Chris Lu summed it up nicely.

Newsweek again... ”Mike Huckabee slams CNN's David Axelrod for calling daughter Sarah Sanders a "habitual liar" Well the reality is, not many people who worked for trump at The White House will not be able to walk away without that label attached to the. And for good reason. THEY ALL LIE!
Maybe Mike Huckabee should be mad at his daughter for being a habitual liar, rather than the person who honestly stated the fact that she is a habitual liar. Daddy, Daddy, they are picking on me!! Oh well!! Let us not forget she stated under oath to Mueller that she lied/made up the story about Comey and the FBI emails!

I don’t have a problem with making community colleges free, if they include trade schools. I think that is a great idea. If you want to continue on with college after 2 years, you’re on your own. Having said that, interest rates on student loans should only be enough to cover the expenses associated with the processing of the loan during its lifetime. When all of us make the decision to take on debt it’s with the understanding it will be paid back. You can’t just come in and eliminate the debt of a group of people and leave everyone else struggling with theirs. I don’t care how righteous one may think it is, it’s wrong. I've been thinking about this issue for several days now. Here's my take for the moment: We as a society do all kinds of things that seem unfair because it promotes the general welfare: corporate and farm subsidies, for example. In a totally capitalist society, companies or industries that can't make it financially should just go under. But we recognize that we need access to affordable food and energy, and that if certain companies go under, it would have a hugely negative impact on lots of working Americans. So we provide subsidies to make sure our economy can keep humming along. The problem of student loan debt is affecting us as a society in a negative way. Skilled graduates with jobs are not able to afford housing. They're not able to save for retirement. They can't afford to have kids. For an individual, it's easy to say - too bad, that's the choice you made when you took on this debt. But collectively, the effect of the problem is growing income inequality, the erosion of the middle class, and a slowing economy as consumer dollars are being swallowed by student loan payments rather than being used to buy houses, goods and services. Our birth rate is slowing and we risk not having the labor pool we need in the coming decades (already a problem, bound to get worse). If we view these problems as detrimental to society as a whole rather than just the problem of an individual, then it makes sense to consider ways of eliminating debt. A large part of the problem, of course, is that the cost of a college education has far outpaced inflation during the last generation. I think if a plan like Warren's is to work, it needs to be tied to an expectation that colleges and universities keep their tuition and fees below a certain number - basically, if you want to receive loan money, your total cost of attendance needs to be at or below X. Make the colleges find a way to bring their costs down. The result will be that more students will be able to afford the cost of college without loans, and those who do take loans will have a lower burden. The amount that needs to be "forgiven" will be substantially decreased. We can't just continue on in saying that you need a college education to have a nice, middle-class life, but that if your parents aren't wealthy, you're going to have to take on six-figure student loans to do it. This road leads to financial disaster for us as a country. (And while I support more people going into trades, that's not the answer for all. We still also need professionals and we need those people to be able to afford a decent life when they graduate, and not have their income swallowed by student loans.)

”Iran to defy Uranium Stockpile Limits”
Anyone surprised? What did one think was going to happen once we pulled out of the agreement that Iran was abiding by? And now trump is leading the charge that it’s Iran that is attacking those ships with questionable proof.
This is why trump is so damn dangerous and he has his best buddy pushing him on.
Reuters...
”Israel urges snapback sanctions on Iran if it breaches uranium limit”.
This is a big mess all because of trump.

Regarding the student loans, I agree with much that Merge stated above.
we also need to address the predatory interest rate of the student loans. You can get car loans and mortgages for 3% but student loans, which are a long term investment are 9-10% or more. And even higher for those that need to use private versus government lenders. And you can never refinance term for a lower rate of interest, so it is a stranglehold for students.

I have a problem. When I pay attention and see all the folks that need some help I want help for them. The problem? I don’t think we should pick one group over another.
Did some checking with my friend google.
Currently there are roughly 44M folks with student loans. Out of a country of 320M+ that would mean 14% of the population have student loans.
Currently there are 100M folks at the threshold of the poverty level or below the level. Out of a country of 320M folks that is roughly 1/3 of the country is close, at, or under the poverty level.
Not every job that give you a “middle income salary” requires a college degree.
A college education does not necessarily give one the actual skills or abilities to do a job. In some cases it just looks good on a resume.
Just about everybody is having problems finding affordable housing. It’s just not college educated with student loans that are having a problems.
As I said earlier, I don’t have any problem reducing the interest rates on loans to just enough to cover the processing fees for handling the loan during its life. I do have a problem wiping out the loans.
That money can be better spent shoring up education for grades kindergarten through grade 12 by making sure all kids get the same quality education. And I would love to see 2 year community colleges free as long as they have trade schools attached to them.
And at the end of the day, no matter what case you make, how can one justify wiping away the debt for some while so many others are struggling to pay their own debts.

