It really did! With big(ger) ones I always wonder if it's just me that feels like it went on for awhile or it really is! I was just talking to my family about how we haven't had a big earthquake in awhile!!!

I had to look up where Searles Valley is! For the record, in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County close to the Inyo County line. Seems fairly lightly populated, so hopefully no injuries or damage.

Ugh! My dd and her dh are camping 60 miles from where it hit and now I’m a nervous nelly because neither of them are answering their phones. I know they have service since we FaceTimed earlier. Hopefully they are just out on the Lake enjoying their day.

I felt it in Santa Barbara. DH and DD were standing in the kitchen and didn't notice anything. I was sitting at the dining room table and it felt like the table was being pushed back and forth, side to side. I said, "Earthquake!" but when they didn't feel it, I started to wonder if it was a new, weird vertigo for me. (I've had some baaad bouts with vertigo.) Hoping there were no injuries let along fatalities.

Hopefully they are just out on the Lake enjoying their day. Just heard from my DH who is hiking on Mt. Wilson, he felt it but he said it felt a small jerk, not like the rolling we felt here in the "the" Valley (San Fernando Valley).

As long as there is no damage and no one gets hurt, I like them. I think they are fun. I know I'm weird.🤪

But, I've never been in one that could actually be felt so maybe Im not the best person to be thinking this.

This is me too! They are fairly new to my area (middle of the USA) and usually under 4.5 but they always seem cool to me as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

Just heard from them. They are fine. Sent me pics of their toes in the lake. They didn’t feel a thing. My sil said “dang it! I’ve still never felt one!” They’ve lived in California the past 4 years and he’s been deployed anytime there has been one previously that my dd did feel. I lived in California for 31 years so I’ve felt my fair share and have seen the damage the Northridge quake did in the 90’s. Anyway, I hope there are no injuries or major damage with this one. Thanks for the hugs!

I am always in awe of the massive force of the earth. This quake moved a HUGE area. For sure! The distance it was felt is amazing!! We felt it pretty strong here (Santa Clarita). My dog was going nuts 10 seconds before we felt shaking. We couldn't figure out what was wrong, barking mad, crazy and aimlessly. It was completely out of character for him. I have never had or seen in person, a dog that reacted like this before!

Just curious, did anyone get an earthquake alert on their phone? We just had that drill so I was wondering if anyone get an alert for this quake.

I was in the 89 Loma Prieta quake and watched the school field behind my parents house as the surface waves traveled along. It was CRAZY! Where I live now, we don't have them. Weird, but I miss them. Mad that I didn't feel this one even though others in my area did.

Oh no I was hoping there wouldn't be much damage since it was in an area that's not densely populated. I hope they get the fires out quickly and there isn't much damage. I also hope there aren't any big aftershocks as I know there will be hundreds of small ones. We felt it here and a friend posted she felt it at Disneyland so I figured it had to be a big one to be felt over such a large area.
