”For 10 months, China has been paying Tariffs to the USA of 25% on 50 Billion Dollars of High Tech, and 10% on 200 Billion Dollars of other goods. These payments are partially responsible for our great economic results. The 10% will go up to 25% on Friday. 325 Billions Dollars....”
”....of additional goods sent to us by China remain untaxed, but will be shortly, at a rate of 25%. The Tariffs paid to the USA have had little impact on product cost, mostly borne by China. The Trade Deal with China continues, but too slowly, as they attempt to renegotiate. No!”
Either he doesn’t understand or he does and he thinks he can con the American People. There are articles about people who are suffering from his “partial reason for our great economic results”.

Just remembered what Christie said about the 2 trillion infrastructure talks with dt, Pelosi and Schumer.... He said that dt wants it because talk about pumping 2 trillion into the economy means more jobs, bigger pay.. Long term..... dt can say it will be more and more even after 2020 ...........

Oh, HE!! NO............. No maga bonds!! Infrastructure that is not maintained costs jobs and costs citizens money in the form of lost income from time wasted in travel or repairs to vehicles damaged by crumbling roads. So, while there is little argument that America’s infrastructure is in need of immediate attention, the question is, "How do we pay for it?" I have an answer: The president should announce a bond program called "MAGA Bonds," named after his campaign slogan of "Make America Great Again." Bonds are a great investment, and they often provide a patriotic and needed purpose. In this case, they would enable private Americans and a variety of institutions to invest in the bonds to do their parts in helping to make the country greater, better, stronger. Moreover, bonds do not burden today’s taxpayers because they allow big improvements to be amortized over the period of the life of the improvement. I would suggest that the MAGA bonds be sold in 10-, 15-, 20- and 25-year editions. This could adequately spread out the costs of projects while allowing a good return for the investor.Surely the name “MAGA Bonds” would never be agreed to by any congressional Democrats, or even by some Republicans — but that would not stop the POTUS from calling them such, should it turn out that the sale of infrastructure bonds is a viable funding scheme. ** thehill.com/opinion/finance/442178-creating-maga-bonds-could-be-the-key-to-funding-us-infrastructure-needsSure spread out the payments on bonds......... like our kids and their kids won't be paying for the huge tax cuts for the wealthy from 2017!

I’m not even sure that can be done. I’m assuming you mean have the Sergeant at Arms arrest him? You and I both have been around a very long time. Have you actually seen this happen? Not necessarily the AG, but they did someone in 1935(?) or so they have said on TV! Are you talking about MacCracken? Well, if the House can do it, I say do it. In essence, what I’m saying is it’s time to be aggressive. If this were the Republicans, we’d already have a perp walk by now and it’ll be on TV. Dems should be cautious but not too cautious to the point of being perceived as weak and ineffective.

And, these "jobs" are a ton of extreme-part-time jobs that are handed out by these corporations who have been skipping on taxes, getting their pay increases and hiring tons of part time people as a solution. Anything under 40 hours/week CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be considered in the jobs category. It's yet another sham!

He’s at the wholesaler restocking the truck almost every work day. I’m sure a good percentage of the parts are made outside of the U.S. probably in China or Mexico. There are no longer any options to “buy American” and even if there was, many of the component parts aren’t made here anyway. We’re in the process of going through our previous invoices to determine which services need immediate price increases to offset the higher cost of materials that we’re getting dinged with daily on every job. He works on a pretty low profit margin and there is no way we can continue to eat these higher costs, we have to pass them on to the clients. Eventually everyone all the way down the line is going to feel the pain from all the added tariffs.

Someone is nervous...
”After spending more than $35,000,000 over a two year period, interviewing 500 people, using 18 Trump Hating Angry Democrats & 49 FBI Agents - all culminating in a more than 400 page Report showing NO COLLUSION - why would the Democrats in Congress now need Robert Mueller.......
”....to testify. Are they looking for a redo because they hated seeing the strong NO COLLUSION conclusion? There was no crime, except on the other side (incredibly not covered in the Report), and NO OBSTRUCTION. Bob Mueller should not testify. No redos for the Dems!”
”Redos” really? I guess trump missed the part at the end of the “obstruction “ section. Or he is ignoring all 10 potential obstruction acts.

