sleepingbooty did I miss our assignment for this weekend or are you slacking off? ROFL She's probably still out enjoying her adult beverages on this Saturday night 😂 Maybe she's been out since last night! Ha! I hope so!! She better drink one (or two) for me!

I got my FJ order yesterday. It was my first time ordering from FJ and a couple items were the wrong ones. Instead of the Noël chipboard accents and Noël girl stamp I received the Noël puffy word stickers and the Noël stamp set. The rest of the items I ordered (and there were more than a few...) look like they will be fun to use and will compliment a lot of papers and styles. I really like the Rebekah stuff I got—but admittedly, I’m a sucker for leopard print.
Anyone have experience with FJ customer service? I’m going to email today about the incorrect items that I received. I’d like to still get the chipboard accents and the Noël girl stamp, but the world won’t end if I don’t.

It is only 2 or 3 pages, you could easily razor them out if you think they would be a problem. I love the book so much. Mine is the first one, I am going to look for the sequel. That's true, I could just remove the pages. The book nerd in me cries at that idea, but it's probably worth it to get to read the book. I'll ask my brother what he thinks. I'm going to ask for the sequel for my stocking. I have the Secrets of the Gnomes (sequel) at home right now - I could take pictures of some of the boobies pages if you wanted to show your brother what they're like It's the kind of thing we grown-ups probably make more of a big deal about than we need to, but it's also a different world than it was when we were kiddos, so -shrug- I don't know. I totally get why it's different when you're giving to someone else's kid. But I'm also a bad auntie, so, yeah... IDK.

I ordered a plain Creme Brûlée 6x8 album from SC. My plan is to put a sequined patch of some kind on it to Christmas it up.
Of course, in true Inked fashion, it came missing the page protectors. So ridiculous. I started a convo.

FJ customer service is really just the owner, Jenna. I’ve dealt with her via email before and she has always made things right. I will be honest - I’m not that impressed with what I ordered - mainly I don’t like the red she used. 😂 I think I’d like things more if I was doing 6*8 (I was hoping I could use the dividers easily without punching new holes. I didn’t think that through when I bought them). Anyway, I always love FJ papers and usually will order 2-3 months worth at a time to save on shipping. Very rarely do I ever order an actual kit. I pick and choose what I want as she always has items in the store.

It was funny when I opened the box. I saw the Christmas stamps and thought “did I order these? These don’t look like something I would’ve ordered.” The only paper I got was the Rebekah 6x6. I need more 12x12 paper like I need another hole in my head so I’m trying to stay away. Of course that same rule doesn’t apply to embellishments or stamps. I like the Noël stuff I got but there isn’t much red because the items are all small. I got tags and photo corners and other small items. Instead of the Noël die cuts, I got the Joy ones.

I have to be honest - as much as I LOVE FJ stuff, her Christmas lines usually disappoint me. I feel like she does so, so good the rest of the year and then blows the Christmas line every year. Usually I hate the pink, but this year there is no pink (yay!) but the red and greens are weird. I also don't like her 'whimsical' take this year. It feels like Cocoa Daisy to me. I love FJ for clean lines, florals and scallops, lol.

FOUR weekends left until December, m'ladies! Shoutout to mom and nicolep for tagging yours truly AKA sleepingboozy. Every weekend until December starts, this thread will post a couple of prep challenges for you to get ready in time for "the big month." For those wanting to document through the month, this prep can be a matter of DD/JYC survival. If you've done this month-long project before, you know what I mean. For anyone else, it's a great way to not get overwhelmed after the fact if you're documenting your December 2019 memories next year. Challenge 3: Expelliarmus! Oh, you heard me right (don't give me that look )... This weekend, we're disarming our Christmas kit. You've been adding stuff and curating this perfect little kit but the truth is, there's something (or a few things) in there you're unsure of. It's time to get serious and take out what you're hesitant about and just aren't really feeling. Don't put them all the way back in your stash just yet. Set them aside in a separate little box that you can easily reach for later on just in case. But get real with yourself, your aesthetic, your colour scheme and your ambitions. Focus on what you love and works together for you and just set aside the meh-sies, the I-paid-for-this-so-I-guess-ies. You can always weave them back in later if needed. For right now, let's not let these clutter up our pile of pure goodness. Challenge 4: Cheat day! Actively prep something in advance for your December documenting. Get down to business and push yourself to the limit for this. I know, I know, it isn't actually December yet. How dare I tell you to already make something? Trust me. There's stuff you can get over with right now to avoid feeling overwhelmed later on. Shaker pocket(s), journaling down a family Christmas tradition or childhood memory (especially if you're open to being a little more Journal Your Christmas than "pure" December Daily), making a card or page with your go-to Christmas music playlist, a spread about your family Christmas card this year (I'm assuming the photos are done and the prints either already ordered or in the process of), the Advent calendars you've elected for your household, documenting something you made to give away as a Christmas gift, etc. Get down to business and do as much for that one thing as you are comfortable. Think Nike (just do it)!

