Trump still bitching about the Mayor of London:
How is this appropriate for the US president? How does he think this helps anything?
And let's not even get into the whole glass house not throwing stones thing. I'll bet way more than 3 people died in the USA from gunshot wounds on the same day. He needs to fix his own problems in his own country first and STFU about what is happening in London unless it's to condemn the actions of the perpetrators or to express condolences to the families of the deceased (which we all know won't happen) Plus Trump calling just about anyone else a "national disgrace" is beyond ridiculous.

A threat to the American People... ”The Trump Economy is setting records, and has a long way up to go.... However, if anyone but me takes over in 2020 (I know the competition very well), there will be a Market Crash the likes of which has not been seen before! KEEP AMERICA GREAT” Threats and/or invented crisis.... Normal for him! the market is going to do what it’s going to do. An incoming president will not have the time to undo the stuff Trump as done that affects the market. Much the same as Trump’s actions could not screw up market immediately when he took over. But his fuck up of tax deductions for corporations will have lasting affects on the market and he will need a lot more lying to make his second term all roses & sunshine should he win. Whom ever is in charge in 2020 ( actually 2021) will have A LOT of work to do and do it FAST to avoid a depression. Same eventual effects of last trickle down policy. If Trump is a 2 Term President I expect another Great Depression to follow. Or Gilead which ever

Regardless of the size of these rallies, I wonder if dimwit donnie understands how bad it is for a sitting president when people across the country take to the streets demanding he be impeached? That the number of those protesting could really grow?
”Yesterday was the Radical Left Democrats big Impeachment day. They worked so hard to make it something really big and special but had one problem - almost nobody showed up. “The Media admits low turnout for anti-Trump rallies.” @foxnews “All around the Country people are.......”
”saying enough. Democrat voters want to hear the politicians talking about issues. This is a huge distraction and will only help Donald Trump get elected.” @jedediahbila “Greatest President since Ronald Reagan” said a counter-protester. LehighValleyLive”

One observation.
When people or agencies disagree with trump they are “the enemy of the state” or they are “committing treason”.
When trump thinks they agree with him they are “patriots”.
trump throwing words like this around is not how one makes America great again, but how one tear it down.

Her endorsement, at this time, might actually throw people off. Later when it’s whittled down a bit it won’t matter anyway., but right now I’m thinking no one wants her endorsement while they need to pull in as many people as they can. Does anyone care that Kamala Harris is growing in me? No? Really?

What the heck does "Earned Media" mean? It's usually referred to as " free advertising" kind of publicity. You haven't paid for this media to be created the way you would for, say, an advertisement, therefore, your actions alone "earned" you this attention. A typical example of earned media would be if someone posted on line about a really good restaurant they visited and in return the restaurant would benefit from the extra bookings from the popularity of that post, be it on Facebook/blogs/message boards. The restaurant didn't pay to receive the benefit of that publicity. Trump is calling it that because he didn't pay for that programme to be made and they're only doing it because of his "success" Doesn't matter that they would normally do it for any president at any time. I think the way DT means it is that if a network is nice to HIM, then that network will “earn” an interview with him.

”In the last week, the president said he’d again accept foreign election help and mused about remaining in office beyond constitutional limits. The presidency is enormously powerful, especially in the hands of someone willing to abuse it. Don’t assume that it can’t happen here.”
Especially when he has help from one of the political parties.