I hear similar situations from thousands of Americans, which is why I'm honestly at a loss to hear that we're all supposedly doing so wonderfully right now under this "God" of a 'President'. I don't see it AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!! He & his administration have all gutted programs for the elderly, indigent, disabled, and they've made it more difficult for more Americans to get by (like your husband). They're making it almost impossible to try to only use American products or stick with manufacturing only in America. Shoot, he doesn't stick to that motto!!! And on top of it he's given the very top % of wealthy people even more breaks. Makes NO sense to me. Again, I'm sorry that your husband is seeing the direct result of these stupid tariff ideas that affect his business here in the U.S. It's short-sighted and stupid.

I feel so enraged every time I see Lowest Unemployment being touted in the news with DT's smug face alongside it. Wanna know how it is in my neck of the woods? Unless you have a highly specialized career, like a doctor or lawyer, you are competing with hundreds of applicants for low paying part time jobs. Many b&m retail stores are closing here. And any retail that is left is either not hiring and working on a skeleton crew, or hires only part time. Many shifts are split shift, working 2 hours in the morning, then two in the evening. Or they are only letting people work 8-10 hours a week, but won t even consider hiring you unless you have full availability, available any day, any shift, and willing to come in with an hour's notice. Then there's automation. Fast food here has a screen for the customer to place their own order, a card reader to process their own payment. Most McD 's only have 1 manager & 1 employee at any given time. Also, unemployment numbers only count those who are able to collect unemployment. You work 10 hours a week? Apparently you are a complete success.

Apparently you are a complete success. Don't believe that doctors and lawyers are all doing well. I have both in my family and they're not all doing supremely well. Things have gotten worse for them in the past 2 years!!! Doctors have much more paperwork to do and they're accepting more medicare patients, so they're very busy and not making tons of money (unless you are a plastic surgeon!). Attorneys are extremely busy with the new tax law, so they're doing much more work (real estate law) for the same amount of money they got before. Lucky to be busy, but not making more money.
The jobs #s really irk me. You got it exactly right!!!!! When my son worked in Kohl's, he'd be bordering on full time, but they'd play tricks to keep it listed as part time. They'd keep workers on 5 hours' per week while asking my son to fill in with even more hours!! Those 5 hour/week jobs really should not be added to the jobs #s!!!!!!!!!! It's a sham!
Thank YOU for adding to this topic. Glad I'm not alone in my assessment!

The Salt Lake Tribune..
“Tribune Editorial: Ambition must be made to counteract ambition”
“But the great security against a gradual concentration of the several powers in the same department, consists in giving to those who administer each department the necessary constitutional means and personal motives to resist encroachments of the others. The provision for defense must in this, as in all other cases, be made commensurate to the danger of attack. Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.” — James Madison, Federalist No. 51”
Mr. Madison’s plan for the survival of popular government was nowhere to be seen last week, as Republican members of Congress put their loyalty to a president of their own party ahead of their sworn duty to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
By abandoning the role the Constitution assigns them, to jealously defend the power of their branch of government against encroachments by other branches, Republicans in Congress surrender their duty, their power and their part in defending American democracy.
Ambition no longer counteracts ambition.
And for what?
To get themselves on the good side of a chief executive who is so clearly corrupt, engaging in obstruction, campaign and ethics violations, using the presidency as a cash cow for his personal business interests, who disrespects the separation of powers, freedom of the press, the rights of minorities and immigrants and our long-standing international alliances.
Some will look at the situation and argue that the Democrats are being as partisan in their questioning of the president and his attorney general as the Republicans are in their defense of both.
Maybe. But there can be no question that, at least in the matter that was before the Senate Judiciary Committee the other day, these blind squirrels have come upon a very large cache of nuts.
Senate Republicans, including Utah’s Mike Lee, spent the day feeding Attorney General William Barr softball questions and trying to make the case that there was nothing to see, there’s no collusion and no corruption and no obstruction of justice. Time to move along.
These are arguments that can only come from willful partisan ignorance of the facts as they are before us.
The report from special counsel Robert Mueller laid out a litany of fishy contacts during the campaign and acts by the new president that would have been obstruction of justice if anyone had carried out the president’s orders. Or if it were considered possible, as Justice Department guidelines faithfully followed by the Mueller team says it is not, to indict a sitting president.
Mueller’s handicap through all of this is that he is an honorable man who stands by the rule of law, operating in a city that is neither. Investigating a president through the federal grand jury system is difficult because prosecutors are used to assembling and presenting their evidence in secret and only making it public if there is an indictment — which triggers a process in which the accused is able to defend himself.
No indictment, because the president can’t be indicted, means no trial. Means no chance for the president to defend himself. Means it all gets packed up and delivered to the attorney general and then, maybe, to Congress and to the American people.
One bright spot in all of this — small but important — is the call from Utah’s other senator, Mitt Romney, for Congress to hear from Mueller directly. That is exactly what should happen, and soon.
It may be painful for the special counsel to publicly call out the attorney general for willfully misrepresenting — that is, lying about — the conclusions of his report and the underlying evidence.
But Mueller can handle it. Even if the Republicans in Congress cannot.

