Let’s hear what’s good in your life... what is ahead that’s bright? I went to a cannabis expo in Toronto on Friday for industry professionals and had a good time. One of the lead scientists (a woman) for an extraction company called me a unicorn. I had lots of interests in my skill set and what I could offer to a company... and was told by several licences growers and testing/extraction companies that I will be highly sought after and will be in a good place for a great job (highest paying position in the industry aside from CEO/CFO!). So I am feeling even more optimistic (and I also want to start a rolling paper company with pretty papers that look like unicorn horns once rolled).

I hope you land a great job ashley. Creating fun rolling papers is a great idea. I retired last week, so everything is good.

I also want to start a rolling paper company with pretty papers that look like unicorn horns once rolled). I had to read this a few times before I understood what you meant. The first thing that came to mind was: Roll papers to look like unicorns? How would you use that on a scrapbook page? Goes to show how much I know, or use, cannabis.

Pretty rolling papers is excellent. I'm surprised no one has done that yet. I think that's pretty cool ashleymikklynn I don't think I've ever been as happy about a pea retirement as I am for you. I hope you enjoy every minute of it. I'm on my way home from Washington DC. I'm glad. I'm ready to sleep in my own bed. And I have tomorrow off. I plan to sleep in and then maybe scrapbook.

Regarding rolling papers.. I’ve seen gold ones but they are $$$. And the patterned ones are kinda ugly and always scented.

I retired last week, so everything is good. Congratulations - welcome to a life of doing what you want to do as opposed to doing what you have to do. It it is wonderful being retired and I'm certainly not sick of it at all. Enjoy your new life style!

What’s ahead that’s bright: I have one more full week of work, then the following week is one day with the rest in Vegas with dh, and then when I get back I start telework. I have been waiting for this for over two years and I am so excited it’s finally happening. I have a long commute and I’m just tired of it. I am also looking forward to getting away from some people (loud ones, ones that don’t do their work) so I can just focus on my job which I really love.

I did get my car back yesterday! Which I’m very happy about. But that’s not ahead.
I get to see my far away cousin in 2 weeks!

My husband has been ill for 5 weeks and had been unable to drive. He finally started feeling better and has started driving in the last couple of days. It’s a godsend. I’ve been stressing about getting to work late, leaving early, picking up kids on time, etc. He only feels comfortable driving close to home, but that’s all I need. I’m thrilled. (I mean of course, I’m also happy that he’s feeling better.)

My dh and ds leave today for their 11th annual, 2 week, father/son mountain biking trip. While I miss them like crazy cakes, I enjoy the time in my house by myself, and love knowing that my 2 favorite people are out there having a blast doing what they love.
When they get back, ds, his besties, and I are going to the PNW for 2 weeks for a cousin reunion and hanging around.
Ds just graduated, so we will soon be empty nesters. Looking forward to it, even though we will miss him so very much.

ashley, I love your rolling paper idea. I feel like most paraphernalia is made by boys thinking they know what will appeal to girls. Maybe you can work on some more interesting bongs. While I realize they by and large look like boy junk, I think they could be done with more girl appeal. You know like ones that blend in to house decor, or aren't a cacophony of obnoxious colours. Oooh or maybe look like a vase.

I finally finished my degree (3years full time while working full time plus dealing with everything else in my life!).
I heard on Friday that I get to stay in the school I’ve been teaching in all this time & I’m thrilled about my class for next year.
DS is home from another successful year at uni. He’s done really well. Since he came home he has tidied & reorganised his room that I recently decorated for him. It looks great. This has prompted dd to sort her tip out & that’s looking great too.
I’m enjoying a lovely day out with dh as we try to make the most of my newly free time!
In 4 weeks dh & I head to Marrakech for a long weekend to celebrate our silver anniversary. The following week were throwing a big party to celebrate this & all the other great stuff from this year (degree, ds turning 21, dh’s new job etc). The weekend after that the four of us head to Europe for a fortnight seeing 4 cities.
Two weeks after we get home from that, dd, ds & I set off driving to Denmark (where ds is studying next year), taking in a trip to Amsterdam along the way.
Dd meanwhile is working hard both at college & in her weekend job. She’s just treated her & I to concert tickets later in the year (which thrilled her; she felt so grown up). She’s booking onto university open days & making great plans.
We are very lucky & try to make the most of the opportunities our hard work brings us.

I was impressed at the level of design and decor at Lift & Co expo... there is a whole wave of professional, beautiful branding out there. There are some lovely, tasteful accessories but they are def the minority and often extremely high end (ie, the only bong I’ve ever wanted to buy was a glass one that was $1400, and not because it was techie in any way). Things, here at least, are a little extra complicated by limits in marketing rules and packaging.

I'll have to look out for one of the exposure to see what's out there.

I love the unicorn horn rolling paper idea. My friend had some gorgeous watercolour prerolled cones the other day. Cannibis merchandise has stepped up in the last while. It seemed a shame to burn them.
Good luck with the new direction- all the people I know who work in that field are very passionate and love their jobs. It's a fun and interesting culture to be sure!

The past few weeks have been awful for me, but DH and I are taking a short vacation (vacations never happen for us) to Salem, Mass because the history of the witches are so interesting to us and we’ve always wanted to go...we plan on stopping in Boston on the way back.

Just cruising through the summer with my kids home. Maybe some day trips with them, but they are working so who knows.
DH has done something to his back...so painful for him never seen him like this. But he's being a man and won't go to the doc.

I am going to Seattle to spend time with amblet and @roserose in July!!! I am so psyched! ashley I was telling DS about your educational pursuits and he is also most impressed. We are both interested in the cannabis industry and femenizing it as well. I am looking forward to more types of edibles on the market. I will not smoke and vaping isn’t great either but eating is awesome!!!

Summer is an awesome time to visit Salem! I don’t live far (my dd was born there). If you like seafood I would recommend dinner at Turner’s. It’s in an old building downtown and the food and service are excellent. Waits can be long but they take reservations.

It’s summer vacation for me! I’ve enjoyed the last two weeks, doing a lot of crafting/journaling, resting, cleaning, catching up on TV. But now I’m getting restless and need to get out! So am sitting here this morning planning a bunch of day trips and MAYBE a short getaway. But my dog is VERY old, so I don’t like to leave him for too long, and my brother just had major surgery on his arm again and cannot drive. So I am currently their only means of transportation. So I’m mostly sticking close to home.

Fantastic, have a great time.
I'm going to E3 this week. A graphic I prepared might be projected on an 8 ft screen. It is out of my wheel house, but really fun.

We had some amazing art in our shop. The most expensive piece we ever sold cost $14k US. It was beautiful and insane. The collector who purchased it had a colle ton of glass pieces (functional and not) that was easily worth a couple hundred thousand dollars.
