Susan Collins is speaking live, going on and on as to why she is going to vote for Kavanaugh. She is coming across as quite the fan girl. I was happily escaping this depressing topic watching Ellen, and Ellen was pre-empted for THIS. I don't get why networks don't get that we need Ellen and that she should never be preempted. Really laying it on thick, huh? I just don't get it.

I'm listening and it's so strange to hear that they all believe Ford, but can't believe that she is telling the truth about Kavenaugh.

And just this for thought: I am a probation officer. Do you know how many people I work with who lie under penalty of felony? ALL OF THEM. And how many others do we know that have lied under penalty of felony? Ugh. Just Ugh.

I just don’t have the stomach or heart to listen to the lies they tell the public and themselves to push this liar through to the Supreme Court. I don't get why networks don't get that we need Ellen and that she should never be preempted. Really laying it on thick, huh? I just don't get it. Amen. Sometimes an hour of Ellen is critical for my mental health.

"I know Senator Feinstein and even before she said it, I knew she did not leak the letter." "Sen Grassley and the committee treated Ford with the utmost compassion..."

Two things I am sure of.
One, Kavanaugh is going to be confirmed. After today, I am sure of this.
Two, it's not over. There were too many witnesses that weren't addressed by the FBI this past week. Just because the witnesses Dr. Ford named didn't confirm the party, doesn't mean it didn't happen. I have little recollection of every gathering I attended in high school in the 80s. I have little recollection of every gathering I attended in college. I do however, remember quite vividly the one where I was assaulted. I doubt anyone else who was there that night would be able to recall that particular gathering, either.
If Dr. Ford were the only one accusing him of assault from so long ago, that would be different. But she is not. I think Ramirez's claim needs to be investigated further, and it doesn't sound like it was. I also said this last week, but I find it hard to believe that Avenatti would take on the client he did if there was no proof of what his client claims.
Too many questions still.

If Kavanaugh is confirmed and the Democrats take the House, it is my understanding that they can impeach him.

I caught a little bit of a discussion on TV that said it's rather unsettled about whether someone can be impeached for acts committed BEFORE they were seated, so it doesn't sound like a definite that that could happen, or be successful.

I imagine that there are oodles of journalists out there right now who are doing everything they possibly can to bring the truth to light. I am comforting myself with that thought.

Well, that is rather an unsettling thought. However, if it can be proven that these incidences of assault happened, then surely he can be impeached for lying during the hearings?

It will be interesting. I would want to know about where perjury during the SJC hearing would fall. He wasn’t seated, but it was during the process to determine his suitability for the position. I think that the White House didn’t allow the FBI to question him again, after the hearing, was to avoid having “perjury to the FBI” added to the list of things he might be impeached for.

And at the very least, why would he not take a lie detector test? His accuser did. I would think the FBI would have at least done that.

They really don't believe Dr Ford but they want votes. Or maybe justification so they can sleep at night. So condescending to Dr Ford and all women who've been assaulted.

I had such high hopes for him and Susan Collins. And Manchin. I've typed so many things and deleted them all. I really have no words other than saying how extremely sad I am. And that is a huge understatement.

Also, it's not just information about sexual assault that's likely uncovered.
A large amount of debt that was suddenly paid off, in addition to a trove of documents that remain to be seen...investigative journalists are on their game. I realize he of course wasn't questioned about the documents or the debt so perjury on those issues won't bite him in the ass on those issues. But he was questioned about the stolen e-mails.
I'm sayin'...he's going to look like a fucking fool in his robe.
(Sorry...feelin' a little riled up.)

We aren't just doomed...we are f*cked if this is truly what our country and our Supreme Court has become.

I do think we have some pretty incredible investigative journalists out there right now, so I do have hope that at some point a story will break through and right this ship. Other than getting out the vote, I’m not sure how else to be hopeful right now.
I am amazed that more attention isn’t being paid to what the NYT uncovered about Trump’s financial history, but we’re in such a crazy place right now, information wise, that maybe that explains that.

What does that guy even know, anyway? I'm sure he's just another Democratic hack. Anyway, I love that now, we are supposed to trust the FBI and the (sham) investigation that DT orchestrated. But we should only trust the FBI on this matter. In all other matters - Benghazi, Russia, etc. - the FBI is part of a vast left wing conspiracy to bring down Donald Trump. MAGA.

Honestly? I think that if Nixon were in the White House today, with this group of people sitting in Congress, nothing would have happened to him. The GOP wouldn’t vote to do anything to him, and he wouldn’t have resigned, because there no longer is much honor or integrity in politics.
