So for those of us disappointed with the SC Scrapbook kit what is your plan? I think I am going to cancel if nothing is done... Which I doubt it will be. I am debating on keeping my PL sub... I may just move to GB - I love their sneaks this month...or I may just not sub for awhile. I do love getting a kit though and that is really the only scrapbook specific supplies I buy but I could live off my stash for awhile..anyways just wanted to know others thoughts (away from the SC board)..

I sub to GB and LOVE them. I sub to the PL kit and just adore everything it comes with. I love the variety each month. I never get sick of the same old embellishments. And I really love that they also give you cut files and printables too!
And their SB kits are gorgeous. Really well put together. I throw in a kit and an add on whenever I can budget it.
The owner is a sweetheart and has great customer service.
They have expanded and now have their own lines. I'm really excited for GB and the direction they are going!

I cancelled my sub last month and lost my rewards status. I could not handle one more ugly, sparse kit when there are so many fabulous options out there. If I was still a subber, I would be sick/crying with this month's kit, my condolences to you.

As I mentioned in another thread, I cancelled my main subscription a few months ago after being a member for several years due to everything being Studio Calico brand, which meant same colors, same designs, etc. There seemed to be less and less each month with many items that were fillers of not much substantial value. I kept my Project Life sub as I still think it's a decent value and I like the design of their cards. I switched over to Scraptastic. You get a lot more in quantity and variety plus you get to choose which main kit you want, which is nice.
I felt and still feel like SC is trying to eek more profit out of their kits. The value isn't adding up on many of the kits anymore, the selection of items is strange considering how many beautiful products are on the market today, and more and more people are complaining on their board.
They really need to step up their game, but then again maybe they don't need to. If enough people keep buying their kits and they're still making a good profit, then more power to them, I guess.

My 6 months is up, thankfully. Canceling oct 1! I love the look of GB. Also considering Scrapbook and cards today quarterly Kit. I think quarterly might be better for me and it comes with a magazine. I miss printed mags. AND they have FREE cut files, what a great idea! I'm tired of paying for all the digital extras at SC. I'm cranky about SC after this months main kit or lack thereof.

Kath "eek out profit" hahaha. I think you have inadvertently put your finger squarely on the button of what is happening with this particular kit club and in many parts of our hobby right now! Sad but true.

I have decided to cancel Oct 1 and have already subscribed to GB. I love the look of their kits this month and previous months... I may still buy the occasional kit if I really like it but my days of subbing are sadly over...I am just not liking their kits as much anymore and you get so much more with the GB kits.

I am in the wait and see group, but I don't sub to the main kit. I sub to PL and have been happy with most of the items in that kit. I think at the end of the year I will reevaluate and decide what I have used and what I have not used. I do have a tendency to pick up at least one of the add ons so I will need to add that money into consideration. I know I am not as upset as main scrapbook subs because that kit does suck. I picked up two of the add ons and for the life of me I cannot figure out why the paint wasn't put with the main kit.

What is GB? (Feeling really dumb, but can't figure out the acronym and am looking to eventually subscribe to a kit club again...).

IF you're looking for a good kit club, can I recommend Cocoa Daisy? I'm on the DT, but I truly love their kits. There are exclusives each month -- paper, embellishments, and stamps -- plus free cut files and printables when you subscribe. If anyone is looking for buying kits a la carte, I sell unique kits that are full of fun and exclusive items: Things That Shine.

Ditto on Cocoa Daisy. Love them. Good quantity and style. Rewards points add up quickly and customer service is excellent.

I have a love hate relationship with SC. I'm a PL subscriber. Love their cards. Think they are some of the best out there. Can't stand their customer service and shipping policies.

I subscribe to Studio Calico and I don't plan to cancel, I've been a subscriber since I jumped on the waiting list for PL in 2013. I did a lot of research when I decided to subscribe to the scrapbooking kit as well, I wasn't sure if kit scrapping was for me, and it SO is.
Yes, this month is minimal, and that is really disappointing but I do not use a lot of embellishments in my scrapbooking, so really, it's okay, I know there is never a point this month where I will think "Oh no, I'm out of embellishments." Each month I buy at least 1 add-on (this month was the exception, only the 2nd exception ever). I chose Studio Calico because I like the style of their kits, and I like variety and every once in awhile they put in something (like the silk screen this month) that pushes my comfort zone and sometimes (like with Amy Tangerine stitching templates) I find that I really enjoy that something I never would have tried before. Overall, I am usually happy with my kits.
If I was going to cancel, it would be a toss-up between Scraptastic or Hip Kit club, both fit with my style and seem to have reasonable prices.

