Alex Schiller ... ”The he-said-she-said-they-said-the-native-said game is getting real weird, and I'm still wondering why a bunch of white boys in MAGA hats were on a school field trip to protest women's rights.” That’s what I’m wondering. They weren't protesting women's rights, they were for life. Which is taking away the LEGAL rights of women. You’re really a piece of work.

Until those claiming they are “for life” address the gun crisis in this country, they are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. That being the case, they are protesting a woman’s right to chose. Protesting women choosing to stop the life of a person growing in her womb. Until those claiming "if more gun laws can save even one life" address the "right to CHOOSE to end a life she created", they're nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. See, it goes both ways. Nice spin but “For Life” or “Pro life” are specific and means all life. Otherwise they should be clearer and change their slogan to “We are for life/pro life unless it involves guns, then not so much”. Or maybe change their slogan altogether to “pro birth” because once the woman is forced to have the child, we don’t care what happens to it.” While pro choice is ambiguous.

No, it really doesn’t... My legal right to my body is not to be trumped by your religious belief that you have a right to control it. You cannot force your religious beliefs upon a person. And yes, women CAN legally choose this option. The hypocritical rhetoric from the religious right is astounding. The religious right/conservative/republican will vote to take away the legal rights of women having control over their own bodies, and at the same time, those same hypocrites will vote to defund planned parenthood, WIC, aid to families, hold and separate migrant children in negligent facilities from their families, defund victim rights/violence against women, vote for and support men who cheat on their wives/have affairs/demand abortions from mistresses (both politicians and religious leaders)...

Just keep reminding the "pro-lifers" that they can control who uses their organs, blood, bone marrow; when, and for how long too. Same goes for a pregnant women. Only the woman can decide who may use HER body to sustain/support the life of another. Otherwise, let's line everyone up for forced organ, blood, marrow donation so that they can prevent others from dying.

trump again... ”Democrats are kidding themselves (they don’t really believe it!) if they say you can stop Crime, Drugs, Human Trafficking and Caravans without a Wall or Steel Barrier. Stop playing games and give America the Security it deserves. A Humanitarian Crisis!” They come by the boat, they come by plane, they come by car through checkpoints and they come by tunnel under the “wall or steel barrier”. So who is really kidding themselves? Try this Republican from Texas on Fox even www.foxnews.com/politics/gop-texas-congressman-calls-border-crisis-a-mythPretty much the only Republican legislator in this state for whom I have any respect.

Igor Bobic
“McConnell on floor urging Democrats to "put country over party" and "take yes for an answer” on Trump’s offer.
He calls it the "only proposal currently before us that can be signed by the president and immediately reopen the government."
Mitch McConnell really used “country over party”? Really? How tragically funny.

Until Those who claim they are ‘for life’ address the fact that they want to eliminate the food stamps and wic for single mothers with jobs that don’t pay them enough to live. You can’t really have ‘life’ Without food. I won’t even start with medical care. Why does a arasitic fetus have more right than a living child who’s parents hit hard times? AND before you go there with the don’t have kids until yourcmarried - some of these women lost their spouses to cancer, gun violence & military service. But you try to feed a family of 3 on $35,000/year in NJ where rents are around $1500/month FOR LOW INCOME.

It makes no sense for any president to give a SOTU address when the government is partially closed. But instead of thinking this through trump adopts the attitude “I’m president and nobody can tell me what to do”. Or more realistically, “I’m donald j trump and nobody can tell me what to do.”
NPR..
”White House officials are aiming for President Trump's State of the Union speech to occur before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, Jan. 29 — despite Speaker Nancy Pelosi urging Trump to delay the address.”
And this ...
”But there must be a joint resolution passed first. Trump can not speak before Congress without an invitation”
So curious I looked it up in the History, Art, & Archives of the House Of Representatives .
A Joint Session takes place when the House and Senate adopt a concurrent resolution. Joint Sessions typically are reserved to hear an address from the President of the United States or to count presidential electoral votes as specified by the U.S. Constitution (Article I, section 1; 12th Amendment). On January 6, 1941, two Joint Sessions were held the same day: to count the presidential electoral votes and to hear President Franklin Roosevelt deliver his Annual Message to Congress.
And From McClatchy..
“Pelosi can prevent an agreement to meet in a joint session.
A joint session isn’t an ad hoc event. Both the House and Senate must formally agree to the session by adopting a “concurrent resolution.”
These resolutions are typically noncontroversial, often simply advanced by voice vote or what’s called unanimous consent, meaning no one objects so the measure is agreed to.
Pelosi, as the speaker, can control whether this resolution comes up for a vote at all in the House — or, if it does, she can urge her members to vote “no.” If there’s no joint session of Congress, Trump can’t come to the House floor to deliver his address.”

Pretty much the only Republican legislator in this state for whom I have any respect. but he has all totally valid points - logical & everything. I saw him the other day on cbs and he was explaining that many of those areas have the river as a barrier and even if border patrol knows someone is approaching the river the response time is so long that the wall won’t help anyway. He said the response times range from several hours to several days in some areas. Dudes- they can take build a door in the wall in several days?

