once in a while, I treat myself to something. Like this week, I ordered a new Dirndl dress. It's supposed to be delivered today. The price tag was pretty steep. He won't care, because he's has been asking me to get a Dirndl for years, LOL.

DH and I are lucky enough to have some fun money. If anything is I'd say $1,000 or more, that usually warrants a discussion, not necessarily asking for permission. I buy clothes, shoes, makeup and skin care stuff along with spa treatments here and there. DH spends all his fun $$ on electronics, car parts, golfing or RV and boat stuff.

We had a stack of boxes at the door yesterday and dh said, "What's all this?" Turns out it was His! LOL. There's no hiding in our marriage. He works a lot and I shop a lot. But I do have my eye on a new pair of boots that are a little pricey. I just can't see going through another season in boots that hurt my feet. (RIGHT!?!)
