if you go to local news sites.. ktvu.com (tv station).. they will have a list of suggested charities..red cross, salvation army, united way.. 15,000 structures burned only in the Camp fire.. 600+ missing .. more bodies found all the time. so cal fires .. I don't know the figures.. still very bad.
this is on top of over 25,000 people who lost homes to fires over the last 2-3 yrs in our state. I hated hearing the FEMA guy saying.. we're here to help people help themselves. my question is how does a 70 yr old living on social security, who now has no home, no id, no possessions, probably with health issues... how are they able to "pull themselves up?."

Thank you. I will sit down with DH this weekend and see where we can best direct our assistance. We've already decided to send the bulk of our holiday charity donations to the California fire victims this year. Houston appreciates what the nation did for us after Harvey, and we want to give back.

I fear that it goes much deeper than her being a liar. I think the Trump presidency wants to revise and rewrite history. Since day one, Trump has lied. Over and over again. Lies about things where there is photographic, video, or audio proof. Will stand and lie with a straight face to thousands of people.

Jennifer Victor. “Don’t like Pelosi, but can’t quite articulate why? Felt the same way about Hillary Clinton? Time for some deep self-reflection about gender bias and leadership.” So folks got all hostile so she responded “I’m genuinely amazed at how many people felt insulted by this. My comment is specifically directed at people who cannot explain their dislike. If you can, or you like them, the comment doesn’t apply to you.” She is right. One of the easiest things in the the world to do should be to list the reasons why you don’t like someone. I don’t like trump and look, we are on part 20 of trump’s catch all thread and a large number of the posts are mine pointing out why I don’t like the man based on what he said or did. No ambiguity at all. But yet when it comes to these two women it’s like pulling teeth. So I think she may be on to something. And if she is right, shame on us as a country. See, the reasons I don’t like Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton sound silly when compared to the administration we have now. lol j I didn’t like Nancy Pelosi because she speaks without thinking and says dippy things that annoy me. How are women ever going to get ahead when they prop up thier husbands as a figurehead. For allowing herself to be the brains behind his good ole boy figurehead. 25 years later I’m not sure Bill is/was as stupid as I saw him, but I still feel ‘betrayed’ by Hillary for what I felt as a young woman. Because, perhaps Bill is less stupid than I thought he was BUT she IS smarter than him and way more self controlled. I still think HE would never have been President without her. Yet he is definitely part of the reason she is not president for herself. I was even MORE angry with Hillary in 2008 when she stepped aside like a ‘good little Democrat’ ‘For the party’. SHS has a different spin on the result: Of note - the judge didn't actually rule on the 1st amendment issue. He ordered the pass reinstated on the basis of 5th amendment due process rights. But then we all know the Trump administration is not a big fan of due process unless it applies to their court appointees. Amazing how she can easily spin something and create an entirely different scenario from what actually happened. These people must eat, sleep, dream lies every single day of their existence. And, of course, she conveniently skipped this portion of the ruling: "...he did note that Sanders' initial claim that Acosta had inappropriately touched a White House intern was 'likely untrue' and "partly based on evidence of questionable accuracy."

