ha. Yes, I am watching. I saw the Clintons before the service began and thought they both looked well (and honestly, better than the last couple of times I had seen them on the news). G.W.B. is just breaking my heart. Every now and then they pan over to him and you can just tell his heart is broken.

I have it on as I do my stuff needed to be done for the office. I haven't really been able to see much of the crowd. Just glimpses here and there.
Maybe he needs to eat a burger. The vegan thing may not be working for him.

Yes. I’ve been watching all morning. I keep think about the Bush wives. They are devastated themselves and broken hearted for their husbands. I remember how I felt when my dh lost his father.

Yes. I didn't notice that.
I liked the historian's speech.
Jenna is a good public speaker. But she's on some morning show I think so she's used to it.

We were just discussing how great the speakers have been and how emotional the family is making us.

I just keep thinking about how difficult it must be to have to mourn so publicly. 😭 And for so long. I was just talking about this on Monday to DH. Your father has passed away. You have to wait while he lies in state for the public, a state funeral, then travel back for a burial. In public.

No I just got home. I’m not big on attending funerals of people I actually knew and loved. I’m not going to watch one for someone I don’t personally know.
For me personally, I am done mourning President Bush. I have read lots of very touching testimonials. Looked at a lot of very sweet pictures. Watched the various clips on the news. I do not need to watch the funeral to get some closure.

Yes, didn’t plan to, but once I turned it on, I was completely invested. It has been very touching and has choked me up more than I thought it would.

I turned it on in time to hear Rev. Levenson. Very touching and I cried watching James Baker cry. What great, kind men.

I am at work but have it on my computer watching! I have to keep pausing so I am a bit behind but watching GWB break down at the end of his eulogy and Jim Baker crying as they spoke about him rubbing Bush's feet in his final hours!! Oh my gosh...I'm bawling at work!!

Do we think it will be run again on some news channel in the middle of the night? I would like to record it to see the little things I missed. Hope that doesn't sound morbid.

I only saw the first few minutes. The Obamas greeted the Trumps with handshakes. Michelle, regardless of her revelations in her book about what she felt toward Trump, smiled and shook their hands. I also like the fact that the Trumps were welcomed by the Bush family despite the rancor. Whatever ideological differences exist they have been set aside for these past two days and decency prevailed. Whether one agreed or disagreed with Bush Sr’s policies, a president has died and his service to the country should be honored and his death respected. What better way to do that than for all living presidents, regardless of party, come together and show that respect.