I can't believe I'm posting stuff at 6 in the morning on a Sunday but hey, since I was away for a couple of days, I'm trying to catch up before we leave for an early beach run (what was I thinking?) and breakfast by the sea (better thinking). The gnomes at IKEA are very reasonably priced from what I saw in store. I would rather pick them out myself than have them delivered if possible because of the hat situation (some are a little squished). Overall though, great stuffing, good beany butt situation (on the tall and the small-sized ones). They just weren't my style so I didn't buy any. I thought the cabin in the forest glass dome was overpriced. They cost 22,99€ (around US$24) over here. I bought a similar product with some trees and a deer in a similar size (slightly larger, actually) for around 7€ from Hema last year. It also lights up. I don't get why I'd pay this much more for IKEA's cabin version but that's just me. It's very cute, however. If it goes on sale in January, I might consider it. There's also gnome wrapping paper in the Haslust (yes, I laughed) range which has several Christmas prints on brown kraft (made in the UK) and is sold for 1,49€ (about US$1.50) over here. I snapped a photo for you ladies:

Joanns has tons of those faceless gnomes y’all like so much. I was too busy buying all the Nightmare Christmas fabric to pay much attention to them, but they definitely had tons of them. For those of you without an IKEA near by, it might be an alternative if you are looking for creepy (sorry!) faceless gnomes!

I am having major regret not buying a new album this year. I was going to use one from my stash, but it just doesn’t go with the vibe I am going for. Wah!!! My choices are limited now. More Wah! I should have picked up a FJ one during the sale.

Think Nike (just do it)! I like this idea for making a couple of pages ahead that are kind of checklist or bucket list pages! They could be very useful for actually remembering to do the things you like/want to do and you could pop them in where you have a gap once the album gets going or just have them as extras if you end up with a page for every day. A good way to get into the groove I'm thinking I'd want checklists for: - movies to watch, songs or albums to listen to - treats to indulge in, recipes to try - events/outings that I might not make time for if I just wing it This is my season for pulling out the albums/journals from the past couple of years, reading the notes to self I put in them, making a list of things I can do early or things I'm liable to forget I have to do until I'm in the thick of things, etc. Helpful whether or not I make an actual album this year. I made a note to start on my Xmas photo calendars early this year. Even if Liz T/Paislee Press hasn't released the calendar files yet I can choose the 13 photos I need for each calendar now, make sure they're edited and in a folder, ready to drag and drop. And I have a note to get the ones I send overseas printed and ready to go BEFORE Thanksgiving this year. I could have them done, wrapped, and packaged the day after Liz releases the files! Wouldn't that be brilliant? (Not saying that will actually happen. But it could! I haven't even checked to see if she has the files done already - just realized I don't follow her or any of her people on IG anymore. I think she usually has them ready in early Nov)

Also, I've been spending too much time looking at Creative Market and there are some *gorgeous* things out there. They all cost though. I'm tempted to buy this set just for the cat in the sock:
This map creator reminds me of Crate Paper, I think? Lots of useable things here, and a cute advent calendar:

I got busy sorting and thinning out my DD stash for this year. I was able to pull somethings out that I am for sure not going to use. I have gotten everything to fit in my Christmas fabric bucket ( similar to this, but in a red and white polka dot pattern)I I am sure I still have too much pulled out but for now I am happy. The only area I am not sure about, really, is what transparencies I want to use. I was able to go through my stash and find some trims so I didn't even have to buy any more of those. I even made some progress on #2 of sleepingbooty 's challenges. I made a fold out page (all that it needs is photos and pattern paper), made a tag fold out for photos and hidden journaling (all it needs is photos and journaling) and made a shaker divider. Not thrilled with the shaker divider so I may change that later, but we will see.

