I can't imagine ever doing it, like in an airport or restaurant. I might talk to them if they were standing next to me in line somewhere. But actually moving across a room or meadow or parking lot to speak to someone who is famous-- I don't think I'd ever do it.
And the 'standing in line' scenario is iffy, because when would a celeb be standing in the same line as me? They'd be moved to the front of the line, right?

I was in Costco once and Marie Osmond reached in front of me to get something. I thought about saying something, this was when she was on Dancing with the Stars, and tell her she was doing great. I couldn't do it, it just felt like an intrusion, especially since she wouldn't make eye contact.

A friend of mine was jogging in Austin recently and Sandra Bullock jogged up next to her and chatted for a few minutes like a regular person would. My friend was dying and wanted to scream *I LOVE you and your movies*. But, she very calmly just jogged along and then they parted ways. It was killing her not to get a selfie with her.

No. Absolutely not. I grew up in NY and it was considered the height of tourist behavior to treat them in any way other than anyone else. Which means ignore or give unsolicited opinions, depending on the situation. LOL

No, I wouldn't. If I were them, it would make me crazy to have people coming up to me all the time, so I won't do it to them.

I have but never to like take a picture, but basically to acknowledge that I see them and know who they are. Most have been nice.
Once Steve Martin was standing next to my table in an NYC restaurant. I could have put my hand in his pocket. I didn't "see" him as he was so close. My BIL was trying to tell me and he kept mouthing the words "Steve Martin" Finally I said... a little too loudly.. STEVE MARTIN .... WHERE? He turned around said hello and asked how the food was!
We all laughed. It was cool.
Calista Flockhart was once having dinner at a sushi place in LA and I was there with my dd and xdh my DD was 4 we told her that she was a famous actress who was married to Indiana Jones...(she knew Indiana Jones for a lego game) As we left she turned and said to Calista.... Are you REALLY married to Indiana Jones.. she and her friend both laughed and she said, Yes I am... I'll tell him hello for you!
I would never run after someone but I think if you speak to most celebrities in a friendly way and are not intrusive they don't mind.

Only if they are in a designated Meet The Celebrity situation. Eg, I hung out after Audra McDonald's show this summer to get a picture with her in the area outside of the playhouse where she was available to do such things. I lived in NYC for a lot of years and used to see celebrities fairly often but never would have approached them. I would have felt really weird about that.

It really depends on the celebrity. I have in the past and other times, I'm afraid to even make eye contact!
My favorite--We went to a Carrie Underwood concert once, and got back to our hotel (nowhere near the venue but very swanky) very late. I was in the lobby when she walked in! She was very friendly, down to earth, etc. If I ever saw her again, I'd likely talk to her again.

If I'm working, yes. If I'm just me, unlikely. I like my privacy too much to intrude on someone else's.

DH and I saw George Lucas in the Luxor in Las Vegas. He and I caught each other eye and he gave a smile, so we both just told him how much we enjoyed his work. He was very gracious and we left it at that.

Plenty of opportunity in Nashville but never did. That will get your Nashville card revoked in a heartbeat.
Although seeing Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at Starbucks was kindof a moment.

There are not many celebrities I would recognize. But, I did see Charlton Heston at the airport once. He was waiting for a Southwest Airlines flight and was sitting in an open type restaurant area reading the newspaper. I didn't go up to him and neither did anyone else..........at least not that I noticed. I thought it was funny that he was flying Southwest. No first class seating there. LOL But, in Dallas, that meant he got to fly out of the much smaller Love Field instead of DFW.
I have some friends who ride their bikes in the same area that GW Bush rides from time to time. They have met him, taken pictures and rode with him.

I stood behind Sam Elliott in a grocery line once...did not interact with him, just stood unassumingly behind him and listened to that sexy low "Beef! It's what's for dinner" voice apologize to the cashier for not having his payment ready. That man is one beautiful, tall drink of water.

