Pretty rolling papers is excellent. I'm surprised no one has done that yet. I think that's pretty cool ashley mikklynn I don't think I've ever been as happy about a pea retirement as I am for you. I hope you enjoy every minute of it. I'm on my way home from Washington DC. I'm glad. I'm ready to sleep in my own bed. And I have tomorrow off. I plan to sleep in and then maybe scrapbook. Aw, that is really sweet. Thank you.

The past few weeks have been awful for me, but DH and I are taking a short vacation (vacations never happen for us) to Salem, Mass because the history of the witches are so interesting to us and we’ve always wanted to go...we plan on stopping in Boston on the way back. Summer is an awesome time to visit Salem! I don’t live far (my dd was born there). If you like seafood I would recommend dinner at Turner’s. It’s in an old building downtown and the food and service are excellent. Waits can be long but they take reservations. Thanks, we’ve been researching places to eat on YouTube and Turner’s was one place that kept coming up as a really good place to eat seafood (which we love). Another place was Sea Level Oyster Bar that was highly recommend.

I agree the industry is very male-oriented when it comes to accessories as well. I was impressed at the level of design and decor at Lift & Co expo... there is a whole wave of professional, beautiful branding out there. There are some lovely, tasteful accessories but they are def the minority and often extremely high end (ie, the only bong I’ve ever wanted to buy was a glass one that was $1400, and not because it was techie in any way). Things, here at least, are a little extra complicated by limits in marketing rules and packaging. My husband used to be a glass blower. At one time, we owned a small group of high end smoke shops. We had some amazing art in our shop. The most expensive piece we ever sold cost $14k US. It was beautiful and insane. The collector who purchased it had a colle ton of glass pieces (functional and not) that was easily worth a couple hundred thousand dollars. I can imagine how much my cats would enjoy a collection like that . I wonder if expensive glass shatters with greater satisfaction than cheap stuff? Haha

The expensive stuff sounds like crumbling money when it breaks I broke a couple of expensive pieces while dusting and I always felt so terrible. The owner of that piece was a regular customer. He once bought a piece that cost about $2k, and broke it the next day. My husband was able to repair the break because of where it was on the piece, but it was not uncommon for people to spend good money on something and break it immediately or soon after it was purchased.

We have a curio cabinet for glass and crystal. No one is ever to open it or close it. It is air tight and probably dusty. Everyone knows to just leave it alone.

He was very skilled at what was called proto in the industry - basically, high quality, American made production pieces. Unfortunately, cheap hand blown glass made overseas (China and India, mostly) in horrible conditions began to flood the proto market and really hurt American artists. We sold our last shop nearly 11 years ago. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find photos of some of the glass we sold. We had some really cool stuff.

I finally finished my degree (3years full time while working full time plus dealing with everything else in my life!). I heard on Friday that I get to stay in the school I’ve been teaching in all this time & I’m thrilled about my class for next year. DS is home from another successful year at uni. He’s done really well. Since he came home he has tidied & reorganised his room that I recently decorated for him. It looks great. This has prompted dd to sort her tip out & that’s looking great too. I’m enjoying a lovely day out with dh as we try to make the most of my newly free time! In 4 weeks dh & I head to Marrakech for a long weekend to celebrate our silver anniversary. The following week were throwing a big party to celebrate this & all the other great stuff from this year (degree, ds turning 21, dh’s new job etc). The weekend after that the four of us head to Europe for a fortnight seeing 4 cities. Two weeks after we get home from that, dd, ds & I set off driving to Denmark (where ds is studying next year), taking in a trip to Amsterdam along the way. Dd meanwhile is working hard both at college & in her weekend job. She’s just treated her & I to concert tickets later in the year (which thrilled her; she felt so grown up). She’s booking onto university open days & making great plans. We are very lucky & try to make the most of the opportunities our hard work brings us. Congratulations on graduating and getting a job already! Cindy

ashley, I love your rolling paper idea. I feel like most paraphernalia is made by boys thinking they know what will appeal to girls. Maybe you can work on some more interesting bongs. While I realize they by and large look like boy junk, I think they could be done with more girl appeal. You know like ones that blend in to house decor, or aren't a cacophony of obnoxious colours. Oooh or maybe look like a vase. Haha...so funny...but nuggets of truth there...

