inkeep wondering what trump is thinking. Hearing all these wonderful things about ghwbush When his time comes....is anyone going to be able to speak like this about him? i think all of them were probably wondering what their funerals would be like. they were probably running through the list of people they want to eulogize them. at least they have an idea of the pomp and pageantry that will happen for them as it has for other Presidents. poor Jimmy, he looked so adorable. i wonder if he was wondering if he was next. as far as Trump, you could tell he wasn't very comfortable during the whole thing. he is the current President but he almost seemed like an outsider. like the "popular" kids were enjoying each other's company until he came in and then they froze him out. Whatever channel I was watching said that soon after a President takes office, that he plans the details of his funeral. The military unit (??) in charge of that keeps it updated and is very specific about asking what the president wants including who will speak, what songs, what roads the procession will drive on, etc. They said that 41 didn't want the 'missing man' airplane formation and also chose not to have the route go down some particular road, but I can't remember which. The commentators said that Presidents probably think about their own funerals way more than the rest of us.

Jimmy Carter looks great. He looks better/healthier than Bill Clinton despite being 22 years older. he did look good! even better than Rosalyn. poor thing could barely stand. DH was telling me they didn't expect her to attend but i didn't catch why. maybe someone here knows. but yes, Jimmy did look good despite having had melanoma not too long ago. maybe it's all that Habitat for Humanity work he did. kept him physical and strong. It was brain cancer, not melanoma that plagued Jimmy Carter.

I don't know what my problem is but I actually teared up. I think it was the shots of him and Barbara as a young couple, then him in his aviator gear while in the service, then the photo of him holding his little girl who died of leukemia.

Do we think it will be run again on some news channel in the middle of the night? I would like to record it to see the little things I missed. Hope that doesn't sound morbid. It will probably be on YouTube. I plan to search for it later tonight. I had to work but since everything winds up on YouTube, I figured I'd try to find it this weekend. It will be a sad backdrop to making my Christmas cards.

Thank you for posting this. I didn’t get to see it so I just turned it on. I think it’s sweet to see the in-law kids tear up. How many of us can say we will cry for our in-laws?

So the journalists were filling air space while he’s being flown to Texas. And they were speculating that the reason the funeral in Washington was so quiet was because the cathedral would allow for lots of echoes if anyone even whispered. On what planet do I come from where you’re supposed to be quiet during a funeral and not because of size of the hall? It came off ignorant and I had to change it rather than listen to 3 hours of mindless jabber. It truly was not mindless jabber. Nor was any of it ignorant.

I just watched W's eulogy for his father, and the tears are flowing.
It was a beautiful testimony to a life well lived, by a son who clearly adored his father.
And the end, when President Bush broke...he has never seemed so human to me.

And the end, when President Bush broke...he has never seemed so human to me. Loved that! And when the brought them into the rotunda... He was having a very hard time keeping his composure on the steps ad did Laura Bush. I admired them a lot. I see many similarities in relationship with him. It's hard to see grown men cry sometimes, esepcially these are so personal.Bob Doyle (auto wants to change it) was breathtakingly sad! Wonder somber inspriring services.

I too, watch today. The saying that impacted me was along the lines about hatred, that "hatred corrupts the vessel it is carried in." I can see him hugging Robin and holding Barbara's hand... President Trump looked miserable there. I am glad George W. took the high road and greeted all former Presidents. Loved all the music and especially like Michael W Smith. He was well loved and respected. RIP...
