God...now I’m a little afraid to take the Ancestry.com DNA test I got/for my birthday!
I know you are joking but you won't see me taking that dna test and being entered in a database anytime soon and I certainly wouldn't let my daughter take one.
Yes, seriously.
I will never do a ancestry or 23&me DNA test. How easy would it be for the government to just hack the company?
And I don't think for a minute that they wouldn't.
**Note to readers** If I'm "liking" your sad post, it's because I'm trying to say, "I hear you. I'm listening. Your voice is valid." Not that I enjoy your misfortune.
I am so flustered. I used to respond to messages in a trollish manner. I really wanted to be better so I am trying.
This thread actually has me so confused. I don't understand, I can't see the logic in a conservative message (I am completely reading as rude) that spouts *accept my beliefs* be nice everyone here is rude except me, blahblahblah. But the refuse to stand up against trump.
I am actually crying. Bewildered. So confused. I worry about my atypical child and my non-binary child, and many friends and family that fall into these lines. Conservative beliefs are hurting my loved ones well being. Trying to take away basic rights and make medical care impossible for these people that I love. I am supposed to forgive and remain *nice* because it is just part of what conservatives believe? These are humans, made by God if you're a Christian how can *you* be ok with this? I should be accepting of you beliefs that any human is less-than?
We know Trump was involved in inappropriate behavior with children how do you ignore that? Why is it ok?

You are just fine in your “word bumbling” lol.
This administration and the attack of human beings by conservatives is rendering people into an unbelievable speechless state—we can believe the shit that us coming from them because it goes against basic humanity, live they neighbors, and anything remotely close to what their God would ever do.
Thank you, Elaine (can't tag on my tablet) for starting this thread. And thank you to all the well-spoken, articulate respondents who have written posts that leave no doubt as to the utter corruption of this racist, hate-driven administration. I attempted to respond, but you all have done it so much better than I.
The driveway press conference and Kelleyanne Conway's response has made it clear to me that as Lucy says, "We are doomed." I think for me, hearing her question Andrew Feinberg's "ethnicity" has made today the lowest point of Trump's reign.
I am horrified/traumatised to think of what might be coming, but I will do my best to continue to call out the errors of this administration, even though I am surrounded by rural types here in Arkansas who think he is ok. It is a daily battle for me, a native New Yorker, but I promise you, I will NOT falter!!!
I hear you, and agree. And the sad horrifying part of this is that I’ve thought over and over in the past 2 years that we’ve hit the “lowest point” and then things sink even more.
How can we as as a country stand for a President who tells citizens to “go back where they came from” because they disagree with his policies and a White House spokesperson figuratively asks a reporter for his papers just the next day?

Your words sounded just fine to me. Since all this awfulness started I have heard TV news people, the ones who are PAID to be articulate, reduced to silence... Chris Cuomo once on the morning news (before he left to have his own evening show) said, after his mouth had been moving but nothing was coming out, "Okay folks, you've just seen something unprecedented...Chris Cuomo speechless."
I am also a immigrant in this country as well as my mum & sister, her DH & their children. My father was born here but left to visit Australia where he met my mum & we immigrated to the US in the ‘70’s. My family on my dads side is full of different nationalities; Japanese, Mexican, Cuban, Chinese, Nigerian & I’m sure a few more I can’t think of now. I was not raised to see color or nationality but I was raised to see kindness & just damn good in people & that is what I look for. I don’t give a fuck where you live, where you come from, your sexual preference, if you believe in a god or not but I do care if you are a good person. I don’t even care what your political choices are, we live in America & are lucky enough that we get to choose!
Pro life is so much more than the unborn. I do believe life starts at conception, but one thing i know for sure is that life does not end at birth. Pro life for me, covers each and every step of the way from conception to death.
Not speaking out now just shows how much you (general you) don’t really value life.
You've said it better than I ever have, and I agree a million percent.
My real name is Jennifer. Neither "Rosie" nor "Kat" have anything to do with my name. They are just there to confuse everyone. (Nah, just a forum name I came up with one time when all my other ideas were taken.)
I got to the "he's sick and tired of this country" and had to turn it off. The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is sick and tired of his own country?!? Are you flipping kidding me?
I hate to say this, because it sounds like I'm defending her and I MOST CERTAINLY AM NOT, but that was a sentence fragment and not her actual meaning. She was clearly stumbling and trying to come up with some bullshit adequate to make it seem like Trump isn't a flaming racist and his tweets were just fine. She said that, cut herself off, and then said something more like "sick and tired of people in this country <blah blah blah lies lies lies>"
What she said was still totally gross and terrible, don't get me wrong. But if you listen a little further, it was clear that she misspoke. Because I imagine it's really hard to defend that garbage fire of a human, even if you're soulless and dead inside.
At least I now know that the bat phone is ringing and the rest will read this.
I have been really busy taking your “privileged” money for the rentals here at the beach. You would think y’all could give up a vacation at the beach to help the little illegals.
What does "little illegals" mean? People under a certain height? Is it okay, in your mind, to give money to "big illegals"?