I like Paul Waldman of the Washington Post...
“Trump actually wants to make the election about health care. Good luck with that.”
“Back when he was a mere real estate developer, Donald Trump understood the power of claiming that something spectacular exists even when it doesn’t, which is why he added 10 imaginary floors to Trump Tower so he could say it was 68 stories high instead of its actual 58.
Although most of us would call that “lying,” it can be an effective strategy so long as people don’t check, or if they find out the truth but don’t really care.
As president it’s not so easy, because you’re dealing with matters that are vitally important to people’s lives, such as health care. And if there’s another building right next to yours (figuratively speaking) that’s obviously much taller, it gets even harder to claim that yours is the highest on the block.
In his gobsmacking interview with ABC News, President Trump — in addition to signaling that he’d welcome foreign help in 2020 — also answered a question about health care. He offered the health policy equivalent of the 10 imaginary Trump Tower floors — they exist, and they’re fantastic, believe me! — and this gives us a preview of how the discussion about this issue is going to play out in the election.
Trump claimed that he’d be announcing his new health care plan in “about two months. Maybe less.” Then George Stephanopoulos pointed out that his administration is supporting a lawsuit that would eliminate the entire Affordable Care Act, including protections for tens of millions of Americans with preexisting conditions. Then this happened:
“TRUMP: Well, no. Preexisting conditions -- I was for preexisting conditions. And I still -- you know, I’m very much for preexisting conditions. But Obamacare has been a disaster. Look what --
(OVERTALK)
STEPHANOPOULOS: -- get charged higher under your plan, right?
TRUMP: No, much lower. Under my plan, they’ll be much lower. You’ll see that in a month when we -- when we -- introduce it. We’re going to have a plan. That’s subject to winning the House, Senate, and presidency, which hopefully we’ll win all three. We’ll have phenomenal health care.
STEPHANOPOULOS: And so you’re definitely introducing a plan before the election?
TRUMP: Before the election, yes. We’ll be having a plan much before the election. Soon. Fairly soon. It’s almost complete.”
It’ll be coming right after Jared Kushner’s Middle East peace plan. Maybe in the middle of Infrastructure Week.
We can be reasonably certain that the Democratic nominee will offer a detailed, specific plan meant to address problems such as the remaining uninsured, health-care costs at the systemic and individual level, and any number of other challenges.
The president, on the other hand, will be offering the policy equivalent of vaporware, vague descriptions of a plan that doesn’t and will never exist.
So for voters, there will be two contrasts to judge. The Democrat will have a serious plan to fix what’s wrong, a plan you might or might not think is worthwhile. Trump, on the other hand, will have no plan at all.
You might recall that about three months ago, Trump claimed that he had assigned a couple of Republican senators to come up with a health-care plan, and it would be ready real soon. But there was no plan, and there was never going to be a plan. This new plan, coming in a month or two? It’s not coming, either.
Why not? Two basic reasons. First, Republicans in general and Trump in particular don’t care enough about the issue to put any energy into it. Second and more important, they know that what they’d like to do on health care is so incredibly unpopular that actually laying it out would be politically catastrophic, as they learned when they tried and failed to “repeal and replace” the ACA in 2017.
Which means that in 2020, voters are going to choose between something and nothing.
As of now, some of the Democratic candidates have released specific health-care plans, while others have endorsed existing ideas produced by think tanks or other legislators. But those who haven’t done so yet will surely come up with them as the primary process moves along. Depending on who the nominee is, their plan could be anything from shoring up the Affordable Care Act and adding a public option (Joe Biden’s position) to full-on single-payer (Bernie Sanders’s position).
Whoever that nominee is and whatever specific plan they offer, it’s going to be lengthy, detailed and serious, because the position they’re in is the opposite of the Republican one: Democrats care deeply about health care, and the things they want to do about it (such as making sure everyone has insurance and actually protecting people with preexisting conditions) are extremely popular.
The New York Times reports that many Republicans believe Trump should just avoid the issue. But, as the Times notes: “the president and his team counter that even if they cannot win on health care, it would be ridiculous to simply cede the territory if they could at least narrow the gap.”
The problem is that they can’t, because everything he can say about it only makes things worse.
So don’t be surprised to see Trump pivot every time the issue comes up. What’s your health-care plan? It’s great, it’s spectacular, I’ll be unveiling it soon, but in the meantime let me tell you how awful it is that Democrats want to force your grandmother to die so they can harvest her organs and give them to transgender illegal alien abortionists. Not on my watch!
What that means is that Trump will be defending the status quo, even as he argues that the status quo is a nightmare (“Obamacare has been a disaster”). As hard as it can be to argue for radical change, that puts the Democrats in a pretty good position to persuade voters that their approach is better.