While I’m not a fan of taxing the hell out of big corporations and the rich, this is just plain ridiculous and the Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to the country.
Politico..
“Big businesses paying even less than expected under GOP tax law”
“Federal tax payments by big businesses are falling much faster than anticipated in the wake of Republicans’ tax cuts, providing ammunition to Democrats who are calling for corporate tax increases.
The U.S. Treasury saw a 31 percent drop in corporate tax revenues last year, almost twice the decline official budget forecasters had predicted. Receipts were projected to rebound sharply this year, but so far they’ve only continued to fall, down by almost 9 percent or $11 billion.
Though business profits remain healthy and the economy is strong, total corporate taxes are at the lowest levels seen in more than 50 years.
At the same time, overall taxes paid by individuals under the new tax law are up so far this year by 3 percent, thanks to higher wages and salaries, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Last year tax payments by individuals went up 4 percent.
The drop comes even as some Republicans, such as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, have claimed, dubiously, that the law will pay for itself.
The revenue decline may fan complaints the law gave too much to big business and provide new fodder for Democrats now trying to roll back the cuts. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democratic presidential candidate, is calling for a dramatic increase in corporate taxes while House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.) has proposed hiking the corporate rate by a percentage point to help pay for expanded breaks for low- and middle-income people.
Analysts agree they can’t yet explain the decline in corporate tax payments. Simple they have found another loophole.
They have a host of theories though, such as businesses making wider-than-expected use of the law’s expanded breaks for business investments. It may also be an unexpected side effect of President Donald Trump’s trade wars.
“I don’t think any of us can point to something specific and say this is definitely what’s going on,” said Kyle Pomerleau, chief economist at the Tax Foundation.
Analysts expected corporate payments to fall in the wake of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which slashed the corporate tax rate by 14 percentage points, to 21 percent, and expanded breaks for buying machinery and equipment.
In April 2018, less than four months after the cuts were signed into law, the nonpartisan CBO predicted corporate receipts would drop that year to $243 billion, which would have been an 18 percent decline from 2017. But payments ended up coming in at $205 billion, a nearly one-third decline from the previous year.
Then, in January, CBO projected receipts would bounce back this year, increasing by 20 percent or $40 billion. But through last month, they’re down 8.7 percent.
CBO says it isn’t sure what's happening.
“Weakness in corporate tax collections” goes “beyond that which can be explained by currently available data on business activity,” the agency says.
One reason, CBO says, could be that companies shifted deductible expenses — like funding for their workers’ pensions — into 2017, when the corporate rate was still 35 percent, because that made those deductions worth more. That would still show up in the government’s data for the 2018 fiscal year, which began in October 2017. The agency doesn’t know the extent to which that might be happening.
Other analysts see other possibilities.
Companies may be making greater use of so-called expensing, an incentive that allows them to immediately write off the cost of investments rather than having to stagger them over a number of years. Having more stuff to deduct means smaller tax bills. If that’s the case, it could mean receipts will rebound in coming years because companies will not have those write-offs available to them in the future.
Another potential explanation: Trump’s tariffs, which could hurt corporate tax revenues in two ways. If a U.S. company that relies on components made in China suddenly sees the cost of those items increase, it will have more to deduct as business expenses. Alternatively, if a company is seeing fewer sales because it is passing along the cost of the tariffs to its customers, it will have fewer profits to tax.
“You either reduce business receipts or increase deductible costs, and either of those things reduce corporate taxable income,” said Pomerleau. “It may mean corporate tax liability is lower than we expected not because our projections of the TCJA were wrong, but maybe because we didn’t account for the fact that tariffs were going to lower corporate receipts.”
A fourth possible factor: The law isn’t reducing profit shifting by multinational corporations as much as forecasters expected. By cutting the corporate rate, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was supposed to reduce the incentive for companies operating in multiple countries to stockpile profits abroad, out of the reach of the IRS.
Overall corporate revenues last year amounted to 1 percent of GDP, a level they’ve dipped to only twice since 1965. Both of those previous instances, in 2009 and 1983, came in the wake of recessions, when business profits had cratered.”

