You could buy my village of 500 people for that kind of money! A new house on a acerage would be $750,000 tops and it would have to be a pretty good set up. For $3.75 mil you could get a house, outbuildings and 7 - 10 quarters of land (1120 - 1200 acres).

This 5 bedroom house with tennis court and pool. For $1M more a beachfront apartment here. Outside of Auckland, your money goes a lot further. Just north of the city, you can get a 6ha lifestyle property for that price. And here's what's described as a ' private ocean estate' including 9275m2 of land for a cool $3.9M, just outside Whangarei. I think I could handle living at that private ocean estate.

Not a lot available at that price point, although there is one for $3.25 million that has a shoe and handbag store in it. At least, I think that is what photo 17 is? La Costa houseI'd prefer something like this $3.3 million La Jolla house with almost no land. La Jollabut the closest to what I really want is $18.9 million and I'd still need to redo the kitchen {sigh}. La Jolla waterfront

This is the most expensive in my town.... less than $3Million. The lake is 5 minutes from my house. My son lives in Valley Springs, not in that house, though.

The only thing I didn't like was the room full of carcasses. HouseIt's too McMansion for me. I'm partial to old (as in pre-1960 at least).

Probably not as much as you'd think. I live in southern california And there are things I love about this house, but who needs 10,000 square feet?!?! It seems like it would feel like living in a mausoleum even though some of the rooms were very warm and inviting. But that pool....and that property.....I guess I could live with a giant house if I had to. And if I had someone to help me clean it. I do love the pool and the property. I like that it is built for entertaining. The kitchen was a major disappointment.

In NYC it can buy a small townhouse, depending on where you look. Or a nice apartment.

For that price, I'd built my own, exactly how I'd want it. We don't have homes that expensive in the rural area where I live, but in Minneapolis, that price would buy something very nice. Off to check the link.

This is what you'd get around here in the UK The house in the OP is grand but too opulent and austere to be my comfortable home. I'll take it!

The location is amazing. I love the kitchen and the wine cellar. I would love this as an elegant bed and breakfast.

Love the views and the windows. That is a lot of acres for the price! Yeah, it's out in the country... and not in the wine growing part of our area. The same acreage a few miles further south, where tons of wine grapes are grown, would be FAR more expensive. Same if the land were closer to Portland (this is still the greater metro area, but about 45 minutes from downtown). Or, if you want to be close-in, the same price gets a very big, very formal house on 1/3 acre lakefront house in Lake Oswego. It's just the house I liked best in the metro area that's on the market in that price range.

You'd have to head west a bit to find prices that high and because it's on the lake in Lake Geneva were shoreline is expensive. Here's one in the price range. Lakeside in Lake Genevaor course there is old mansions from way back and the prices can go higher there, quick search of most expensive on lake finds... a mere $13,900,000 for 13 bedroom 16 bath cozy cottage
^^^that one is a newer mansion I love how light the first one is. The other one is wow! 16 baths!!! Would be a fantastic bed and breakfast!

I can't believe you can get that much for the price. I am in love with the kitchen and can I keep the cars in the garage as well?

The most expensive house in my town ( actually about 15 minutes outside of the village) is 299k for a 3bd2ba on 15 acres.
