I checked Ali's DD products this year and there is absolutely nothing I have to have. A Christmas miracle. So nice to see you in here, @millefeuilles! Been waitin' for you, gurl. Are you joining us for some December documenting later this year? Maybe just a mini? A digital book? Come on, let me tempt you...

My favorite Hallmark movie is still The Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Henry Winkler. That is one I actually sit down to watch. Great discussion starter, cheezitgirl! My fave Hallmark Christmas movies are the contract romances. I still love-love-LOVE Snow Bride from 2013. Mistletoe Promise is a close second. I'll work hard on getting my hands on Christmas In Rome and Write Before Christmas from this year's release. We don't have the Hallmark Channel over here so I have the make some Internet magic happen to watch them. Anyone got some early 2019 faves from the preview video they posted?

I did some stamping and die cutting this morning. The images that are colored in are from a few nights ago. The uncolored images will be colored in to match each layout.

I like it, but too small for me. I wish this were the design on the 3x8 album.

"Hitched for the Holidays" was my favorite, although this will only be our 3rd year tuning in and awaiting the new releases. I'm not a Hallmark die hard, so I enjoy the ones they show on Lifetime too. For whatever reason, the ones starring old "One Tree Hill" cast are instant favorites. Speaking of holiday movies, have you guys seen the preview for the new Disney+ movie, "Noelle"? I mean. Anna Kendrick + Christmas?! YES!

Having done 3x8 and 4x6. 4x6 is much easier to work with. My 3x8 couldn't fit into an album and I have about the same amount of stuff as my 4x6 albums. This has me considering 4x6 again this year.

Sorry, lots of things going on and something had to give. I think I could be interested into doing a December album this year I wasn't going to do any December documenting, but everything is changing, so maybe I will after all. I just need to find a new way to be creative. And and I will use my stash for sure.

Im thinking I have decided on the 3x8 size. Its mostly just DH and I home for Christmas this year, until atleast the 20th of Dec or so, and I think 6x8 will feel too big. I like the 4x6 size, but Im not a fan of the cover.

Oh my goodness! Here I am thinking it's still Summer and there are 18 pages of thread! I just caught up. There's some good stuff this year. I have enough DD stuff to make like 5 journals but I really love some of the new stuff.
Off to Elle's studio and I have a short list of Ali stuff. I doubt I'll get her kit this year unless there is something I *need*.
I only saw a couple of collections that I liked in the other thread so sigh of relief there.
So glad to be back. I only do DD and travel journals so I don't pop in as often as I'd like.

I need some help...I don't like to prep pages in advance as I very much base my page size choice/layout based on the photo but I found it really hard to complete my albums because, well I don't plan and I run out of steam....so how can I plan ahead but keep a loose format? I've tried watching Ali's videos on how she plans and I've tried doing it her way and it just doesn't work for me.

Clearly, Netflix's algorithm has decided I'm not the romantic kind (and they're kind of right: I only watch cheesy Hallmark stuff during winter) because I have not heard of this movie. At all. Regarding the Hallmark Christmas 2019 movies, I've found a preview presented by the lovely Lacey Chabert (she's such a perfect Hallmark fit and I'm super happy they're continuing to collaborate with her). It's over 40 minutes long (challenging AE's product offer video, there) so get your stash out and start putting together an album kit while watching: um....how can we be talking about the Hallmark Channel and not have a discussion about Cameron Mathison and his abs? Im not saying I would ever cheat on my lovely husband, but if Cameron and his abs came my way, all bets are off. View AttachmentOh yes. Been watching him since he started in All My Children!