FWIW, you are doing fine. A lot of people like Trump because their stocks are doing well. Many elected representatives do not like a lot of what he says, but are afraid of being primaried. Others like him because they like his rhetoric.
This is an extraordinary time. Historians will study this administration and its base carefully. And history will not be kind. We can only accept for now that a large segment of the population saw fit to elect this man, and work like hell to make sure that he only gets one term. It is the only thing that matters right now. Any of the Democratic candidates would be better than Trump.
I am sorry for your distress. Channel it to work for the candidate of your choice. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I will never do a ancestry or 23&me DNA test. How easy would it be for the government to just hack the company?
And I don't think for a minute that they wouldn't.
Not to derail the topic, but if the government wants your dna they will get it. 23 & me or not. You shed dna all the time. Do you take every tissue you use home with you & burn it?
Besides, if they want to eliminate/deport you they won’t need dna they’ll just make up a reason why your unacceptable.
But if people do the medical portion of these dna tests then they HAVE to be honest about those results going forward applying for insurance. I know long term care insurance can be denied on the basis of dna testing. And it can be revoked if they find you weren’t forthcoming about a test. And if the senate can play around with our ‘existing conditions’ protections in health insurance I don’t trust they won’t remove the rules about dna.
All conspiracy theories aside I’m not avoiding dna testing because ‘big brother’ or some other government conspiracy theory, I’m avoiding dna testing because insurance coverage health-life-long term care insurance coverage which is actually a semi valid worry.
Well that & you basically give the company your DNA without any specifics on what they can actually do with it down the line. You know, like Jurassic Park. Lol now there’s a conspiracy theory for you.

I do agree that if the government wanted our dna, they could get it.
I was just saying that I'm not adding to a tidy database rich for the picking.

I wanted to tell my Financial Adviser when I met with her last week that I'd give all the gains back if it would undo all the horror of this administration and this new GOP. But instead I asked her to get me out of all funds that invested in private prisons and detention centers/camps and kept the rest of my thoughts to myself.
I love all of you who speak so articulately in unspeakable circumstances. I love you and stand with you. There are some amazing women here and I take comfort in that.
Not to derail the topic here, but the statements from KAC have me wondering what her husband thinks today. Having been a loud critic of Trump and describing him unequivocally as a racist.... how does he not see his own wife in the same light? I think today feels different than her just being a combative bitch with the media and repeating his bs with a megaphone. I guess I am surprised Trump hasn’t told George to go back to his country too. From what I know he is also the child of one native born American and one immigrant, just like AOC.

*We* shouldn’t but...I mean they are US citizens according to our laws & agreements. But apparently some people skipped that day in civics class

German mayor of Trump's grandfather's hometown says seeing 'homes of his ancestors might bring him back to earth'
By Aris Folley - 07/16/19 04:17 PM EDT
The mayor of Kallstadt, Germany, where President Trump’s grandfather was born and raised prior to his migration to the United States, said the president could stand to learn a few things about his own ancestral roots in the wake of his recent attacks on four lawmakers of color.
“Seeing the not-so-imposing homes of his ancestors might bring him back to earth,” Thomas Jaworek, the conservative mayor of Kallstadt, told The Washington Post in an interview released Tuesday. Jaworek added that although he is not keen on extending an invitation to the president to visit Kallstadt, he thinks Trump's views on immigration could change a great deal if he visited the village.
According to the Post, while the town has become a tourist attraction over the years thanks to its famed wineries, the small village was once a place of economic depression.
Cornelia Seidl, who previously served under Germany's Social Democratic Party, told the Post that many residents in Kallstadt around the time Trump’s grandfather departed also left because of the economic state of the village in the late 1800s.
Seidl said that “things just weren’t going too well economically at the time.” ** According to the Post, many Kallstadt citizens say the controversy has only brought more embarrassment to the village given its ties to the Trump family.
One local business owner told the paper, "It's sad that this man has origins here. It almost makes me personally ashamed."
dt's grandfather was also a draft dodger!! He left Germany to come here.... After was here he went back and wanted to stay in Germany, but they said no, he had not served during WWI I think....... my facts maybe wrong but it is in essence close to right...........

