snoring...IN a stall, ON the toilet, pants around ankles.
Would you just go on about your Target shopping business? Tell an employee? Knock on the stall door to check their welfare? Burst out in a rousing version of “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain” to see if she wakes up?
Guess what I did!

How do you know this person is sleeping? Snores? Talking in their sleep? I need more info.

Was the person snoring? Or were you peeking to know what was going on?

I'd continue shopping.
If someone is that exhausted, then let her sleep.

I bet it was an employee, and I bet you chose the singing option.

I'd have a giggle, and leave her to her snooze. My guess is that you did the same.

If they were snoring, you know they're alive at least.
I don't really know what I would do, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's someone with undiagnosed sleep apnea. A coworker of mine says that before she was diagnosed, she'd fall asleep at stop lights.

I might be inclined to yell "FIRE"... Just kidding!
I'd yell "SNAKE"...then run. Fast.

I might make some noise so I could wake them up. If that happened to be an employee or a mom who needed to pick her kid up from school on time, waking up might be pretty important. I wouldn't do anything beyond that though.

Only sleeping? Could be worse... LOL I passed out on the toilet once and woke up with my pants at my ankles (and me on the floor). Thank God I was at home!

LOL. I have no idea what your choice would have been, but I would have made my phone’s alarm go off before I left. Those public restrooms are real echo chambers!

I'd leave them be. I once fell asleep on the Ob/Gyn table while waiting for my doctor to come in. Apparently, they found me that way and let me sleep for a bit before coming back. I had just gotten back from a girls weekend in Vegas and I guess I was more exhausted than I thought.

I would be loud in hopes.of waking them. If that didn't work, I'd tell an associate. I'd worry, that they'd fall off the toilet and hit their head, especially with their pants around their ankles.

I hope you contacted someone. I thought I had heard that heavy snoring can be a sign of an overdose so I looked it up. This is what I read.... "Snoring can be a sign of overdose This means an overdose will cause breathing to slow. Left untreated, the brain struggles to function because of lack of oxygen, blood pressure decreases and the heart rate slows, ultimately leading to cardiac arrest."

My son has narcolepsy. This could be him. I’m trying to decide if checking that the person is ok, or just letting them sleep is the kindest thing to do.
I might do a quick visual if possible to rule out an emergency type situation.

I think I would've gone to the courtesy desk and let them know. I think they'd want to know if someone was sleeping in their bathroom. And I'd be worried about the person.

I would not have done a think except carry on doing what I needed to do then go. Snoring = alive so no need to check any further. And yes, there may be rare occasions when someone snores but is actually dead (because you just KNOW one of the Peas will know someone that happened to) but unlikely enough for me to carry on about my day without a guilty conscience 🙂

Now that I’ve thought about it a bit more, I think I would go back into the adjacent stall and knock on the wall and ask the person if they have some TP they could pass under the divider. I would be so embarrassed if it was me in that situation so waking them up that way would sort of allow them to save face.

Absolutely try to make a lot of noise to wake them up, and if not report to the desk for someone to check on them. My first thought is drug overdose - it seems to happen in public bathrooms a lot these days

i would have went right into the stall to make sure they were asleep and not overdosed
i carry narcan - but it's also possible they were just 'nodded out'
it happens sometimes right after someone uses
snoring makes me think nodding out instead of overdose
i'd risk any embarrassment to make sure someone made it out of that bathroom alive

I did leave them be. But Sue’s answer has me worried. Sue made a fair point but at the same time, I suspect that someone who went into the Target bathroom to do drugs would not have pulled their pants down first.
