My DS is graduating from an electrical lineman program that pays for your degree and then places you in the area of the state where there is a need for lineman. He will be living in Altoona. Wasn’t there a story about Altoona police on the old board? I was trying to recall the details and drew a blank.
We spent the day checking out rentals. He starts his job on May 13th so he had to find a place quickly. Luckily the second place we saw was an open plan apt. over a huge garage on a beautiful horse farm. He and his girlfriend can ride whenever they want. There is a ton of acreage for hunting and fishing. On one side of the farm is a beautiful Amish farm and on the other side is a country club to which DS will have access.
Every time we passed a police cruiser today I thought of the Peas. And if anyone can remember the story I’d love to hear it!

I was here during the blow-up, but I forget it. I'm thinking someone on the board had an issue with someone she worked with (she reported her for something or other) and the kooky pea was going to call the Altoona police on her. I've forgotten the details.

Funny how we were all around back then on the old board, but we can't quite recall the details about Altoona!! I do remember that on Larry King's show, it always seemed that people from Altoona would be calling in. He'd say (in his gruff voice), "Altoona, come in........." It became a joke on many threads..........

Haha we used to drive through Altoona when we would drive from MI to VA. The first time we did it after reading that thread I about peed my pants from laughing so hard. My husband thought I was insane and I had to explain it to him. 😂

If I am not mixing pea lore up, a pea took her kid to work, co-worker swatted/smacked said child. Altoona police were alerted...
Or it was when someone was going to sew us

The interwebs never disappoint: There was this crazy woman who used to buy torn bear paper piecings from EBAY. She would drive up the price like crazy. She would pay $200+ for these bears. The peas noticed it was the same woman buying them and a thread got started. As usual the woman showed up on the thread and the pile on began. She threatened to sew everyone and to file harassment charges with the Altoona police. It was classic two peas drama. Sassafrass! That's it! I somehow missed the original Altoona drama. I remember the aftermath, so to speak, but missed how it started. |

Apropos of nothing, my family drove through Altoona twice yesterday and the first time, saw a terrible car accident with many Altoona police officers and first responders on site. The interwebz are a weird, weird place.  |

There was also definitely something about a scrapobook store in Altoona and murders in Ocean City, MD. I think this story was unrelated to the Altoona police post though.

And Sassafrass didn't have her co-worker smack her child, but she did brag about smacking her (adopted) children- which caused a big stir as I remember. And yeah, she had her husband come on and say she had committed suicide. Some crazy times!