Next comes “Show me your papers.” This is horrifying. Nazis in 2019. Yep, all she needs is a swastika.
My father is a proud American citizen who was born in Mexico. He speaks English fluently but still has an accent. He works in construction in an area that is rumored to be a target of ICE raids.
I feel sick with worry that he will he told to prove he belongs in the country he loves. The country he chose as his own.
My obviously caucasian husband thinks showing papers is no big deal "if you belong here". He doesn't understand how utterly hateful it is to imply that people of color must prove we belong.
My mother in law asked me for years what part of Mexico my (not Mexican by birth or ancestry) mother was from; she was born in Colorado. My maternal family's roots predate the Mayflower. But hey. She couldn't have been American, right? I mean, not really. That's the point of the question, isn't it? To point out the "otherness" and obliquely imply that certain people don't belong here?
I am scared. Legitimately frightened for what is happening in this country. Between the ICE raids, and Trump and Kelly Anne Conway's comments, I feel like we are at a tipping point.
He has friends in the wrong places, or could be the next target because of random new hurdle placed to overcome. Brown skin today, who knows the target(s) tomorrow. Quick, Mr. inkedup, show me your proof you belong here. Now, quickly before we have you thrown out!
I'm not picking on your hubby per se, but I don't get how treating some citizens differently with the "prove you belong here" bullshit just by looks is ok with anyone.
I always remember a Star Trek episode I saw where they were on another planet of human-like people that were literally black on one side of their face, white on the other. Think game day football fans that paint their face. That stark. They were warring among themselves and the Star Trek gang couldn't figure out why.
In the end it was because they were fighting each other because the black/white was reversed on the opposing "races". Literally black/white fighting white/black. It was that ridiculous, yet here we are.
A lot of people like Trump because their stocks are doing well.

that's what I said to a white someone I know when they were ok with trump because they were "making money" that they could help send their adopted black children to college. And were considering a rural college that more than one kid I know left because of bigotry and racism there. another "baffling" for me.

😭😢😭😔😫
😭😢
Please relax a bit.... Things are not going so well right now, but hopefully with a new day it will get better! All conservatives are not bad people. Many many people are fighting for your kids, family as we fight for our own. You have perfectly good sense, you are not a bumbling fool by any stretch of the imagination!
Here’s where I stand with my “conservative friends who don’t support Donald Trump.”
IF YOU’RE NOT AGAINST HIM, YOU’RE WITH HIM.
I’m not asking you to put on a pink pussy hat and protest in front of your state house.
I’m not asking you to join the ACLU or donate to AOC’s campaign.
I’m not asking you to change your core beliefs (UNLESS they are racist, cruel or infringe upon basic human rights).
But I am asking you to have COURAGE and stand against the HORRIFIC positions of Donald Trump. You can do that and STILL be a conservative.
Let me help you....
“I believe we need a much stronger immigration policy, but I DO NOT SUPPORT the separating of families or the incarceration of refugees (adults or children) in overcrowded cages. I believe any one held in ANY country for ANY reason should be afforded basic human rights—like enough room to lay down and sleep—even if it’s on the floor.”
“I do not support the far-left views of AOC and three other congresswomen recently attacked by Donald Trump. But they are United States Citizens and should never have been told to go back where they came from. I do not support racial discrimination in any form.”
“I support Donald Trump’s right to appoint the people he chooses as cabinet members, judges and heads of departments, and I hope he chooses people with conservative views like mine. But I WILL NOT support racists, sexual predators or outright crooks. Period.”
“I am open to the idea of talks with foreign heads of state, but the president should NOT embrace regimes that not only deny basic human rights, but torture and murder those who speak against them.”
And here’s the big one. It’s not enough to SAY you don’t support Donald Trump. You have a chance, RIGHT NOW, to show you don’t support him by supporting someone ELSE for president. Say it with me:
“There are MANY, MANY honest, intelligent and compassionate conservatives out there and I am ACTIVELY supporting one to run against Donald Trump for president. If I really care about the issues that are important to me, I will understand that Donald Trump is actually doing more harm than good. I want a president that will buckle down and get to work passing laws and creating policies I believe in, rather than CONSTANTLY being involved in outrageous scandals that are doing nothing but distracting from the work that needs to be done. I understand that most of the “bold” measures the president is taking are unconstitutional and likely to be overturned, and I would rather have a president that is willing to DO THE DIFFICULT WORK IT TAKES to change things the right (and lasting) way.”
It’s REALLY NOT HARD. You CAN maintain your conservative views and human decency at the same time. Trust me—the above statements IN NO WAY make you even close to a liberal or socialist. But your SILENCE says everything. If you are not LOUDLY against him—you are with him. And that says it all...
