UPDATE! First, a HUGE thank you to JoBlackford who sent me the Neenah #80 and #110 to try, loved both but really really liked the #80. Bit the bullet and picked up some of that. Between the ream of Neenah, the ream of Park Lane #110 and the M's paper, I am so set on white cardstock that I would have to make about 1000 cards to need more. Thank you all for listening to me waffle about white cardstock! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I am just getting into stamping and cardmaking after being a 20+ year scrapper. LOVING alcohol markers and making cute cards...the only issue I am having is the white paper to use for stamping. I am using Tuxedo Black Momento ink. I bought the Michaels 65lb paper, the ink just "sits" on top of that and it takes at least 20 min or more for an image to dry. Bought some other paper at M's-the ink feathers out and my images are not crisp. I looked at the Georgia Pacific at Walmart, and the reviews were not good, apparently it sucks up alcohol marker ink like no tomorrow, according to reviews. I really just want a general white paper, not too expensive that gives a good crisp image and you can color on it. Also, I would like to be able to purchase it at a store and not order it online. Thanks!!

For general stamping and also for colouring with copies I use Neenah solar white either 80 or 110lb.

For a budget option, Neenah Solar White. It's important that it's the Classic Crest 80# or 110#. Some Neenah Solar White is not suitable. If you want to spend a little more, I love the Copic Xpress-it paper. Gina K Pure Luxury is also good for copics.
Around me none of these options are available in stores but the neenah might be available in bigger cities with more options.

My go to paper for both alcohol markers and colored pencils with odorless mineral spirits is Paper Trey Basic White. I have used it for years and love it. It works great as a card base too. It is 110 lb and is $6.00 for 40 sheets. Markers will bleed through, but that is to be expected, so I use a separate sheet for coloring the image and attach it to the card base rather than try to make a one layer card. Here's a link: www.papertreyink.com/paper/paper-basics-stampers-select-white-cardstock-40-sheets/

Welcome to card-making and alcohol markers. Not all paper is created equal. Especially for using Copics/alcohol markers. When I'm Copic coloring I only use Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80#. It's around $40+ for a ream of 250 sheets at Amazon. The product number is 04701. It's THIS one. Even though the picture has a different number if you scroll down the description for the listing is correct.

I believe you can only get PTI paper from PTI.

I wonder if you can find Neenah or a similar cardstock at an office supply store in your area? The only problem with buying something unknown there would be if they only sell it in reams. I learned the hard way... I bought the wrong Neenah (there are other weights - index weight, cover weight, etc) and I got one that was ridiculously thin (I was buying with the intention of using it for card bases). Neenah Classic Crest is usually sold by the ream although I think some resellers have smaller quantity packages.
I always end up buying Neenah through Amazon or online-Joann's (if you don't mind their slooooow FedEx shipping and you can get a 40% off sale price).
If you want to try a few sheets before you buy I could send you a few card panels of the 80 and 110 pound weights.

Thanks!! I have used the GP110 for copic coloring, and it's an adequate budget option. But I like the copic xpress it cardstock a lot more. You can buy a 10 pack at Ellen Hutson for about $5 (not including shipping). There's also a "mini marker pack" (from copic) you can buy (I know for sure Simon has it); it isn't as cost-effective but I like having the precut A2 sizes.

I will be the odd Pea. I don't use the popular stamping cardstocks. Noting against them. I am sure they are great. I don't want to come off like I am shaming paper, lol. I use Manga paper for my Copic Coloring. Peek down your art paper pad aisle at your store. If you are ordering online start with searches like Canson Fanboy and you cater to what you are looking for through Amazon. I use a variety. Normal stamping I like Canson brands. I use Fanboy and I use Marker. Also check out Epson Presentation Paper for laser printers. It is amazing for Copic coloring. Another plus it is an excellent paper for those who are printing out digital stamps and wanting to color. You get the best of both. The proper paper for printing and can take Copics or other alcohol markers.

Thanks all! I wish there was a way to try a few sheets of each without buying a ream.

Thanks all! I wish there was a way to try a few sheets of each without buying a ream. At online stores like Simon, Ellen Hutson, Scrapbook.com, etc., you can purchase a pack of 25 sheets of Neenah 80# for around $10. PM me your address and I will send you a few samples of the different papers I have/use.

I was just watching a video using copics for coloring stamping and she said she uses the Recollections cardstock from Michaels as an alternative to Neenah. I'm not sure if it's the same stuff you bought or something different - it kind of sounds like yours had some kind of coating on it (?). Anyway, you might be able to message Jess through YT if you want to ask which exact one she uses. I've talked to her online before and she's nice this video starting at the bit where she mentions the cardstock

If you send me your address, I will be happy to cut a sheet of Paper Trey into quarters (so it will fit into an A2 envelope) and send it to you to try out. So far, you can only order it on line from Paper Trey. I love their other paper too, so I order about once a year and get enough to qualify for free shipping.

Well, Office Max did not have the Neenah paper (when I responded last I was using my phone and spell check would not stop the corrections!) So I bought Park Lane paper #110 from Jo Anns. I could not really find any reviews on it, one thread where someone said it was good. It is REALLY heavy. Maybe that is compared to what I am used to, the M's paper, #65 I think.
It seems to do great for stamping and image coloring (I am VERY new to markers, so don't truly even know what I am looking for) but I don't know about the layering...I know it would make a great sturdy card base, but then to layer up stamped images on it might make it very thick. I am not sure...but I got the 100 sheet pack for 50% off, which made it 7.99, so I am going to use it up. Thank you all so much! This is all so funny because like I said, I really don't know what I want, I am just finding out as I go what I DON'T want, which is hard when you are stuck with reams of paper that you don't like! lol....
PS. If anyone wants to try the Paper Lane stuff, I will pop a sheet in the mail for you.

I ran out of my Neenah 80lb, and for my birthday a few months ago, I asked my husband to get me some. He was incredulous when he saw the price, lol. So we went on The Paper Mill website, and he found Mohawk 110lb. cardstock. I was highly skeptical, and insisted we order a sample first (it was $3.00, which isn’t as good as a free sample, but it’s fine). It. Is. AMAZING. It’s just as smooth as Neenah, and has a weight in between the Neenah 80 lb and 110 lb. so it can be used as a card base and a card front. It works wonderfully with my copics, and ink blends just as well as Neenah. The best part for me is that it’s only $30.97 for a ream of 250! Now, the downside is that you do have to pay for shipping, which bumps up the price (it’s heavy, obviously). I’ve really been enjoying using it, though!

It looks like this is the same product on Amazon - link (The Paper Mill is listed as an alternate seller). More expensive but with free shipping. I'm wondering if the shipping cost you paid was more than the difference (about $10?). Thought I'd drop this link here anyway since some people might prefer to buy through Amazon (especially if you have one of their rewards credit cards). I was looking at the Paper Mill and noticed that they can cut the ream into half sheets (for about $15 more). I would consider that. I tried getting my last ream cut at Staples and they did a really crappy job and it wasn't cheap or convenient. I also noticed that they ship from Neenah, WI! I always wondered why the paper was called Neenah, but I guess it's named for a place.

I had a ream of Neenah 110 cut in half at FedEx/Kinko’s, and they did a fantastic job for only $5! It only took a couple of minutes, too. I would have been so sad if my cardstock was ruined!!
