I’m working on a “one block wonder” quilt at the moment. The top and bottom edges will get squared off, and then it will have a ten inch black border with the color strips “floating” in the corners. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181203/966ba5fabab8957b8c8ed6ae5ee02108.jpg) I have a couple of afghans to finish for Christmas gifts as well.....but those are fast. Amazing! I can’t wait to see it finished.

I am having my girlfriends over for an ornament exchange this weekend. I’ve stitched this up quick but now I have to decide how to finish it. 😊 ![](http://i64.tinypic.com/2z685mu.jpg)

I have something to post! I feel that I'm always making things, always creating, designing, solving, but most of it isn't photographable, or complete. This is!
I've mentioned before that I take in candle ends and unwanted jars for cleaning and melting down into new candles. I have the congregations of 3 churches collect their candle wax for me. Once a year I have a candle sale in 2 of the churches. Today is the parish church, and next week will be our chapel where I sing in the choir. Yesterday I set the table up for the morning services, and I'll be going back after lunch to pack up what's left. We run an honesty box system, pay what you can. This year the proceeds are going towards Rett UK, as my 9-year-old cousin has this syndrome and they have helped her and her family amazingly.
Here is today's table. I have to admit, I am proud!

RedSquirrelUK - Your candles look wonderful! I am sure that Rett UK will appreciate the donation that comes from your hard work. I wish our church still used regular candles as the light they put off is so nice. Instead they have gone to the oil filled candles. I wasn't the best at refilling them when I served on the Altar Guild. When I mentioned the oil candles to DD, she was indignant and said the younger acolytes were getting off easy by not having to deal with wax dripping in their hair.

This one is a snow globe wreath, inspired by this one I found through Pinterest. When I saw it, I immediately thought of switching the truck out for a cute Tomten angel made with wool by my friend who makes them. I asked her to make her with blue hair and I thought she turned out so cute! Originally I wanted to do a ball trim like the example but the little shop didn’t have it, so I settled on the ric-rac trim. One thing I learned is that fake snow and the plastic is static - and the snow sticks! If you make this wipe it off with a dryer sheet first!

Ok, I’m finally posting some of my Moda Blockheads quilt blocks. These are blocks 23-34. Here’s the link to the blocks of the week. Moda Blockheads 2The most recent (block 34) is on the far right. The weekly block is an appliqué block. When that’s the case, there is usually an alternative pieced block for those that don’t like appliqué. I made both today.

Made progress on the Christmas tree wallhanging today. Finished the paper piecing and got the first border on. The second border is cut out and ready to go on in the morning. Then I'll sandwich and start quilting tomorrow. Hopeing to have it all finished by Wed evening. Here is a picture before I added the first narrow border of green. Finished it will be 77" tall and about 24" wide. Glad DD has tall ceilings in her apartment! ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181210/799ed7cb9e8142cd515dcf881df7a725.jpg)

This is fantastic! Just beautiful. Perfectly chosen fabrics. I've been in a sewing slump since my Mom passed 11/6 Teri I am sorry about your mom's passing. i am making microwavable heating pads for the family. Are you filling them with flax seeds? I was thinking about doing them for everyone and filling them with flax seeds.

I want to knit this shawl in DK instead of fingering weight Drea's shawlwill it be ok as long as I use the right needles for the yarn? I know it will turn out bigger but I'm picturing something big and squishy to wear round my shoulders when I'm doing more knitting ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Also I have some DK that I've had for a while so I'm wanting to use it (yarn is happier when it's used right?)

lainey, that's pretty. I think it would be fine making it with DK knowing it will be slightly bigger.

i am making microwavable heating pads for the family. Are you filling them with flax seeds? I was thinking about doing them for everyone and filling them with flax seeds. no, i'm making them with whole feed corn. i made these several years ago and the corn worked very well. i find the larger surface area of the corn holds heat better than smaller fillers. i bought a 50lb bag of corn. it filled exactly 23 bags with approximately 5 cups of corn in each bag.
