I am about ready to make my hot chocolate / cocoa bar again. In the past, I've always used Ghiradelli that I found locally. I can't seem to find anything other than Swiss Miss this year so I will need to order from online. Whats your favorite brand? Or do you make it homemade? I am not against making some homemade, but I would need a tried and true recipe.

I wanted something new and picked up Stephens peanut butter cup cocoa mix. OH BOY it’s sooo good! It has mini pb cups in it that dissolve. It’s such a nice, warm evening treat. It comes in a can and I found it at our local grocery store.
I also love Abulita Mexican hot chcocoate packets and Trader Joe’s.

Oooh, I do have a recipe that I make and give out for Christmas gifts. It is creamy and tastes so much better than Swiss Miss. You could add peppermint to it if you like that. We also have a hot chocolate mixer that made everything really creamy and frothy and hot. Last month, my nephew asked me to make him some since he ran out early. He lives and works in Vail, Colorado and says it is the perfect drink after a cold day outside. Measurements aren't exact. If I find a larger creamer, I'll put in 12 oz or 2 cups of powdered sugar. I tried adding the tiny marshmallows, but they never melted and always stayed hard. The miniature ones will work though as long as they are fresh. I have added miniature chocolate chips to the mix and they also work.
10 1/2 cups powdered milk 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 8 oz coffee mate 16 oz Quick
ETA: I put this mixture into milk for an even better drink.

I really like the cocoa made from THIS RECIPE. Instead of making them into balls, wrapping in plastic wrap and freezing, you could just make it into hot chocolate right away. It isn’t that difficult to make and it’s delicious! I gave them to a bunch of people as Christmas gifts one year and almost everyone I gave them to asked me for the recipe later. ETA: If you’re doing a hot cocoa bar, I’d see if you have a World Market or similar place near you where you can get an assortment of Torani flavored syrups. Then if people want to add a flavor, they can pick their favorite and add it to the basic chocolate.

Costco has the packages of MacIntosh toffie, After Eight mint, Coffeecrisp and regular in one cellowrapped package. All are so good.
I live in Canada

My kids love Abuelita hot chocolate. It is little discs that you break up and melt. It's in a yellow cylindrical box and we get it at Target or the grocery store.
I've done big batches hot chocolate in the crock pot for parties. I don't remember the recipe I used, but it called for condensed milk and cocoa powder and was pretty darn good.

Stephen's hot chocolate, like LuvAgoodPaddle mentioned, is fabulous. What I like about it is that it typically all dissolves and doesn't leave me with a glop at the bottom. I've got mint truffle, mexican (cinnamon), white chocolate, and candy cane in the cupboard. I tried orange because chocolate orange is one of my favorite flavor combos, but it was WAY too sweet. I see a new flavor this year on their website-- "malt shoppe."

Ohhh, this is timely, I was craving hot cocoa last night. I never crave it.
Does anyone have a favorite sugar free dry mix (since I'd use it very infrequently) they'd recommend as well?

Stephen's Hot Chocolate has so many flavor options that you could almost do a hot chocolate bar with just flavors of that. It's a local company so I think I can buy every flavor they make in the stores this time of year. We have a cupboard full of different flavors. I like their white chocolate that I add an Anise flavor mix to that I picked up at a Dutch import shop.

Land 'O Lakes Hot Chocolate is our favorite. We like all the flavors!! I keep a "Hot" Bar in the winter with various teas and hot chocolates. DD and I both love it, as well as my nieces when they visit. DH doesn't drink warm drinks of any kind, so there's more for us!

Penzeys! I’m surprised no one has recommended it yet. Delicious and no weird chemicals. Has a tiny bit of cinnamon in it, like Mexican hot chocolate. They also make a mint version.

I’ll have to dig out my recipes—I did a hit chocolate bar for friends 2 years ago and I made a WHITE hot chocolate that was sooooo good!
I do use half-n-half for 50% of my milk.
One of our favorite adult HC uses peppermint vodka!

Actually, our local stores carry several flavors here but I bet I am not gonna be able to find the malt shoppe one.... They might have had a black friday special or something because I ordered six cans last year, and I wouldn't have done that with $20 shipping.