And this is why I call the Democrats the Keystone Cops.. Random comments about the stupidity playing out in the Democrats side of the House. “If it’s not Pelosi it would be Hillary. If not Hillary then Obama. If not them then Soros. Or the UN. Or Al Gore. Whatever. They. Always. Create. A villain.” “Pelosi didn't cost Democrats a single seat. And anyone who thinks that a Pelosi replacement wouldn't get the same right-wing-noise-machine treatment is hopelessly naive. They'll demonize any Dem, and do so in zero time flat. Letting them dictate our leaders is idiotic.” This one “If you give credit to Pelosi for passing the ACA, you also have to put blame on her for not getting a public option.” Prompted this reply.. “Nope she passed a bill with a public option. Blame Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson.” “Pioneering progressive woman is so effective that she becomes the target of decades long character assassination from the right that is so pervasive it becomes internalized by the left. Rinse. Repeat.” But the one tweet I can’t find is where her potential replacement is Steny Hoyer, who is a year olderthan her. Translation: Kick the effective woman out and replace her with an old white guy. Stupidity at its best. I don't understand the hatred towards Nancy Pelosi, other than the aimed rhetoric coming from Trump's camp to diminish her true accomplishments. I honestly am believing that conservative (older) people are fearful of women in power, and they don't think that they could handle it. It IS all stupid!!!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! Sad to say (once again) that DH detests HRC and felt "forced" to "vote against her" in 2016, despite my detailed information on DJT and what a slimeball crook he was (sincerely!). To this date I'm still awaiting a list of bulletpoint reasons why DH detests HRC, just so I could rationalize his feelings for her. Now he's echoed the same sentiment about Nancy Pelosi. Is it that they're both women? Is it that they're older women? DH is 72, so I don't understand it, although he's ALL for new and upcoming politicians and having a constant turnover for fresh perspectives. It's just these 2 older Dems that he detests. I'd love to know the rationale behind it because DH isn't an idiot and he was in "politics" (school board) back in the day in NJ....... When and if I find out the reason behind these feelings about these 2 women, I'll post it.

Pelosi is effective.. and everyone knows that. she is a master politician, and is the daughter of a politician. she holds onto the votes.. and knows her group. so people make her out to be.. another old white woman.. but she is dynamite.. and an easy target to hate. she has those "san francisco values"--like respect, helping those who are poor and hungry and other things typical of a catholic grandmother. she has raised great kids.. and I really respect her, even if I don't agree 100% .. she navigates both the conservative and progressive side of the party.
out here the greatest complaint is that she is too conservative...and cautious.

In an interview with Chris Wallace airing Sunday: "Maybe [climate change] contributes a little bit. The big problem we have is management," Trump told Wallace, appearing to double down on his argument that mismanagement of California's forests was the main contributing factor to the speed and ferocity of the fires.
Why does he even get into this at this time? 63 people are reported dead and 600 missing, untold numbers have lost their homes and possessions. Leave your criticism for some other time. Just yesterday I saw a clip of Piers Morgan, and as some know, he is one of Trump’s consistent defenders. Even he said that if Trump is not capable of empathy for what’s happening to Californians at the moment, he should at least fake it and act presidential.

He does not know what empathy is nor does he care. He surely has no idea how to act presidential nor does he care. The press will be removed from WH press conferences IF they do not act with decorum... and dt shows no decorum in press conferences, particularly the one where he was so rude to Acosta! He tells reporters that their questions are stupid, that they are low life, racist and the list goes on. Where it the decorum in the WH? He calls reporting 'fake news' but he lies numerous times day after day!

Ironically, the aftermath of a mass shooting is never a time to discuss the causes of such events as far as Republicans are concerned. Nope, nothing but “thoughts and prayers” is an acceptable response. And of course, before we have moved past the shooting to a point where we can discuss the causes, there is another mass shooting, and we are back to thoughts and prayers—a vicious cycle. But, if millions are affected by fires or hurricanes, it’s just fine and dandy to point fingers at local (liberal) governments to blame them for the loss of life and property damage. But of course, climate change is off the table as part of that discussion. {Rolling eyes}

Of course, we all know that dt does not believe our intelligence agencies..... but ......... CIA concludes Saudi crown prince ordered Khashoggi murder: report BY JESSE BYRNES - 11/16/18 06:32 PM EST The CIA has concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the country's consulate in Istanbul last month, The Washington Post reported Friday. The agency has high confidence in its assessment, the newspaper reported. The CIA reportedly examined multiple sources of intelligence in reaching its conclusion, including a call between the crown prince's brother Khalid bin Salman and Khashoggi. Khalid, who is the Saudi ambassador to the U.S., reportedly told Khashoggi, who was a columnist for The Post, that he should go to the country's consulate in Istanbul to get documents for his marriage to a Turkish woman, offering assurances that he would be safe. People familiar with the call, reportedly intercepted by U.S. intelligence, told The Post that it wasn't clear if Khalid knew Khashoggi would be killed when he returned to the consulate, but said that he made the call at the direction of his brother. The Saudi government has claimed that the crown prince was not involved in Khashoggi's death. ** Trump has appeared reluctant to impose any severe punishment on Saudi Arabia, including resisting calls to lessen or cancel an arms deal with the kingdom worth billions of dollars. thehill.com/homenews/administration/417220-cia-concludes-saudi-crown-prince-ordered-khashoggi-murder-report

There can be "something" about a person that just rubs you the wrong way. But to be so adamantly against someone the way people are about HRC and Pelosi, without being able to explain why, is symbolic of a bigger problem. One of those problems being that they you (general you) have been told that you should hate someone, so you do so without asking why. The other is plain old sexism.

