I have so much to do before Christmas that I almost have to chart every second. I decided to wrap stocking stuffers while I watched. I can tell you, there are some gifts where the wrapping paper has been liberally bedewed with tears. WHAT an emotional service.
I think it said a lot about him that his daughters-in-law were all sobbing as though he was THEIR father! What a wonderful man he was.

Do we think it will be run again on some news channel in the middle of the night? I would like to record it to see the little things I missed. Hope that doesn't sound morbid. It will probably be on YouTube. I plan to search for it later tonight.

When his time comes....is anyone going to be able to speak like this about him? I doubt Trump's sons or daughters will, in all honesty, be able to say this about him Bush said of his father: “Showed me what it means to be a president who serves with integrity, leads with courage, and acts with love in his heart for the citizens of our country.”It was a very dignified and moving ceremony and I'm sure Trump felt rather uncomfortable listening to the eulogies.

We have a quiet day at work due to the market being closed so I pulled it up and watched it on my computer. The service was beautiful.
The speakers were wonderful and did a fantastic job of telling about the man and not just a President. There is such dignity in all of it.
I find I really like George W. Bush, the man, much more each year. He's so adorable with Michelle - they giggle when they see each other. He has become very comfortable and their family relationship is obviously a very good one.

It was a wonderful ceremony. I did shed a few tears. Rest In Peace, President Bush. The ceremony today was the funeral service from the Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church. I am wondering what the service in St. Martin’s Church In Houston will be?

So the journalists were filling air space while he’s being flown to Texas. And they were speculating that the reason the funeral in Washington was so quiet was because the cathedral would allow for lots of echoes if anyone even whispered. On what planet do I come from where you’re supposed to be quiet during a funeral and not because of size of the hall? It came off ignorant and I had to change it rather than listen to 3 hours of mindless jabber.

Honestly I think trump is way too self absorbed to even have noticed what the former presidents children were saying about their father. I’m not trying to make this political, but really, trump thinks he’s just great as he is. *believe me.

Yes, I watched/listened as much as I could being at work. I had tears running down my face listening to the eulogies. George H.W. Bush was the first President I ever voted for as I had turned 18 in 87'. For that reason, his passing hit me hard. I just love the life he lived and hope that I am able to be as active and have the love of life that he always seemed to have until I am 94. Rest in Peace President Bush. You were a truly great Servant to your country.

inkeep wondering what trump is thinking. Hearing all these wonderful things about ghwbush When his time comes....is anyone going to be able to speak like this about him? A few of his children? His rich grovelling associates? Or his fellow/former inmates? Thinking NONE of them will come near the warm respectful words though.

Its up to the President and his family if they have a state funeral or not. I *almost* bet they dont have one. But then again, maybe he will want to ceremony of it all.

inkeep wondering what trump is thinking. Hearing all these wonderful things about ghwbush When his time comes....is anyone going to be able to speak like this about him? i think all of them were probably wondering what their funerals would be like. they were probably running through the list of people they want to eulogize them. at least they have an idea of the pomp and pageantry that will happen for them as it has for other Presidents. poor Jimmy, he looked so adorable. i wonder if he was wondering if he was next. as far as Trump, you could tell he wasn't very comfortable during the whole thing. he is the current President but he almost seemed like an outsider. like the "popular" kids were enjoying each other's company until he came in and then they froze him out.

I watched much of it via streaming. I didn't notice Bill Clinton's eyes were closed--but noticed he was there with his mouth open as if he is a mouth breather.
I heard the Senator's eulogy and GW's eulogy. Both impressive.

Jimmy Carter looks great. He looks better/healthier than Bill Clinton despite being 22 years older.

Jimmy Carter looks great. He looks better/healthier than Bill Clinton despite being 22 years older. he did look good! even better than Rosalyn. poor thing could barely stand. DH was telling me they didn't expect her to attend but i didn't catch why. maybe someone here knows. but yes, Jimmy did look good despite having had melanoma not too long ago. maybe it's all that Habitat for Humanity work he did. kept him physical and strong.

I looked it up on my satellite guide and description for hours tonight is just “news of the day” which is I think the description every night. If you’ve got room on your DVR, you may want to try recording that channel both tonight and overnight.
