Ugh - I'd be annoyed, too, elaine! I hope you feel better & have a great race anyways. I'm sorry to have not started a new thread & to have been fairly absent on this one. My nephew was in a pretty serious accident & it's just been a crappy, crazy week. If someone wants to start a new thread, please do. Otherwise, I'll start one Sunday. (((Hugs))). I hope that your nephew heals quickly. Please don't worry about the thread. We are fine here and can worry about a new one on Sunday or Monday when Kymberlee can share with you all that she kicked my butt at the ATM!

I don't mind the no music thing since there will be plenty of entertainment and spectators on the course, but I am really miffed about the phone deal. I will probably tuck it into my bra when I pass through security. I will never find anyone after the race if I don't have my phone with me. Most of the people I have talked to that have run in the past said that the phone thing was not really an issue. They aren't really checking that hard. My DH will be with me so I can just give it to him if they make a stink. I'm just not comfortable without my phone just in case something happens. Silly…I think I read too many spy novels. What wave are you in, elaine? ETA: Ha! I don't think butt kicking is anywhere in my future, Elaine. I'm just so excited to run this race, I might blow through the first couple of miles on adrenaline alone. My pokey self is just happy to finish.

How do they know you don't have it? Mine sits in my hip belt pocket. Do you think too many people were taking pictures and this was their genius solution ban all phones? I think that we are going to be scanned on the way into the starting corrals. Given that it starts near the Pentagon, who knows what types of technology they are going to use. I wear my phone in a belt too, and I'm guessing they will be checking them. A strip search!

Head cold is still getting worse, rather than better yet. I'm so hoping for a miraculous recovery tomorrow. My sinuses are so bad that my upper teeth hurt.
All I managed today was the 30 minute drive to the Metro and the hour-long metro ride to the ATM Expo. They opened it 2 hours early for those with military ID, and it was nice to bypass the growing line out front for packet pick-up. Got my bib and shirt in record time and then did 10 push ups at the Army Reserve Booth and got a bag packed with really nice Army swag - travel mug, baseball cap, knit beanie, tire pressure gauge, and nice string pack. The shirt is nice, but unfortunately for me, it is white. I will stain it within 30 minutes or less the first time I put it on.
I am planning on lots of sleeping tomorrow and hoping my head drains! At least it is 3 miles shorter than a half marathon, so I should be able to do it.

Thank you to everybody motivating me to try running outside. I think I've mentioned before I'm working on the C25K. Up until now, the most I've run is 5 minutes at a time. Today I was supposed to 8 minutes, which had me terrified. I went out by the lake to run, and it was fantastic. Normally I'm gasping and dying by the end of each interval, but I felt like I could keep going easily. So much better. Thank you guys so much for encouraging me. I'll be back at school for the next run (20 minutes continously), and I'll definitely be doing that on the greenway

I'm still fairly miserable and coughing some now, how about you? I have my bib pinned on and clothes laid out. I'm trying to figure out what sweats my boys have outgrown that I can wear and then donate at the starting corral as it is supposed to be 45 at start time. I'll be fine in a skirt and tank once we start running, but need something on my legs and arms while standing around. Did you enjoy the Expo? anniefb, yay you for getting in that last long run! Try to enjoy your taper.

I'm thankful Mr. AB is home now and I'm not "winging it" around the farm. Spent the whole day laying about and not doing a damn thing. I didn't get real clothes on until noon. And I *know* you know how unusual that is!

I'm still congested but feeling pretty decent. I think the sun is going to come out tomorrow which is awesome. I'm sorry the crud has you feeling so crappy, elaine. I just walked in the door from the RWB pasta dinner which was pretty cool. We got some cool RWB coins and a bag with tons of swag. I have everything laid out, also. I'm trying to decide if I want to carry water or not. I know they will have plenty on the course, but I like to have my own.