More numbers... ”Trump's 41 or 42% against all Democrats pretty much tracks with his approval rating. 40% approve of the job he's doing to 57% who disapprove:” ”Trump continues to lose the shutdown. Only 35% of voters agree government should remain closed until he gets funding for the wall, 60% disagree. 57% think Congress should vote today to reopen government without funding the wall, 38% opposed:” ”55% of voters say the shutdown is the fault of Trump and the Republicans in Congress, to 43% who blame the Democrats. Voters would rather have either Chuck Schumer (46-41) or Nancy Pelosi (47-44) as President than Trump:” “45% of voters think that Trump has committed crimes since his Presidential bid began, 41% don't think he has. 61% think if Mueller investigation finds crimes that he should be indicted and prosecuted in courts. 46% support for impeachment, 44% opposed:” ”Trump continues to lose all his fights with the media. Voters trust: CBS over him 52/38 NBC and the Washington Post over him 51/38 ABC and the New York Times over him 51/39 CNN over him 49/39:” “38% of voters think Trump has delivered on his core promise to 'Make America Great Again,' 55% say he has not.On a related note 38% say their economic situation has improved in last 2 years. 60% say it has gotten worse (28%) or stayed the same (32%):”“Historic context. 44% say Trump is worst President of last 40 years. 15% say he's the best. Obama wins best with 31% to 26% for Reagan, 15% for Trump, 11% for Clinton. Trump wins worst with 44% to 31% for Obama, no one else in double digits:” “Voters wish Obama was still President instead of Trump, 53/43.
And they wish Hillary Clinton was President instead of Trump, 49/43:”This is disturbing (from above) 61% think if Mueller investigation finds crimes that he should be indicted and prosecuted in courts.
Does the 39% believe that for crimes in general!? Or only crimes of their dear leader 🤔. Un-effing-believable!

linkSo this guy wrote an Op-Ed in the New York Times and was just on MSNBC talking about it. “ The Shutdown Shows the Weakness of the Resistance“. By David Leonhardt From the article... ”The grass-roots progressive movement known as the resistance has had a very good two years. It beat back attempts to take health insurance away from millions of Americans, and it helped defeat a Republican House majority that was enabling President Trump. Neither of those outcomes looked likely when he took office. But the government shutdown has shown the limits of this new progressive movement. The resistance has had virtually no effect on the politics of the shutdown — and a stronger movement could have a big effect. When I’ve spoken to people from other countries over the past couple of weeks, they have been shocked that Americans have not begun protesting the shutdown in large numbers. About 800,000 federal workers have now gone almost a month without getting paid. Some are struggling to pay their rent or buy medications. Some have gone to pawn shops to get cash. Major functions of government — airline security, food safety, mortgage processing, farm assistance and so on — have been impaired.” Me - Protests are fine, but let’s face it, in spite of all the protests during the “let’s repeal the ACA” time, the bill has pretty much been gutted. The women’s marches have accomplished what exactly? Other then fighting among the leaders/founders this last time out. I read that a march was canceled in a No. CA town because the organizers felt it was too white and would send the wrong message. The real work of the resistance is and has been through the ballot box. That is where real change is going to come from. You get good people to run for office, work to get them elected, and them show up to vote and bring your friend or neighbor or the guy around the block with you when you vote. That is where change is coming from. Having said that, I really believe if the TSA Agents and Air Traffic Cintrollers stay off the job until they are paid, the airports would shut down, travel would stop, and there would be massive protests, and not just from the resistance. The government would open sooo fast. Accordinging to this guy it may be illegal if it was determined it was a strike. But I like the chances that it wouldn’t be found illegal because the are required to work and how long they have had to go since they were last paid.

I have no doubt! If he fires them how does that get the planes flying again? I know Reagan fired the air traffic controllers, but this would be a bigger mess because it would include the TSA Agents. You think any airline is going to put planes in the air without security checks? That time in our history has passed sadly.

Taking care of his base!! He is forcing these people and others to work without pay. He is bringing them back one group at a time. Why is there a need for the shutdown? USDA to recall more than 9,000 furloughed workers to provide farm aidBY SYLVAN LANE - 01/22/19 04:35 PM EST The Agriculture Department (USDA) on Tuesday announced it would call back to work more than 9,700 employees currently furloughed during the government shutdown to help provide financial assistance to farmers and ranchers. ** Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said in a statement that the USDA would reopen all Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices starting Jan. 24, allowing farmers and ranchers to apply for loans and financial assistance. Perdue also said the USDA would extend a deadline for farmer and ranchers harmed by retaliatory tariffs to February 14 to apply for a special aid program announced by Trump administration in July. ** The Trump administration has called back to work thousands of federal employees previously deemed “nonessential” to help ease some of the economic pain felt by Americans during the shutdown. Democrats and left-leaning government watchdog groups have raised legal questions about the recalls, and have blasted Trump for what they call an effort to prolong the shutdown. Two federal employees unions have also sued the Trump administration for forcing furloughed workers back to the office without pay. “I have some questions about how the Administration is arbitrarily picking and choosing which agencies to reopen in the middle of the shutdown,” said Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), who represents a state with thousands of federal employees. ** thehill.com/policy/finance/426485-usda-to-recall-more-than-9000-furloughed-workers-to-provide-farm-aid

You can't put lipstick on a pig and make it look better. 😀😀😀 Wait, lol better than the pig previously looked? Or better than photo shopped pictures of Trump? 😜 Real pig or Muppet pig? Because I’m thinking Mrs piggy didn’t look bad at all. You know she had fabulous eyelashes Oh heavens, I would never insult Miss Piggy like that! 😀. But, either of the other two choices. There's just no way to help that pig!

I'm not getting into an abortion or gun debate with you, just trying to let you know that people that are pro-life are not pro-life so they can control women. They're pro-life because they believe in the right to life, even the life of a developing person. The existence of guns doesn't take away anyone's right to life, while abortion advocates argue to do just that. So really... equating the two is equating apples and cows.

If the developing person is INSIDE another person then the person they're INSIDE of, gets to decide who can use their organs, when and for how long; just like you or any other person gets to decide who can use your organs for their life support. Just because someone will die w/o your organs, doesn't mean they have any rights to use your body without your continued permission.
Now, on other subjects