It amazes me, sometimes, what motivates a person to vote for a particular candidate.
From The Washington Post...
“Trump or a Democrat? Eastern Iowa ponders its presidential choice.”
“ MUSCATINE, Iowa — Eastern Iowa is home to industrial riverfront cities, small towns surrounded by verdant farmland and a consequential number of voters who were inspired to vote for both Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
And unlike many of the president’s Republican supporters, who could never imagine voting for a Democrat, many of these Obama-Trump voters are open to doing just that — meaning that Iowa counties along or near the Mississippi River, and similar ones throughout the Midwest, could once again be key to determining the next president.
“I voted for Trump — still not sure if it was the right decision,” said Tammy Faulkner, a 48-year-old convenience store clerk who lives in Louisa County in southeast Iowa and voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. He seemed like a down-to-earth guy who would order a cheeseburger and fries, even if given fancier options, she said: “I have no qualms about voting either side, as long as they’re willing to do what it takes to get our country back to where we need it.” My guess is if you ask her “where it needs to be” she couldn’t give you specifics.
Faulkner hasn’t been happy with some of the things Trump has done — namely, his comments about immigrants that she said “come across as racist” and the tariff war he started that could hurt the farmers who stop by her store for coffee — and she’s open to voting for a Democrat in 2020. But she has no idea whom that might be or even which of the 23 candidates might best align with what she’s looking for.
“In all honesty here,” she said, “lately I haven’t been paying a lot of attention.”
Nationwide, estimates show that between 5 and 15 percent of voters who picked Trump in 2016 had voted for Obama in 2012, or as many as 9.2 million voters. These Obama-Trump voters are one of the only voting groups to have had a significant change in their view of President Trump: In 2016, 85 percent of them held a “favorable” view of the president — a rate that fell to 66 percent this year, according to surveys conducted by the Democracy Fund Voter Study Group, a group of analysts and scholars from across the political spectrum who examine the evolving views of voters. The reality is there is no difference in trump before and after the election. He is the same obnoxious petty little man. They chose not to see it
Winning the Iowa caucuses in 2008 put Obama on the pathway to the Democratic nomination — and winning the state in the general election was instrumental to him getting to the White House. But since Obama’s two victories here, Iowa politics have yo-yoed: In 2016, nearly a third of Iowa’s 99 counties flipped from having voted twice for Obama to voting for Trump, leading to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s defeat in the state. Democrats gained back some ground in Iowa in the 2018 midterm elections, winning three of the state’s four congressional seats, although the state elected a Republican governor.
More than half of Iowa’s 31 Obama-Trump counties continued to vote for Republicans in major races in 2018 while five counties reverted to voting for Democrats. Eight counties voted for Democrats for Congress and a Republican for governor.
As Trump headed to western Iowa on Tuesday for an event at a renewable energy facility and later to a private Republican fundraising event in West Des Moines, some of those hoping to replace him were trying to make their case to the east along the Mississippi River.
Following a state party dinner in Cedar Rapids, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) held a Sunday afternoon rally in Dubuque County, which swung from voting for Obama twice to voting for Trump in 2016, then swung back to voting for Democrats for Congress and governor in 2018. The next day, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts toured an ethanol plant in the next county over, and Sen. Kamala D. Harris of California met with voters in Dubuque and promised to improve the economy for all Americans, not just, as she put it, those with money in the stock market.
Meanwhile, former congressman Beto O’Rourke of Texas — who kicked off his candidacy in March with a tour of Obama-Trump counties along the Mississippi River — held a town hall in Clinton County, which Obama won with 60 percent of the vote in 2012 and Trump won with 48 percent of the vote in 2016, a year when voter turnout declined. In 2018, voters picked Democrats for the top two races on the ballot.
Former vice president Joe Biden held four events in the eastern part of the state, starting Tuesday in a county where Obama twice won with about 55 percent of the vote each time and Trump won with 57 percent. Biden has mostly brushed aside opportunities to appear with fellow candidates for the Democratic nomination, instead aiming to present himself as Trump’s direct challenger and the sort of candidate who could win back those voters who are no longer sure which political party best represents them.
Biden repeatedly attacked Trump’s policies and actions that he said have hurt American workers, including starting a tariff war with China, trying to undo the Affordable Care Act and not making education a priority.
Some in the party argue that trying to connect with Trump voters is a waste of time, as doing so could weaken their efforts to inspire, motivate and mobilize dedicated liberal voters — who are also more likely to vote in the Democratic primaries. But Democratic leaders in eastern Iowa caution that candidates should not forget the general election as they search for votes in the caucuses and primaries.
