Insurance premiums stay lower (theoretically) when there are fewer claims made. No confusion about who pays those premiums. I completely disagree with you on this. I did not use my insurance at all, not a penny for Seven years. My premiums went up every year. And the first time I used it (after seven years), my insurance company disputed it, because my Medicare kicked in 6 weeks into my hospitalization. The first 6 weeks of my hospitalization remain unpaid, by my insurance company, after almost a year. It is under 'review'.

I saw the 'theoretically', but that is not how things work.
Theoretically, politicians have ethics Theoretically, all people are treated equally. Theoretically, all people have affordable, and equal healthcare. Theoretically, health care insurance does not increase in premium prices, however, since Insurance reverted from a Not For Profit enterprise (another Republican policy,Nixon) into a solid business model, health insurance premiums continue to increase, regardless of lack of claims by the insured.

Part 1: Does that apply to the emergency room also? Part 2: Do Canadians have some sort of proof of citizenship they carry around? How would the clinic know if you are really a citizen or not? And this is just random: Is it true that in Canada, U.S. sweatpants are called ball pants? We had a Canadian visitor and he called them ball pants. We thought it was funny. 1. I’m fairly sure you can pay cash at the emergency room too. 2. We show our health care card and a photo ID here in Alberta. 3. I’ve never heard of ball pants. Except maybe those white cropped ones that baseball players wear? Everybody I know calls casual fleece pants sweatpants. Well that's interesting that you have to show your provincial health care card AND a photo ID in Alberta. In Ontario we just have to show our health card. I've never heard of sweatpants called ball pants either.

The first 6 weeks of my hospitalization remain unpaid, by my insurance company, after almost a year. It is under 'review'. You must not understand how insurance works. Everyone pays premiums and everyone experiences an increase in those premiums when payouts are made in order to keep the system solvent. Whether yours or someone else's. We also 'pay' in the form of denied claims because well, that's what insurance companies do. They deny your claim and hope you won't fight it. It's been that way for generations. Paul will not be using his insurance for his choice of care, therefore there will be no 'ding' to taxpayers. This is a non-starter. Now, if you're angry that he makes so much damn money that he can afford to just pull the many thousands of dollars out of his back pocket like he's paying for a cup of coffee when the majority of Americans can't even imagine being able to do so, then I'm with you on that. On all other points, your argument is nonsensical.

OntarioScrapper Our health care ‘cards’ are actually flimsy pieces of paper and do not have a photo on them. So we must show photo ID.