I've tried watching Ali's videos on how she plans and I've tried doing it her way and it just doesn't work for me. I am a planner for DD. I make a timeline and get things done ahead of time - though I don't normally make any pages ahead of time. I mainly do this so I am not having to spend a ton of money at the last minute so I will be ready come Dec 1. Last year I planned so much and then my dad got diagnosed with cancer the first week of December and shot all my plans to hell. This year, I *will*make it happen. Here's my schedule for myself for this year. While it may say ' Oct 15' for something, I usually will take a few days to get that days task done (if that makes sense). September 5 - order any Ali items. Not sure I will order this year, but I want to get it ordered ASAP October 1 - order photo printer supplies (ink & paper) as well as regular printer supplies so I am ready to print come Dec 1. I will also stock up on red line tape and adhesive. October 15 - order digitals that I want to work with and begin recoloring them and playing with them. I will also put the digital files I want to use (from past years) in a folder on my Desktop so I can find them. I have a ton of digitals and its hard to find them if I am in a hurry. November 1 - Lay out my album. I have a bunch of 'set' things every December that I know happens on certain days. Birthdays and concerts, that type of thing. I make a list of 1-31 in a notebook (or in my Notes app) and jot down any plans I know that are happening. I then roughly put in my page protectors of how I want them to potentially be. For instance - I turn 40 on Dec 12 so I know I will want lots of places for photos and journaling so I will add in a bunch of protectors for that day. I try to kind of find a rhythm with the order of my pages. I will also go ahead and stick in any 'for sure' cards, papers that I know I want to use on certain days. I find if I dont do this, I will forget to use cards I have been saving. Also I will unbox everything and pull out any things I want to use from past DD that I have collected. I make a kit to keep on my desk with things I might want to use like stamps, small embellishments, etc. I don't keep a ton on my desk & I want to be intentional about I have out. For me, too many supplies means I get overwhelmed. November 15 - I will make my cover page and a couple of shaker pockets that I can use on slower days. I will also figure out my numbers. I usually try to mix them up but I am thinking this year I might not. By mid November I want to know my plan. I will also buy any Silhouette shapes I want to use. I store the designs I know I want to use in a folder on my Desktop so I can find them easy. I will also make a few pockets and shaped pages that I know I want to have on hand. Over Thanksgiving, I plan on working on the cover of my album. I will go ahead and get the spine labeled. So, while I wont do any pre-pages, I will be constantly doing something to get ready. The closer to Dec 1, the craftier I get and usually that gives me the motivation to go on Dec 1.

Ok so I need to make a decision about whether or not I order an album (+ enough products to hit the shipping threshold) from Ali Edwards or not.
I am inclined to wait for the Felicity Jane albums, but it's tough not knowing what they are yet. For those who have followed FJ in previous years, are the album's always black/white/grey or has she included coloured albums in the past?

Wow, mom, I love the way you’ve created your plan. Seems like things would be totally manageable by the time Dec. 1 rolls around. I’m definitely using some of your ideas. Last year was the first time I completely finished DD. I used a TN and journaled lots of little things that are fun to look back on, but not necessarily scrapbook worthy. I plan on doing the same this year, and already preordered my CD kit.

Wow, mom, I love the way you’ve created your plan. Seems like things would be totally manageable by the time Dec. 1 rolls around. I’m definitely using some of your ideas. Like mom , I pre-plan in a similar way. I figure out which December memories I'm likely going to record + document, write out photo ideas (right down to vertical vs horizontal photos and sometimes even exact sizes), go through papers + embellishments to figure out what could work for each memory and how many options I have/memory, put in my page protectors with labels for each memory (some will feature more photos than others) and then make sure that all I have out is the album and kit with different options when December rolls around. The more you narrow down your stash to create a cohesive kit that offers options for all the different stories you're going to tell, the more prepared you feel and actually are. I love spending time playing around with my embellishments on plain white cardstock, thinking things through. It's a great way to stop over-buying and have a good grasp of what you have and how it can work for your December album. There's of course a leniency margin for changes and impro but if you've got a proper idea of what you're expecting to tell, photograph and embellish, it's so much easier. Good luck, @northrigg and oaksong ! Does anyone feel like they need a group prep session in this thread? We could work together to figure out how to prepare our stash and album in advance if there's a need/interest for it. Let me know!

I've tried watching Ali's videos on how she plans and I've tried doing it her way and it just doesn't work for me. Take what I suggest with a grain of salt because I don't do a rigid DD, just document the whole holiday season. And I don't complete it as its happening, I do it in January. For me, the key to bring able to put it all together is having some elements that will work on every page. Lots of journaling spots, diecut shapes, punchies, enamel dots, phrases stamped and ready to go. If I have to invent each page by scratch, it'll never get done. If I have a whole "kit" that works together, then I can use a formula to assemble, glue, and move on. Mine is : Base paper + photo + journal spot + embellishments Once I have the first 3 down, I can tuck in premade embellishments until I'm satisfied. And having the stamping and die cutting already done means I don't have to pull out inks, make any messes, or clean any messes.

