I’d rather pay more for things I love, then buy something I don’t love and won’t wear. If you love it, and can afford it, enjoy it. Obviously if it causes financial strain, then no, otherwise enjoy.

If it’s wearable for skiing, it’s probably also wearable for general cold weather, right? Can it become your “it’s cold out and I’m going for a walk” shirt? Something you can wear more than just for skiing but will give you a little pleasure every time you use it?
It’s a lot of money for a garment for me, I am a $12 t-shirt and $20 jeans kind of girl, but I know how it is to love an item and really want to own it despite the price tag.

Assuming you can afford it, if I loved it, I would keep it. Sometimes its nice to splurge on something!

Personally, I would take it back. Most everything at ski resorts are more expensive than non-resort items. Start googling the item and see if you can get is cheaper somewhere else.

I’d take it back because I’d always feel I spent too much on it and worry about damaging it in some way. I’d rather spend that money on a piece of jewelry or some piece or art to remember the trip by.

It's a shirt. Yes, obviously I misread it.
You're probably too old for it now.pjaye - why so mean? kibblesandbits - you're NEVER too old for sheer and glittery and beautiful! Wear that shirt- just get it out and wear it! Put it on with jean or capris or whatever and wear it! Nothing you love should sit in the closet or drawer unworn!

Zee , the husband won’t go with me to return it cuz he’s embarrassed. I’m not...I’m just gonna tell them it didn’t fit. I am sure people return things that don't fit. If it still bothers you, return it.

I was going to say keep it, but then I checked out how much 275 Euros would be in Canadian dollars (415!) - and now I'm thinking holy crap thats a lot of money for a ski shirt.
But I really want to see a picture of it

I'm caught between keep and return. If I knew I was going to ski once a year, I would keep it. If I knew I would probably never wear it again I would return it. But I am more likely to look for it online and see if I can find it cheaper. This is how I feel too, exactly. I’d be googling it on my phone to see how much it is supposed to cost before I pulled the trigger, but since it’s already bought and paid for I’d be leaning toward keep it. FWIW, If you really love it and it fits you well, you’ll be more likely to wear it often maybe even when you’re not skiing. That would make it more worth the price. I have things that I’ve owned and worn for decades, sometimes until they literally fall apart. Even if the things were expensive initially, I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth. LOL, we’re going to WDW soon and to ward off the ‘I *HAVE* to have that!’ feeling I get when I’m going through one of the dozens of gift shops there, I bought all of us new Mickey shirts and other stuff online when disneystore.com had their big twice annual sale. So we will be going on vacation with our “expensive” souvenir shirts already bought, and for only about 30% of what we would pay at the parks. I haven't been to Disney since my kids were younger. As much as I enjoy Disney, can we not have a major ride exit through a toy store? They really know how to annoy parents and make money.
I'm not an impulse shopper, so I'd return the shirt and use the money for something fun, but that's just me. You have do what feels right to you. If you just purchased it then there's no need to be embarrassed.

When my kids were little, I made them go through the gift shop at our zoo when we left. I kept telling them the items were just to look at, but if they saw something they really liked, it might show up at Christmas or their birthday. By the time we got to the car, it was generally forgotten. We had a zoo pass and went at least twice a month.

When the kids were little, we would tell the kids to write down what they saw in souvenir shops that they liked. Then on the last day of the vacation, they could choose one thing that they wanted. It helped with the impulse buys, the gimmies, and made them thoughtful consumers. They are adults now and still do the same. And the Yes Day. They were allowed one treat/dessert type item a day on vacation. But one day was a Yes Day. We ate donuts for breakfast, ice cream for lunch, and cotton candy for dinner. They still tease me and ask for a Yes Day. As for the ski shirt, I say yes if it doesn't cut into your day to day bills. A nice black UnderArmor one is about $100, so another $200 for a fancy floral one from a resort shop isn't too crazy. But I'd probably google how much it is online and then decide. But I sure would feel posh wearing $300 ski togs!

It was in their heads and not written down. Now I joke w/them that if they ever pulled out a list I'd be in big trouble. They're adults. We did the same thing as you and on the final day they could choose the one item they really wanted, w/in reason. I love your Yes day idea. What a great way to give your kids some fun choices and fond memories.

I’m still wearing a ski jumper I was given when I was 14. I’m 51 now and comes out every ski season. My DH bought me a similarly priced cardigan in Iceland when we visited. I say if you can afford it, love it and can see yourself wearing it for years, keep it BUT enjoy it. Let go of any guilt you have associated with it. In the UK at least you could spend that on one meal out with family and then it’s gone. Ditto, a weekend away. Enjoyed for a few hours then over. Also, as all good shoppers know, the real price of something is the amount you paid for it divided by the number of times you wear or use it. My Vitamix cost me pennies ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I'd keep it - unless you have a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach wondering how you're going to eat when you get back home. Otherwise, it's okay to splurge and buy something that makes you happy every once in a while.

He still does a little dance when he puts frozen foods into the cart. My rule is, if you'll eat it, get it. His dad's rule is buy it yourself. Funny he never asks his dad to get him into either place.

In fact, I caught DS and DD whispering together at the end of the aisle the day we moved her into her freshman dorm. They were strategizing about what they were going to con me into getting for their dorms. But the joke was on them—they were both asking for practical things and my bill was still less than I’d planned. So who won that day? All of us!

Any chance you can find it elsewhere for less? That’s my practical side talking. But the bigger, less practical side is definitely in the love it/keep it camp.

I need to return the shirt, right? Here's the thing about vacations - we like to keep souvenirs. If you buy no other souvenirs, maybe even cut back on something like drinks with meals (even sodas can cost a lot) you will be re-allocating some of that spending money to something that will last longer and mean more. A good shirt can last a very long time. Think how many smiles & happy memories you'll get from it and add that in to the cost. Is it worth more than 50 sodas to you?

you can perhaps retract or mitigate your snarky comments alluding to the OP's poor taste WTF is up with you? You need to stop reading my posts through your own warped filter. I read "skirt" & I looked up ski skirts, they are a real item...I said I don't think they are practical or look good. BUT the OP was never talking about skirts anyway, so therefore anything I said about not liking them doesn't even apply to her. Even if I thought they looked great...my answer would be the same. Seeing as you've volunteered to "get offended on everyone's behalf" today...knock yourself out anyway. I was trying to picture a skirt too. 🤣

There's no way I could justify any article of clothing for that price. I would take a picture of it and see if I could find it online for a cheaper price but return it regardless.
