So, I need to find 50 blank notebooks for kids at summer camp to turn into a Monster Book of Monsters from Harry Potter. Problem is that I need them to be inexpensive, I have looked at several thrift stores but can’t find more then 1 or 2 and even then they are at least a dollar each. I could spend a dollar each on them, but then my budget goes down for other things. Any idea on where I could buy such a thing cheap?
They don’t need to have fancy covers, we are going to be covering them with faux fur, and if the covers are thin we can glue cardboard to them first to make them thicker.
I also need to find 50 plastic jars that we can use for capturing Cornish Pixies, I was thinking of the little round bottles that Making Memories used to use, they look like old fashioned candy jars (the round kind that are flat on the sides), but again finding 50 for a reasonable price is hard. Any ideas on where to look for those?
I am hoping some of you wonderful shopping and googling savvy peas will be able to help, so far I am not having much luck.

I’d use the lined composition books. The kids won’t care if they are lined and you can always add a drawing on blank copy paper to them.
As for the jars, I’d ask friends, family, neighbors, anyone, to save jelly jars, pickle jars, etc. presumably you have a few months to collect them. Amazon also sells empty jars.

Good point about lined, I would prefer black so they can draw, but they can glue their drawings in. I can’t use glass jars otherwise I would be set with all the oui jars I have been saving for goodness knows what.

School supply sales start here around 4th of July or so. I’ll bet they will have notebooks in stores everywhere cheap by then, two or three for a dollar for the basic 70 sheet lined ones.

Sadly they won’t work for Cornish Pixies, but I am totally going to try to think of something else to use those for! I do have a holiday week I am planning, maybe we can make lip balm for Mother’s Day activities? I wonder how that would work?

That is ridiculous that they charge shipping per item and not a bulk shipping price. Sorry, I did not realize that. If you go to Aliexpress and put in blank notebook for your search and then choose free shipping you may find something. Also search for lots instead of individual piece prices. Are these too little?

I have about 8 plastic Pedigree or Purina dog treat containers. They are bigger than what you are describing but if you can use them, I will send them to you. I will have more by summer. They are the ones that have the little sausage and white small dog on front. I hate to throw them out so I usually put them on facebook for frew and someone usually takes them.

Just an FYI... composition books can be cut in two with a chop saw/miter saw.

Nope. The shipping is way too high. Especially when you can choose a similar item for free shipping.

How many pages do your notebooks need to have? It sounds like you are planning to make or modify covers anyway, what if you buy storybook paper , make your covers and staple the pages together, or just use copy paper to do the same?