Listen up, peas!
Kroger has the wine advent calendar now. They sold out quickly last year.
Aldi will have the wine, cheese, and beer on Wednesday. Last year our store sold out as soon as they opened so I’m going early to wait before they open like I did at the DMV last week.
I train for Disney so I got this.

Found a printable calendar some of you might like? it's from here. I really like that one! Thanks for posting. This is a lot for one cat. It's an amazing set though and comes with a lot -- even 3X4 cards it seems. Yes! You are killing me with these. I used a map like that in my book last year. But I think it was from an ad, maybe Target catalog? Man, I was excited to find a Nightmare Before Christmas sock advent calendar again this year, now I feel like I need a wine one too! Both Aldi and Kroger have a wine calendar. It's time I do something for myself! So I did get the Kroger one. It was $80 where the one's at Aldi will be $70 but I didn't want to risk not having one at all. I'm really excited for this. I'm going to keep the box to use for a future DIY advent calendar. Maybe a beer one for my husband. It's pretty big.

It looks like Lindt are no longer doing their "boring" Advent calendar that only has basic milk chocolate shapes, no filling whatsoever? It's becoming more and more difficult each year to find a palm oil-free chocolate Advent calendar with decent-ish chocolate at the local supermarket. *pouts*

Not thrilled with the shaker divider so I may change that later, but we will see. Woohoo, mom! You are putting us all to shame... But what's wrong with the shaker divider? Not quite your 2019 DD groove? Quoting myself to say, the Paislee Press photo calendar templates are already available! Girl, where ya been? They've been out for three weeks. I'm so impatient to see her 3x4 and 4x6 versions of it (which I will, of course, be buying). Always such a classy and clean design. You can't go wrong with Liz's calendars. Looks like you'll be ready to mail yours out before the month ends, woot woot! Ok, they are adorably creepy and EVERYWHERE. I'm still baffled they've become such a Christmas aesthetic phenomenon. Did I miss some pop culture story that propelled them all of a sudden? I feel like something's missing to my (lack of) understanding of the faceless, limbless gnome trend. Was there some US story à la elf on the shelf (oh yes, Americans, that's so not a thing in my nook of the world) that I missed? They've even taken over the cheap Christmas décor stuff on AliExpress this year. I like this idea for making a couple of pages ahead that are kind of checklist or bucket list pages! They could be very useful for actually remembering to do the things you like/want to do and you could pop them in where you have a gap once the album gets going or just have them as extras if you end up with a page for every day. A good way to get into the groove Yes, I'm all about using the DD/JYC project as a way to enjoy this dark, moody and gloomy season in the best way possible! I was so expecting to see Hallmark Christmas movie talk happening in here but alas, you ladies have let me down. I've had to get my grubby hands on these movies blindly, hoping it turns out ok. I'm counting on you for reviews if you're watching them! I also still need to buy the supplies that are in my sb.com cart but I know that as soon as I do I will need something else. Cycle of the scrapbooker's life: there will *always* be something shiny and new you need as soon as you've placed your order. Gotta just take the plunge and go for it at some point. Set a date limit and stick to it. You can blame me when you realise you want something else just after ordering what's in your cart... I was too busy buying all the Nightmare Christmas fabric to pay much attention to them, but they definitely had tons of them. Talk to me about this Nightmare Before Christmas fabric... Are you going to cover your December album with it?

I am such a ding bat . My very small FJ order arrived today. I ordered mostly because I wanted the puffy stickers (yeah the wreath and gnome got me).. ...so I threw these in my cart felicityjane.com/collections/_-noel-_/products/essentials-acetate-pop-insbut since they hadn't arrived this weekend and I was working on a pocket to store wish lists ....I created my own pop-in and they were SUPER EASY to make!!! SMH for wasting $4 I'm keeping a running list of what I am using this year vs what I bought to try and "sober me up" next year when DD purchasing swings around, because goodness knows I needed nothing to make my album.....so far I'm mostly using CP Merry Days/Snowflake, FYC and some Paislee Press stuff.
