Lol not sure what I was thinking when I booked this flight, but it departs at 5:45 AM tomorrow/Monday, boarding starts at 5:15 AM. Southwest flight, carryon only. The airport is 45 minutes away. What time would you plan to arrive at the airport? (I’ve already decided, I’m just curious what peas would do )

Between 1.5 and 2 hours early depending on where I’m going and who is flying with me.

Me, too. (I'd probably plan for 3:45, but that's because if I'm not early, I'm late.) The airport might be less crowded than later in the day, but I also think the staffing is lighter, too.

Since it is carryon only I’d arrive about an hour before boarding begins.

3:30 - 4 for domestic. I'd be a nervous wreck waiting later!

You all are crazy lol (I’m getting up at 2:30 to shower, etc, and will start monitoring Lyft times as soon as I get up. It’ll take about an hour to get ready, eat breakfast, attend to the pets, etc. so I should be leaving around 3:30 and should be at the airport by 4:15 but as long as I arrive by 4:30, I won’t worry at all. Security isn’t bad at PDX very early mornings. Honestly, I could probably push it until almost 5:00 without issue. My gate is just past security. I’m an early riser but my schedule tomorrow is packed from 10 AM until after midnight, so it’s going to be a looooong day.)

Depending on what airport, but if it was my small-isn Regional airport, I'd get there at 445. I am also TSA Precheck or whatever they are calling that these days so I don't have to wait in the general security line with everyone else.

Probably 4:00, but it depends on the size of the airport. The security line at SeaTac was huge yesterday; took 45-60 minutes to get through it. TSA agents are being reassigned so, in general, security is taking longer.

My airport, I would arrive at 4:45-5:00 depending on if I was by myself or had people with me. By myself, 5. But we have a small regional airport, and depending on the flights that morning, it won’t take more than 5 minutes to get through security.

4:00-4:15.
I have flown out of Las Vegas on several early morning Southwest flights. The lines can be surprisingly long, especially for flights heading east.

Two hours before. You never know how long the security line will be. You need to go to bed--now!!

Otherwise, you go through the same line as everyone else.

First flights on a Monday morning are usually packed. I give time for security especially because most business travelers will have pre check.

1. I wouldn’t book a 5:45 am flight. 😂 2. If I did, I would have to stay up all night for fear of oversleeping. I would get there by 3:45.

I would be at the airport at 4:45am (like in the airport, not still parking).

My local small airport wouldn’t even open the security line until 5:00ish. Parking is free and literally about 50 feet away, so I would arrive about 5:00. If I was checking a bag, I’d arrive about 4:50.

How big is the airport? Our airport has 12 gates and I can get there an hour before boarding and still wait a good 50 minutes to board. If I go to our international airport, I leave early enough to make sure traffic isn't an issue (nighttime construction is a consideration too). Luggage needs to be on the plane a good 45 minutes (generally) before departure. In the early morning, I cut it a little closer... other times I plan on more time.
And how far away is the parking? That can be an issue also.

With carry on only, between 4:45-5 and hope security wasn't a mess. Monday mornings can be awfully rough at SeaTac.

4-4:15 am for my local regional airport. TSA line takes maybe 5-10 minutes. Only if you get that line before 4:15. Anything after that the herd hits! 4:30 to 7 is prime time over there!

I’m in the 4:45 camp if I had an assigned seat. But, I don’t fly Southwest, so I’m not sure how early you need to arrive to get a good seat (assuming you didn’t pay extra for an assigned seat).

I hardly ever fly Southwest either but they were the only option that let me fly out this morning and arrive in time for the keynote instead of having to leave Sunday (which would have meant I missed the last day of my son’s baseball tournament). It’s a short flight - only to San Jose - so I don’t care too much about a good seat. I’m in my Lyft now and my airport ETA is 4:20.

I would be at the airport at 4:45am (like in the airport, not still parking). Depending on the airport, this is my answer. The couple of airports closest to me would be notoriously slow that early in the morning - no lines. In fact, we got there so early for a flight to Las Vegas one time, the ticket counters weren't even open yet. None of them... not just our airline. It was a total waste of time to arrive early.