Kelcey Brackett, the Muscatine County Democratic Party chairman, noted that his county, like much of Iowa, has a high number of independent voters who refuse to align with a party, consider many politicians to be corrupt and would prefer an elected leader who is blunt and honest rather than politically correct. Obama won Muscatine County in 2012 with 57 percent of the vote, and Trump won in 2016 with 49 percent. Turnout was similar both years. In November, voters here picked the incumbent Democratic congressman, David Loebsack, and the Republican governor, Kim Reynolds.
Many of the Obama-Trump voters whom Brackett knows have told him they picked Obama and Trump — two presidents who could not be more different — because they hoped each represented transformational change. Again if you specifically ask what changes they were looking for they couldn't tell you. And another reason why The Democrats can not just throw something like the Green New Deal “out there” without details and hope it sticks.
“I think at least a good portion of them realize they need to consider another candidate” other than Trump in 2020, he said. “But I think that if we just have a mainstream Democrat, we’re going to miss some of those voters. We need someone at least interesting, someone who doesn’t fade into the crowd.” We have two choices and only two choices. Four more destructive years of trump or a Democratic Candidate. And if that candidate is perceived to be mainstream or uninteresting, it shouldn’t matter.
Randy Naber, a retired elementary school teacher in Muscatine who sits on the school board, said that during the 2018 midterms “it was almost like pulling teeth” to get the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Fred Hubbell, to visit the county — so he wasn’t surprised when Hubbell lost there. He said the best thing that presidential candidates can do is visit and talk with voters, and the local Democratic Party has set up a “welcoming committee” of sorts that will help any candidate organize an event and recruit a crowd. Nine candidates have visited the county so far this year, including Sanders, O’Rourke and Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York.
Naber has narrowed his list to four candidates he thinks can do well in places like Muscatine: Biden, Warren, Harris and Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind. He adds one more candidate he’s keeping an eye on: Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
An in-person visit is one way for candidates to try to break through Trump-dominated news cycles and insert themselves — or even just their names — into the social media feeds of Iowans.
Sitting at a Starbucks in Muscatine where his fiancee works, Eric Kortemeyer tried on Friday morning to name as many of the 23 Democrats running for office as he could but could only come up with two: Biden, whom he wants to get to know outside of “Obama’s shadow,” and Warren, whom he doesn’t know if he can trust, as he believes that she lied about having Native American heritage. I’m not a fan of Warren for a lot of reason but not trusting her because of what she said about her heritage is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard, especially when you compare it to trump and what he has said.
With some prompting, the 40-year-old food delivery worker added Sanders, who he said has some good ideas but is generally too extreme to get elected, and O’Rourke, although Kortemeyer wondered how much longer the Texan’s campaign will last. He has also heard about Andrew Yang on Facebook and likes the entrepreneur’s call for a universal basic wage.
Kortemeyer considers himself a Democrat and voted for Obama twice. Ahead of the 2016 election, he planned to vote for Clinton and was excited by the idea of having a female president. But then, he said, he started learning more about the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi and other criticisms of Clinton from people he met on Facebook who claimed to know the former secretary of state. If Benghazi was an issue for him in not voting for Hillary, then it’s clear he didn’t look at the facts but instead listened to the Republican spin machine.
Meanwhile, he liked the idea of electing a businessman, although he was alarmed by some of the things Trump said during his campaign. Kortemeyer says he remembers thinking: “Oh, what the hell, let’s give this guy a chance.” Well we can all see how well that is working out.
But Kortemeyer isn’t sure whether he will vote for Trump again. He disapproves of the president’s treatment of migrants at the border and what he sees as a reckless approach to foreign policy, and he thinks a border wall would be a waste of money. But he likes that the economy seems to be booming under Trump’s leadership. If you asked this guy specifically name something that trump has done for this “booming” economy, my guess is that he couldn’t. If anything trump’s actions could cause the economy not to be so booming.
He also likes that many Democrats want to make health care cheaper and easier to access, along with increasing the minimum wage — but he said he is starting to believe some of the things Trump says about Democrats not caring about working-class guys like him.
“Honestly, I don’t know what the hell I am anymore. I used to be a Democrat,” Kortemeyer said. “Do I want him to have a second term? I don’t know . . . I would vote for a Democrat, but they’re really going to have to convince me.” And that is the problem. They either don’t see or chose not to see how destructive trump is for this country.
Emily Guskin contributed to this report.