My husband and I just got back from 5 weeks in Europe (4 in Italy and the 5th in Bavaria). We had a great time and took tons of photos. This week we got our boat in the water and enjoyed a beautiful sunny weekend.
NoWomanNoCry: If you are interested in the Salem Witch Trials, make sure you go to Danvers. We were interested and stayed there for a few days as well as Salem, because Danvers used to be Salem Village, where everyone lived. We researched ahead so we knew where all the relevant buildings were, which was good because they are not marked. It is like they are trying to forget that part of their past, whereas Salem has embraced it. Some of the houses mention a former owner who was a revolutionary soldier but not that the house also belonged to someone from the witch trials. Visit the Nurse Homestead in Danvers. That was good. It has the church building on the grounds as well.

My life is great, in general.
Single, and doing whatever I please(or not doing something). There's just something about not having to compromise with anyone, about anything. I decide the home decor. I decide where to go on a mini road trip. I make all the financial decisions. etc...
I am happy and content. Living my life, my way.

I love watching my teens love their lives. One will be a freshman in high school and the other a junior. Each of them have their own solid circle of friends. They just seem happy. I am so loving their teenage years so much more then I could have ever imagined. I was afraid!!!

Congratulations on graduating and getting a job already! Cindy Thanks. I’ve worked as a teacher throughout (& before) the entire degree (odd, I know but true) so I’m just continuing my job but I wasn’t sure where I’d be next year/if I would get my own class again or be job-sharing. Really happy to hear that I get my own class again (I’ve been job-sharing this year & it’s challenging).

This post brings up fun memories of when we lived in TX. A local glass blowing company would have a once a year event where they would auction off some of their pieces. If the secret reserve was not met, the piece of glass artwork was smashed! Fascinating and shocking at the same time!

Life is absolutely awesome right now! I teach at a college, and have the summer off for the first time in several years. I slept this morning until 7:00AM!! and then went to Bath and Body Works to stock up on candles on sale. My dd and her boyfriend were in town yesterday and we had a fantastic time with them. Ashley, do you plan to combine your love of baking with your cannabis training? I'm picturing gorgeous cupcakes in paper liners that you design

Regarding rolling papers.. I’ve seen gold ones but they are $$$. And the patterned ones are kinda ugly and always scented. Check out rawkandroll on IG. Josh is the founder of RAW rolling papers and has been designing rolling papers for over 20 years. He has a fun post today about some of the papers he's created over the years. He also has a couple videos on his page about what works, doesn't and why with papers.

Let’s hear what’s good in your life... what is ahead that’s bright? I went to a cannabis expo in Toronto on Friday for industry professionals and had a good time. One of the lead scientists (a woman) for an extraction company called me a unicorn. I had lots of interests in my skill set and what I could offer to a company... and was told by several licences growers and testing/extraction companies that I will be highly sought after and will be in a good place for a great job (highest paying position in the industry aside from CEO/CFO!). So I am feeling even more optimistic (and I also want to start a rolling paper company with pretty papers that look like unicorn horns once rolled). That sounds so exciting! Do you mind telling me a bit about the cannabis training you've had and where you've gotten it? I got my MM card last August and have learned quite a bit about the industry just from being a MM patient. My hope is to one day be able to finally get my chronic migraines under control enough (they have gotten better using cannabis) so that I'm able to go back to work. I would love to find out if the idea of pursuing a job in the cannabis industry is even feasible. I love helping people and am a people person. My former career was as a wedding photographer but that's a very difficult thing to be when you get migraines-you certainly can't get a migraine on a wedding day! What's ahead in my life that is bright? I'm looking forward to going to The Historical Fiction Reader's Festival and Book Signing on June 22nd that I have tickets to. Here is the website hns-conference.com It's taking place near Baltimore, MD. I'm so excited. There will be over 110 authors there.

birukitty, I’m taking a post graduate programme at a college. It’s one of our government approved schools, not a private or online school. It’s full time, 32 weeks long, and we learn all aspects of the industry. Growing, biochemistry and biology, the government regulations, pest control (can’t use pesticides). We have a lab (called the Cannabunker) in which we grow cannabis — all the steps, cloning, mixing fertilizer, etc. We also have work placements and opportunities with licenced producers.