So this is where donnie dimwit got the notion that two years were stolen of his presidency..
Jerry Faiwell.
”After the best week ever for @realdonaldtrump - no obstruction, no collusion, NYT admits @barackobama did spy on his campaign, & the economy is soaring. I now support reparations-Trump should have 2 yrs added to his 1st term as pay back for time stolen by this corrupt failed coup”
By that analogy, President Obama should get another 8 years because of “Mitch McConnell claiming he would see nothing got done while President Obama was in office. Even managed to steal a Supreme Court Justice pick from President Obama”.

CNBC..
”Dow futures drop more than 450 points as China considers skipping trade talks”
CNBC.com A sharp sell-off will start the week on Wall Street after President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the U.S. will hike tariffs on goods imported from China, casting doubt on recent optimism that the world's two largest economies were close to a resolution to their trade battle.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures implied an opening decline of more than 450 points as of Sunday evening stateside. S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 Index futures also pointed to declines for the two indexes at Monday's open.
China's stock markets, meanwhile, suffered significant losses in their morning trade.

”Also, there are “No High Crimes & Misdemeanors,” No Collusion, No Conspiracy, No Obstruction. ALL THE CRIMES ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE, and that’s what the Dems should be looking at, but they won’t. Nevertheless, the tables are turning!”

The bolded part above scares the living crap out of me that some people might actually think this may be a good and “fair” idea. This is how our democracy crumbles bit by bit, and the next thing you know we have a dictator instead of a president. Everyone should be very, very concerned by all of the incremental erosions to our separations of power in government.

NBC...
“Kurt Bardella Trump's subpoena obstruction has fractured the Constitution's system of checks and balances”
“Millions of Americans voted in favor of a stronger check on power by ushering in a new Democratic majority in the House. That mandate is being ignored.
Thursday, May 2, 2019, felt like the end of checks and balances in America. It was the day that the Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee stood by and supported the executive branch’s decision to ignore a lawful subpoena issued by the legislative branch. At this moment in time, we no longer really have co-equal branches of government. And without this system, created with care by the Founding Fathers, we edge ever close to a dictatorship.
I spent five years working for Republicans on the House Oversight Committee during the Obama administration and I can tell you the level of blatant obstruction we are seeing from Trump and his cronies is on a totally different level from what the GOP was dealing with. At this point, the only real recourse for Democrats is to compel cooperation is to initiate impeachment proceedings and activate broader powers to enforce their subpoenas as Congress did with President Richard Nixon. This executive branch is flagrantly undermining the legislative branch. And it clearly thinks it can get away with it.
Our entire federal system is predicated on the idea that fidelity to our constitutionally mandated rules of governance supersedes political party. That even in the most partisan of environments, Republicans and Democrats acknowledge and respect the role that the branches of government play in limiting absolute power. But what happens when that respect is obliterated? When one branch of government decides to go rogue and ignore the constitutional authority of another?
Unfortunately, this is no longer a theoretical exercise to be examined and debated in the safe confines of a civics class. It is happening right now, before our very eyes.
Democracy is about choice. The people who serve in Congress weren’t installed by decree or birthright, but by a free vote of free people. By ignoring the authority of the Congress, Trump and his followers are ignoring the will of the American people. By shutting out the legislative branch, Trump and his administration are thumbing their noses at the Framers’ framework, and everything it represents.
If there is a policy this White House does not like, it unilaterally changes it. If there’s a question Trump officials don’t want to answer, they don’t show up, as Attorney General William Barr did this week. If there’s information they want to keep hidden from the American people, they sue a co-equal branch of government to keep it secret.
And the problem is just getting worse. Barr, who sounds increasingly like a White House spokesperson and not top law enforcement officials, defied a subpoena to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday morning. The Department of Trump — I mean, Justice — ignored a subpoena deadline to produce to Congress the unredacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report and the underlying evidence used to compile it. This prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., to send a final counteroffer to Barr. If Barr does not comply by Monday, Nadler wrote, the panel will initiate contempt proceedings.
Also last week, the White House informed House Democrats that it would not comply with a request for documents related to security clearances. Our Supreme Leader — I mean President, Donald J. Trump — has sued two banks in an effort to block them from complying with subpoenas from the House Oversight Committee related to his and his family’s finances.
Partisanship and obstruction is sadly not uncommon in America’s political system. But by continuing to push the boundaries, Trump has exposed a flaw within the framework of our political composition. Congress is effectively powerless to make the executive branch do anything. They can issue subpoenas. Those subpoenas can be ignored. They can hold people in contempt. But of course, any U.S. attorney capable of prosecuting contempt can be fired by the attorney general. If they go to court, it’ll take years to get resolved.
Moreover, when it comes to Trump and Congressional Republicans, there is little good faith left — if any. There certainly isn’t much trust. With the backing of the White House, Republicans believe they can effectively bully Democrats. And Democrats, led by the conventionally cautious wisdom of lawmakers like Rep. Nancy Pelosi, are increasingly trapped by the process. If they remain unwilling to deviate from conventional tactics, they will not be able to gain much progress in these very unconventional times.
Last November, millions of Americans voted in favor of having a stronger check on power by ushering in a new Democratic majority in the House. They voted to give Democrats the power of the congressional gavel, the power to issue subpoenas, the power to conduct vigorous oversight. That mandate is being ignored by the president and his henchmen. It is up to Democrats to protect and defend the will of the people and they must do so boldly. There is no place for traditional tactics or negotiations. We are in the midst of a national crisis — a real one, not the manufactured one at the southern border. Who will stand up for the Republic?