I've never had the opportunity, so I don't know what I'd do. A few years ago, my son spotted some YES network announcer while we were on the boardwalk. He did politely approach him and ask for a photo. The man (whose name I couldn't tell you if my life depended on it) was very gracious - talked to him a while and took the pic. My husband used to fly a lot, so he would often see celebrities & sports figures on on planes & in the airports. He never approached anyone. HOWEVER, once he was in a dealership in LA & Timothy B Schmit came in. He did approach him and ask him for a photo, which Timothy did agree to. It's hanging inside one of my kitchen cabinets and I always say it's a pic of my current & future husbands.

If I was famous I'd want a chance to go to grocery, coffee shop, beach and just gel. Not be friendly, or engaged, with anyone as I reach for produce!

We have several sports celebrities who live in the area. When my DS was 13 we were having lunch at the mall and saw John Smoltz and family eating lunch a couple of tables over in the food court. After John finished eating I walked over and asked for his autograph on the meal receipt I had.
He signed his name but was not very gracious about it at all. OTOH, ran into Tom Glavine once and he signed DS's ball hat. He was so very nice and even joked around with DS.
Saw Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown at a seafood /sushi place once in our area. No one bothered them at all.

I always think being famous would be my worst nightmare because I hate for people to notice me. I really don't like for people to talk to me in public. Because of that, I would never encroach on someone else's personal time.
I sometimes wonder if I will end up seated next to a famous person on a plane, because I get bumped up to first class a lot. The truth is, I probably wouldn't notice. I tend to put on "airline seat blinders" and I rarely look at the person sitting next to me. I'm usually flying early and tired and not feeling remotely chatty, so I bury my head in my book as soon as I can and I don't look up when the next seat is taken.

The last time I flew Mario Lopez was on the plane with us. We didn't approach him, but the flight attendants were seriously giddy. Lol. They got their picture taken with him.

Standing in line or another situation where I'm 'there' anyway and they are not actively doing something, I might.
Actually going over and interrupting what they are doing no way! That's got to be totally annoying to have people come up to you all the time.

I met Jesse James in 2007 (before the whole SB thing) and he was so nice to me. In my instance, it would depend on the celebrity. Recently, me and my dh were in Amoeba Record store in Hollywood and Johnny Knoxville was walking out as we were walking in but we didn't say anything to him. I purposely went there hoping to see Lemmy Kilmeister (Motorhead) but he wasn't there

Totally depends on the situation. We were at Legoland and Barry Bostwick was in line next to us for one of the rides, we chatted. I wouldn't run up and interrupt someone though.

That is the one place I believe should be completely off limits when you see a celebrity. Like others have said, if you see them in line or whatever, perhaps, but never while eating. I work in Santa Barbara so I see quite a few. I've never approached them, I figure they just wanna relax like everyone else.

Nah. They're just people. I sat next Evander Holyfield on the train between terminals in Vegas back in April. He was talking to his wife. What was I going to do? Interrupt them? It was funny, though. We saw heads turning all over the place as we were on the escalator next to them and then people would shout stuff as he's walking through the terminal. That shit would get old for me. Being a celebrity would be a frickin' nightmare.

I was in the security line behind Harry Connick Jr. These ladies were being obnoxious waiting for him. They kept letting people go ahead until he came and then they fawned all over him. I had no clue he was in front of me, then didn't know who they were taking pictures with. Then he turned around and appologized to me for holding up the line. I was like "OH!" We went through the same line and walked together to the gate. We talked about where we were going and when his gate came, he said have a good flight and I wanted to ask him to marry me. I mean, I said, you too. Then, while working in a Hardees, the group Brooks and Dunn came through. Brooks made a huge deal about us having Dr. Pepper and since that was is my favorite too I had to say something. I wouldn't have known who it was if their big ol' bus with their names all over it would't have caused a traffic jam in our little parking lot. Both cases, they were just normal human interaction. Can't see going out of my way. I'm trying to think of anybody I would do that to.

Nah. I grew up in the Valley and waited on/helped a number of celebrities in the jobs I had, but never mentioned their work to them, even though I knew who they were. My favorite was helping Larry Linville buy his daughter shoes back when he was on M.A.S.H. - his laugh was exactly like Frank Burns' laugh on the show.
