Have we forgotten this: President Trump, a critic of birthright citizenship, has been insisting on getting rid of such "chain migration" in immigration talks going on in Washington. But as The Daily Beast reported last year, Trump-branded condos in Miami, especially its Sunny Isles Beach area — dubbed "Little Russia" — are especially popular birth tourism bases for women who can afford the rent. Some Russian birth tourism outfits tout the Trump name in their packages. "There is no indication that Trump or the Trump Organization is profiting directly from birth tourism," NBC News says, though The Daily Beast notes that Trump's company "does benefit from Russian patronage of the nearby Trump International Beach Resort." and Ivana Trump was not a US citizen until AFTER the birth of her three spawn of Satan, nor was Melania a citizen when she gave birth to Baron. Nothing to see here. Yet another case of do as I say, not as I do.

Sally Yates...
“What kind of country do we want to be? All the marching, organizing, and protesting will just be noise if we don’t all go to the polls on Tuesday to answer that question. VOTE!”
She’s right..

Just a reminder when our friends on the right whine “why didn’t Obama get immigration reform done? like he didn’t want it done.
Chris Matthews...
“5 years ago, the Senate passed an immigration bill with bipartisan support. The House refused to take it up. Why can't Trump close the deal? It's because he prefers the issue and the fear it creates as opposed to a solution. We're talking about this on #Hardball tonight.”
The last part of this teeet is right. My guess is trump doesn’t want it done because if it was he couldn’t use it to whip up his base. And the Republicans in Congress support this because they certainly can’t run on any of their “positive” accomplishments they’ve done for the American People.

He didn’t say it to a reporter, but ...... eta - not being snarky. I’m sure he says this basically every day. It just hasn’t been caught on tape. Yet. Thanks - you guys know your stuff. ❤️

and Ivana Trump was not a US citizen until AFTER the birth of her three spawn of Satan, nor was Melania a citizen when she gave birth to Baron. There’s no jeopardy attached to his children – they were all born to a U.S. citizen father irrespective of the wives’ immigrant status. I’m as angry about this as anyone else. I believe it to be despicable and a ploy to foment immigrant hate in his base, but I doubt he’ll do anything about this because he knows it’ll only face a tremendous number of legal challenges and likely to lose. I really think he’s just using it as some sort of “macho talk” to rile his base so they vote. In any case, IF he does create an executive order, it’ll be prospective and not retroactive simply because we have laws that prohibit revocation of already existing citizenship to those born in the U.S. An executive order cannot retroactively change that just as much as an executive order cannot amend the Constitution.

linkInteresting. Note the last sentence. From Fox News.. “Migrants traveling to US sue Trump, government; claim violation of constitutional rights”
From the article.. “A dozen migrants traveling by foot from Honduras to the U.S. to seek asylum filed a class-action lawsuit Thursday against President Trump, the Department of Homeland Security and others, claiming a violation of their due process under the Fifth Amendment. The Fifth Amendment states that, "no person… shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." A recent PBS report cited former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who ruled in 1993 case that " it is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in a deportation proceeding."Twelve Honduran nationals, including six children, are listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. The suit, which was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., said it is widely known that Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are “undergoing a well-documented human rights crisis.” The lawsuit also claims that the plaintiffs’ right to the Administrative Procedures Act and the Declaratory Judgement Act were being infringed upon. The Central American migrant caravan now numbers approximately 4,000 people, down from a high of 7,200.”

Hotel bill for first lady's trip to Cairo topped $95KBY EMILY BIRNBAUM - 11/01/18 05:37 PM EDT First lady Melania Trump's trip to Cairo cost taxpayers more than $95,000, according to federal spending records. Trump and her team stayed at the Semiramis Intercontinental Cairo during her trip to Egypt last month, according to records, which were first reported by Quartz. The record does not say how many rooms were rented or how the money was allocated. A night at the hotel can cost between $119 and $699, Quartz noted. The description of the expenditure says "FLOTUS visit hotel rooms," but offers no further details. A spokeswoman for the first lady told The Hill that Trump did not stay overnight in Cairo.Trump stayed at the hotel after a multi-country tour across Africa, during which she made stops in Ghana, Malawi and Kenya. The Trump family has come under fire on numerous occasions for costing taxpayers large sums of money. thehill.com/homenews/administration/414417-hotel-bill-for-first-ladys-trip-to-cairo-topped-95kDid she or didn't she stay at the hotel, and if not where did she stay and how much did that cost? (stepping out?) Moochers and thieves, every single one of them is a grifter. Why was she there anyway? All I recall was her standing in front of pyramids dressed like she was Hercule Poirot in Death on the Nile. Did she even know Egypt’s al Sisi is a brutal dictator? Oh, of course…silly me…that’s why he’s one of her husband’s BFFs. It'll be far cheaper if instead of sending his wife, Trump could just exchange love letters with al Sisi as he does with Kim Jong Un.