Ya think? Trump says ‘in retrospect’ he ‘should have’ visited Arlington on Veterans DayNov 16, 2018 Elizabeth Zwirz | Fox News President Trump on Friday said that he “should have” visited Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day. The president remarks came via early excerpts of an interview Trump did on “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace. Upon returning to the nation’s capital last week from France, Wallace asked the president why he didnt “go across the river to Arlington for that ceremony.” “I should have done that, I was extremely busy on calls for the country, we did a lot of calling as you know,” Trump replied. “I could have done that, as you know I just left the day before the American Cemetery and I probably think, and that was one where it was raining as hard as you can imagine and I made a speech at the American Cemetery the day before and I probably, you know, in retrospect I should have and I did last year and I will virtually every year. “But we had come in very late at night and I had just left, literally, the American Cemetery in Paris and I really probably assumed that was fine and I was extremely busy because of affairs of state -- doing other things.” Trump, who was in France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I, on Sunday went to the Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial to pay tribute to the U.S. and allied soldiers killed in the war. More than 1,500 Americans who died in the war are buried at the site. The president also received heat on Saturday for failing to visit a second American cemetery located outside of Paris because bad weather grounded the helicopter he planned to take. ** www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-says-in-retrospect-he-should-have-gone-to-arlington-on-veterans-dayHey, dt, hindsight is great!!

I felt that she was the real power and the real brains of the pair and he was just a figure head she used. I just couldn’t forgive her for not taking the power for herself from the start. Apparently the voters are not as ‘afraid’ of Nancy Pelosi as the R’s think they are.? (bold mine) You sure you’re not talking about “House of Cards?” Maybe “The Manchurian Candidate?” LOL. I gotta admit, I’m astonished at your interpetation of the Bill Clinton years and the ambition dynamic within the marriage. It’s very, very different than my interpretation, but it does make me stop and think because I remember how perplexed I was when people seemed so preoccupied with Hillary’s ambition during the 2016 campaign, often critically. I didn’t think she was any more or less ambitious than any other candidate, and chalked it up to sexism (unseemly for a woman to have ambition). But it makes a bit more sense now if people thought this was, for lack of a better word, a long con. (My memory? Bill Clinton was known for a formidable intellect (when he wasn’t thinking with his penis), white hot ambition, and charm for days. Everybody described him as remarkably compelling. He knew what he wanted from a very young age and went after it: Georgetown, Oxford, Yale Law, youngest governor in the country (31?32?). His wife, from suburban Chicago, was a little fish out of water in her husband's (Southern) home state and toiled at a law firm to bring home the bigger salary. And then James Carville and Paul Whatshisface masterminded his famously “outsider” presidential win - after which, the president was, well, Bill Clinton. His own person...a world mover and shaker...a man who regularly consulted with his wife and admired her own towering intellect, yes, but certainly not a ventriloquist’s dummy.)

That is the GOP mantra in a nutshell. HELP YOURSELF. As if everyone is an able-bodied, able-minded, middle-aged, middle-income worker. Kids, old people, emotionally challenged people, mentally challenged people DO NOT EXIST in their "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" world. Of, if they do, they should be helped by their (equally challenged) families.

What happened in GA is a travesty - but it is a travesty of the Dems own making. They sat out too many elections and let jackasses like Brian Kemp oversee their own "election".
I hope we NEVER again go back to <50% voting in midterms and only go on to more and more people paying attention and voting as if their lives and peace of mind depend on it. BECAUSE THEY DO.