I did some stamping and die cutting this morning. The images that are colored in are from a few nights ago. The uncolored images will be colored in to match each layout. Looking great, LavenderLayoutLady. Your black and white tartan print trees are speaking to my minimalist aesthetic soul! I feel like 3x8 is actually smaller than 4x6. I feel like 4x6 holds more. This is a totally unscientific claim, ha. I can definitely fit more photos in one of Ali's 4x6 albums than the smaller-ringed 3x8. The only downside is that a vertical 4x6 photo inserted sideways in the 4x6 album looks odd whereas I find a horizontal 3x8 less upsetting to the eye. I think I could be interested into doing a December album this year I wasn't going to do any December documenting, but everything is changing, so maybe I will after all. I just need to find a new way to be creative. And and I will use my stash for sure. One of us, one of us, one of us! It looks like quite a few December documenters are going to be shopping their stash this year so you're on trend, copine de moi. I hope the life changes aren't too rough and that you'll soon figure out some creative time. Im thinking I have decided on the 3x8 size. Its mostly just DH and I home for Christmas this year, until atleast the 20th of Dec or so, and I think 6x8 will feel too big. Glad to hear you've found a format that will work for this transition year. Are you ordering covers, working with a 3x8 in your stash or buying the olive dark green one from Ali?

The latest blog post on AE website has some sneaks of pricing, which has been increased. And international shipping is now $20US flat rate. I think that's just made my decision for me about whether or not I will be ordering anything from her

Internationals used to have shipping included for a mini kit just a couple years back. Gah, Kelly Purkey, an independent designer and store, has a $15 flat rate for world shipping. Seriously.

Last year it went up to 15$ flat rate, and because I only wanted a few small things I ended up not buying anything. Just one year later and the shipping goes up another 5$, I seriously doubt I will be buying anything now.

Damn, 15 for those plastic envelopes. 26.99 for a 6x8 album. Couldn’t I buy a 9x12 for just a few bucks more!? How much are the SS ones? Yikes, I wasn’t tempted by them anyway, but they are super spendy.
I feel for you internationals. Unless you ordered a ton or overpriced and heavy items it wouldn’t be worth the 20. I hope some other companies have stuff you like and more reasonable rates.

AE DD albums have increased in price. Beware!
6x8 = US$26.99 3x8 = US$21.99 4x6 = US$19.99
Other things we already know the price of because of the blog post:
3 plastic envelopes (bundle of 6x8, 3x8 and 4x6) = US$14.99 6x8 stamps = US$24.99 (unchanged)

I'll order it from a French vendor and add a couple of much-needed things to meet the minimum threshold for free shipping. I'm so grateful there is a second option to choose from these days.

Hmm. The pricing is definately outrageous - especially when other products that are the same exact item, just in a different color, are cheaper. So we get to pay more because its DD? Awesome. I also saw she is already practically telling us the site will be down when we try to check out. And we still have the headache that items will be 'stolen' out of your cart unless you check out right away?
I wonder if there will be free shipping after a certain amount? I dont recall reading about it.
Seriously. What is appealing about buying from Ali? Its looking like I am going to have to rethink buying anything from her.
On another note, why is she waiting so damn long to reveal the actual kits? Makes me think they suck + are outrageously priced. Again.

40 movies this year is absolutely crazy. WHAT?! That's a LOT. I think they only had 22 or so last year. wow. Eventually they may need their own Christmas-love-all-the-time channel. ETA: I clearly stepped away from my laptop at the wrong time this weekend - you all have been very busy chatting! I have multiple pages to catch up on...

I know the China tariffs are affecting everything, but it feels like they’re passing the entire cost to the customer. It sounds like there are fewer albums to go around as well. Are they trying to control demand with pricing? Or also increasing pricing to cover shortfall? Regardless: It’s just up to us customers to deal with it. 😐