“History will remember this as the week liberal politicians & legal “scholars” transformed into constitution originalists ...well at least as it relates to the 14th Amendment.”
Even I know the Constitution can’t be changed because some guy signs an EO.
Think about what would be left of the Constitution if one man coukd just go in and change it at will?

"Well, I'd like to remind Stacey and Oprah and Will Ferrell: I'm kind of a big deal, too." abcn.ws/2DhPVe0” hahaha!! seriously?!? compared to *Oprah* ?!? (and Will Ferrell, too- but c'mon- Oprah??) he says he's a big deal and he's comparing himself to Oprah?!?!? ) More people IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES know who Oprah is than Americans here would EVER know who Mike Pence is. Between Pence and Trump, things are getting sillier and sillier by the day. Pence compares himself to Oprah while Trump tweets that Stacey Abrams is not qualified. Yeah. Magna cum laude of Spelman College, law degree from Yale, served in state legislature, while he can’t speak in complete sentences unless a teleprompter is in front of him. She’s everything he hates in a female – smart and educated, a Dem, eminently qualified…hmmm…just like Hillary, I guess.

We’re not the ones changing things to suit our preferences or those of our donors.

“29,339,096 Americans have ALREADY voted in the 2018 mid-terms. With 4 days to go, this FAR exceeds the TOTAL of 21,218,015 early votes cast nations wide in 2014. No result of the election will be greater than HUGE voter turnout. Congratulations, America! #govote”
This has been one of my biggest pet peeves that we literally have to beg people to vote. That we congratulate people because they showed up.
This not voting bugs me more than ones who voted for trump because at least they showed up.

They would really shoot at unarmed people?! What a sad place we have come to. Yes, some of them would. Because they believe that the people coming to immigrate and seek asylum are foreign invaders. And dangerous. Either because they are believed to be criminals, or they will take up too many jobs and public resources, or they will destroy American culture and way of life. They see these people only as a threat. And scared ignorant people can be very dangerous. Yep. Trump thinks he can. After all, he stated he could shoot some one in the middle of the road and he wouldn’t lose his base....

linktrump draining the swamp.. From Vox. “ Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke might face a criminal investigation”From the article... “Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s ethics troubles have taken a turn for the worse this week with federal prosecutors now looking into whether there needs to be a criminal investigation into his conduct. The Washington Post reported Monday that the Interior Department’s internal watchdog, the Inspector General, referred one of its inquiries into Zinke’s conduct to the Department of Justice. According to the Post, that could lead to an investigation that results in criminal charges. But we don’t yet know the details. Zinke is facing at least three reviews by the Inspector General’s office of questionable activity, and the agency didn’t reveal which probe was referred to the Justice Department. We do know that one of the IG reviews centers on his decision not to grant two native tribes in Connecticut approval to open a casino. It came after an intense lobbying campaign by Nevada Republicans to block the deal, raising the concern of improper political influence on the decision.”

I am worried that nothing will come out of this midterms for democrats. May be I am being pessimistic but the fact that there are people like 45 and people who still would vote for him makes me just sad and not very optimistic.
Reading responses of some of the people posting on political threads here, I will not be surprised if republicans win again. There is no cure for stupidity and looks like there is no cure/consequence for lying 83 times in a day.

Think about what would be left of the Constitution if one man coukd just go in and change it at will? conservatives bitched and moaned about Executive Orders every time Barack Obama even talked about them! Their memories are getting REALLY bad... perhaps we need to give all of THEM the dementia 'test' Trump too, too. I think Trump is afraid of *real* powerful / rich / intelligent people like Oprah... I'm sure he knows Oprah could wipe the floor with him, AND talk him under the table. In my opinion, Trump only bullies or insults people who he perceives as weaker than himself in some fashion.