”When will the Fake News Media start asking Democrats if they are OK with the hiring of Christopher Steele, a foreign agent, paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, to dig up “dirt” and write a phony Dossier against the Presidential Candidate of the opposing party.........”
“......If Republicans ever did that to the Democrats, there would be all hell to pay. It would be a scandal like no other!”
Christopher Steel runs a private security firm. There is a big, even huge, difference for a private citizen obtaining information from a foreign government and a private intelligence firm.
I imagine the trump organization has used private intelligence firms in the past.

This is what drives me nuts in run ups to a general election. Especially for president.
I understand the burden of student debt. But is this really the answer? These individuals made the decision to take on this debt. I mean if the government can wipe out this debt how about wiping it out for other things as well. Like a mortgage? Better yet, let the government give every individual the 20% down payment that is required to buy a house these days. This way these folks won’t have to wait years , in some cases , decades while they save up the 20%.
And you know this isn’t going anywhere. It might be more beneficial to find something, you know, that will actually have a chance of helping these kids.

Newsweek..
“ELIZABETH WARREN, JAMES CLYBURN TO RELEASE LEGISLATION CANCELLING $50,000 IN STUDENT LOAN DEBT PER BORROWER”
“Senator Elizabeth Warren and House Majority Whip James Clyburn announced they would be introducing legislation to wipe out up to $50,000 in student loan debt each for 42 million Americans.
The bill, if passed, would cancel some debt for 95 percent of borrowers and completely eliminate debt for 75 percent of borrowers, according to a Thursday press release.
The release emphasized the ability of the legislation, which will be introduced in both Congressional chambers in coming weeks, to alleviate loan debt taken on by individuals of color.
The student debt crisis is real and it's crushing millions of people — especially people of color," Warren said in the statement announcing the legislation. "It's time to decide: Are we going to be a country that only helps the rich and powerful get richer and more powerful, or are we going to be a country that invests in its future?"
For far too many students and families, the cost of higher education has meant daunting debt and a lifetime of student loan repayments," Clyburn said in the statement. "We need to allow people to get the kind of post-secondary education that will help them achieve their dreams and aspirations, and earn a living to become productive members of society."
A 2016 Brookings report found that black college graudates frequently accumulate signficantly more debt than their white counterparts. The research found that black graduates owe $7,400 more by the time they finish their undergraduate degrees.
Student loan debt has grown 157 percent in the last 11 years, and in April, Warren announced a sweeping platform intended to make college more affordable. The proposal included the cancellation of $1.25 trillion in student debt, offering free college education to all Americans and creating a $50 billion fund for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
While noting the steady increase of student loans and nation's accumulation of debt, critics have questioned why Warren is directing money to address student loans, rather than other social issues. Speaking to Newsweek in April, Beth Akers, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, noted that "a huge portion of the returns to postsecondary education are private, meaning they are enjoyed by only the person who earned the degree."
Student loan burden has been blamed by some for delaying younger Americans' timeline for making long-term large investments — like purchasing a home or saving for their childrens' education and their own retirement.
In 2013, Rohit Chopra—now a commissioner with the Federal Trade Commission, but then the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Student Loan Ombudsman—likened the burden of student debt to a "backpack" on college graduates' shoulders, preventing them from keeping pace with the economic success of previous generations for whom an education was significantly less expensive.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been outspoken on the issue of student loan debt and college tuition reform.
We have an entire generation that is delaying or forgoing purchasing houses," Ocasio-Cortez told Time in a March interview. "Our entire economy is slowing down due to the student loan crisis.... An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity."
The congresswoman recently applauded billionaire Robert F. Smith for pledging to pay around $40 million to pay off the student loan debt of Morehouse College's 2019 graduating class, but also noted that "people shouldn't be in a situation where they depend on a stranger's enormous act of charity for this kind of liberation to begin with."
Funny thing is, there was this podcast that talked about how all of Warren’s plans to pay for all these things she is promising won’t generate enough revenue to do it.
ETA..”In some American cities, it would take someone with the median income more than 40 years to save up a standard down payment for a house, writes The Atlantic.
Giving people the 20% down payment would actually help more people. Buying a home is the first step toward acquiring wealth. And think of all the people that would put to work building and decorating the new homes. As an added plus, they all should be solar powered.

I do believe something needs to be done to help those who have this debt, but not this. Buying a home is the first step toward acquiring wealth. And think of all the people that would put to work building and decorating the new homes. As an added plus, they all should be solar powered. I agree this is not the answer. What about those students who were fiscally responsible and went to school part time instead of racking up debt? Or chose community college for two years and lived at home instead of going straight to the more expensive option of a four-year college with room and board. Are we going to “reward” them for their sacrifices as we wipe out irresponsible debt? Even now, as we hear about how burdensome college debt is, I know of students who are taking out the maximum every year to pay for our-of-state tuition for a bachelors degree instead of looking for more affordable options because it’s their “dream.” Are we going to bail them out when they finally realize this wasn’t the best course of action? I agree there are things we could do to ease the burden. We could start by lowering interest rates on these loans. They are low-risk loans but can carry a fairly high interest rate? Why? These loans never go away, so the lender still has a pretty good chance of repayment even if the loans go into default at some point. Another option is to allow accelerated payments in return for military service. Basically, let them apply their GI benefits they are currently earning toward college debt already incurred. Make it contingent on payments being made while serving—maybe give credit for double the amount of principle every month a payment is made in time. You could also subsidize the interest for grads who work in depressed areas doing work related to health, education, and such. So basically, no interest would accrue during any month in which. Payment is made on time, allowing them to pay down the principle much faster. Maybe this applies to teachers who work in certain title 1 schools. Or doctors/nurses who work in hospitals located in neighborhoods with a certain percentage of households below the poverty line. Or social workers who work in similar environments.

Maybe Mike Huckabee should be mad at his daughter for being a habitual liar, rather than the person who honestly stated the fact that she is a habitual liar.

Kyle Griffin...
”Jon Stewart on the 9/11 Fund: "I want to make it clear that this has never been dealt with compassionately by Sen. McConnell. He has always held out until the very last minute, and only then, under ... public shaming, has he even deigned to move on it."
Like I said, there will be a special place in hell for Mitch McConnell.

I don’t have a problem with making community colleges free, if they include trade schools. I think that is a great idea. If you want to continue on with college after 2 years, you’re on your own.
Having said that, interest rates on student loans should only be enough to cover the expenses associated with the processing of the loan during its lifetime.
When all of us make the decision to take on debt it’s with the understanding it will be paid back. You can’t just come in and eliminate the debt of a group of people and leave everyone else struggling with theirs. I don’t care how righteous one may think it is, it’s wrong.