So this is where donnie dimwit got the notion that two years were stolen of his presidency.. Jerry Faiwell. ”After the best week ever for @realdonaldtrump - no obstruction, no collusion, NYT admits @barackobama did spy on his campaign, & the economy is soaring. I now support reparations-Trump should have 2 yrs added to his 1st term as pay back for time stolen by this corrupt failed coup” By that analogy, President Obama should get another 8 years because of “Mitch McConnell claiming he would see nothing got done while President Obama was in office. Even managed to steal a Supreme Court Justice pick from President Obama”. I’m not even sure what was “stollen” from his presidency as he claims. I mean, he goes to Florida every weekend to golf, goes on rallies, watches Fox & Friends in the morning, is on Twitter all day long, then Fox again at night. Basically, he’s a retired old man the taxpayers are subsidizing. If anyone is entitled to a payback, I would think it’s the taxpayers. And seriously, is he beginning to set the stage for not leaving if he loses the 2020 election? Is this because Nancy Pelosi said the Dems have to win by a wide margin or Trump will contest a close election? Does he even know the US is not Extended Stay America? Bill Maher used to say, “He’s not gonna leave, folks, you know that, right?” I used to just laugh. I’m not so sure anymore that it’s a joke.

You really understand how much of a racist or white nationalist whatever you want to call it when you read this crap from trump..
”Puerto Rico has been given more money by Congress for Hurricane Disaster Relief, 91 Billion Dollars, than any State in the history of the U.S. As an example, Florida got $12 Billion & Texas $39 Billion for their monster hurricanes. Now the Democrats are saying NO Relief to......
“Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and others unless much more money is given to Puerto Rico. The Dems don’t want farmers to get any help. Puerto Rico should be very happy and the Dems should stop blocking much needed Disaster Relief!”

linkCREW - Citizens for Ethics.. “President Trump’s hand-picked IRS chief Charles Rettig earns as much as $1 million in rental income from Trump-branded properties while facing demands to release Trump’s tax returns. Rettig says he'll decide whether or not to release the tax returns.” From the article.. ”President Trump’s hand-picked IRS Commissioner, Charles Rettig, earns as much as $1 million in rental income from the Trump-branded properties he co-owns while facing demands from Congress to release Trump’s tax returns. The IRS has already missed more than one deadline set by the House Ways and Means Committee to turn over Trump’s tax returns. (Rettig has stated that he will decide whether or not to release the tax returns, under the supervision of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.) When Trump nominated Rettig to lead the IRS in February 2018, Rettig initially failed to disclose that the Hawaii real estate he owned was at a Trump-branded property. He bought a 50 percent interest in two units at Trump International Waikiki in 2006 ahead of the building’s completion in 2009. It is likely that Trump profited off of his future-IRS commissioner’s purchase; although the Trump Organization does not own the Waikiki property, its branding deal gave it a 10 percent share of total pre-sales” He will decide? What? Decide if will break the law or not?