I am one of those who is also really disappointed with the SB main kit for a variety of reasons. I have one more month left on my commitment and I may drop the SB sub and pick up the PL. I've consistently liked the PL kits for last several months. I could either pick up one SB kit if I really love it or start GB or Cocoa Daisy. I'm also intrigued to see what Ali Edwards has planned for her Story Kits. That may be enough for me. I actually have had positive experiences with SC customer service, and did appreciate that April provided some explanation to all of the complaints. My concern is how far in advance they have to put kits together. Apparently they're working on March kits now. That means that even if they take all the complaints into consideration nothing may change for 6 months!

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one feeling this way about the SC kits lately! I've been subbing for years, but the last few months I've been so disappointed I cancelled my PL sub, and am seriously considering cancelling my SB sub. The fiancee has been hounding me to cut back on pre-wedding spending anyway, and if I'm not happy with what my $40 gets me, then it's really a no-brainer.

I liked last month's main ok (Poet Society) but was not a big fan of the 3 months before that (Sandlot, Penny Arcade, Hello Hello). It seems like SC is going in a different direction style wise than me. I also like a variety of manufactures not just AC affiliated companies - like My Mind's Eye, Webster's Pages, etc. I am wondering with hiring new positions if maybe someone new is designing the kits... I am debating whether to keep my PL sub..I may wait for sneaks or just go ahead and cancel...It is just getting a little tiring. I also just got an email with inspiration - have we gotten that before?

meganliane - I completely agree with you on the manufacturers non AC affiliated - this is why I subbed in the first place - for the variety of manufacturers! As for the inspiration email, I haven't seen one yet - nope, I lied. It's there, but I must have skipped over it. Did you get the newest one? Free enamel dots! It's like they're reading this thread, lol.

I wonder if subscribers are going to feel these free gifts are enough to keep them around? For me, it is more that it is just not my style although I think the emptiness of the SB kit this month helped me in really looking at my sub from that aspect...

I'm really not trying to oversell Cocoa Daisy, but they always feature a variety of companies in their kits. This month's kits had Maggie Holmes, Webster's Pages, My Mind's Eye, Teresa Collins, We R Memory Keepers, Jen Hadfield, and Pebbles papers. (I know some of those are under the AC umbrella, but AC does own ~50% of the scrapbooking companies now, I think!). Past kits have also included Heidi Swapp, Jilibean Soup, and Echo Park.

I'm glad that they made a gesture by offering subscribers a freebie. Some people seem completely satisfied with that. It's realistically all they can do right this minute given the time they need to put kits together. I'm going to sit tight for another month or two and then check out other options once Ali's other kit comes out. Thanks for the recommendations about Cocoa Daisy and GB. Cocoa Daisy looks right up my alley!

The free gift is a coupon code to be used with an order. I placed my order reveal night so I'm missing out on this one. I feel like it's a marketing tool to get folks to buy more rather than just a nice gesture.

I cancelled my main sub a while back. I do have the card and PL sub though. Likely dropping the card sub soon and may just be done with them completely here before too long. I've been subbing to the GB LP kit since it began and love love love that kit every month almost without fail. There was one month where a lot of the cards were a "miss" for me personally, but I expect that when they have a lot of different style and people to please. I just used the ones I loved and put the rest into the sell or giveaway pile! Lori with GB is amazing, too. So helpful, nice and responds quickly. I can't speak for CD, but their kits this month look amazing to me! Both of them plus the Hip Kit blow the SC kit out of the water. I think some still have yet to be revealed as well.

I feel like it's a marketing tool to get folks to buy more rather than just a nice gesture. You can place as many orders as you want if you are a subscriber, and they bundle them all together when they start packing on the 1st or after. If you put it into your cart, you should not see a shipping charge until 12:00 am EST tomorrow. Depending on where you live, they add it all together to get you to free shipping or not. Hope that's not confusing.

I was surprised that the PL and Card also got a free item, both of those subs seemed more complete to me. I did take advantage and have coral paint coming my way