From Newsweek...
“MITCH MCCONNELL INSISTS HE'D CONFIRM SUPREME COURT NOMINEE IN ELECTION YEAR, CLAIMS SITUATION DIFFERENT TO 2016”
”Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has again insisted that Republicans would be willing to confirm a new justice to the Supreme Court during the upcoming presidential election, arguing that the situation is different than it was in 2016 when he infamously refused to consider President Barack Obama's nominee Merrick Garland.
"The precedent that people ignored back in 2016 when I made the decision not to fill the vacancy during the middle of the presidential election was who controlled the Senate," McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, said during an interview with Fox & Friends on Monday morning. "You know, you have to go back to 1888 to find the last time a Senate of a different party from the president confirmed a vacancy to the Supreme Court that occurred during the presidential election. Makes sense," he asserted.
Continuing, he said that Republicans would "still control the Senate next year" and that "if there were to be a vacancy, of course we'd fill it."
McDonnell's argument is, however, a little misleading. Before Garland, the most recent case of an election-year Supreme Court judicial confirmation was Anthony Kennedy in 1988. Kennedy was nominated by Republican President Ronald Reagan in November 1987 and was eventually confirmed 97-0 by a Democrat-led Senate in February of 1988. According to The New York Times, the last time a Republican-led Senate confirmed a Supreme Court nominee put forward by a Democratic president was back in 1895. Conversely, Democrat-led Senates have confirmed 13 top court nominees from Republican presidents since then.
The Senate majority leader has been strongly criticized by Democrats for his willingness to confirm another justice to the Supreme Court nominated by President Donald Trump despite his refusal to consider doing so under Obama. Several have called out what they see as McConnell's hypocrisy.
"Senator McConnell is a hypocrite," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York wrote on Twitter last month.
We've known all along how hypocritical the [Senate majority leader] is," Demoratic 2020 presidential candidate Julian Castro added. "But his shamelessness at stealing a Supreme Court seat is appalling."
Back in 2016, McConnell refused to allow the Senate to consider Garland's nomination, arguing inaccurately that it was against precedent for such a decision to be made in an election year. He had also mentioned the issue of party-divide, but has turned more to that argument as a defense of what many see as his double standard in recent months.
Garland was nominated by Obama after the sudden death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia. As a result of McConnell's unwillingness to consider the former president's nomination, conservative Neil Gorsuch was nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate in April 2017.

After 2.5 years of this shit show, I think I'm more pissed at that co*ksucker Mitch McConnell. The liar in chief is too ignorant to know what he's doing, but Mitch knows exactly what he's doing. I wanted to punch his smug ass face last week when asked what he would do if a SC had an opening next year, an election year and he giggled like a little girl and said "Well, we'll fill it"....fuck you Mitch. I hope Kentucky wakes the fuck up and ditches that POS, so the country doesn't have to see him and his grifter wife ever again.

ABC News...
”Federal officials made a massive cocaine bust in Philadelphia Tuesday, seizing an estimated 16.5 tons of the drug from a ship there -- with a street value of over $1 billion, officials said.
The historic bust -- the largest in the history of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania -- comes amid a series of large seizures of the drug in the Northeast, including a record seizure of $18 million worth of the drug in March.
New York saw its largest cocaine bust in a quarter century in that months as well with $77 million worth of the drug seized from a cargo ship in the port of New York and New Jersey.
An official said the ship, the MSC Gayane, was headed from Chile to Europe when the drugs were found in Philadelphia at the Packer Marine Terminal. Members of the crew were charged, according to the local U.S. attorney's office.
Yea we had better hurry and get that fence built to stop drugs from coming into the country. Oh wait, they came by sea to a US seaport, a legal port of entry.
Maybe instead of wasting money on a wall, it could be better spent beefing up the security at legal points of entry.

Is it possible the Trump campaign hired these people to wait in line and make him look more popular? I know they’ve hired “fans” before. I just can’t imagine anyone staying in line for two days, through dangerous weather warnings, unless they were getting paid for it. Especially old people who usually have bathroom issues. Shanahan, Acting Secretary of Defense, who has been undergoing confirmation hearings, has now withdrawn from the position. This follows the WaPo story about domestic abuse allegations and a contentious divorce.
Not exactly the best time to be without an experienced Secretary of Defense with us currently under threat of nuclear was from both Iran and North Korea.
Can't they vet people? How hard is it to follow the most basic investigation procedures. I swear I was investigated more thoroughly for my former job, then anyone currently serving in the white House.
