My daughter and I were talking about how we would handle being quarantined. We live in the Midwest and have had our fair share of blizzards, so we know how to hunker down for a few days. But 21 days? I estimate we'd watch the "Sherlock" series about 7 times. We decided we would read, play board games and entertain ourselves--in a surprise move, neither of us mentioned cleaning a thing.
I think we'd actually be OK, save a little stir craziness. We can retreat to our own rooms, we would be able to communicate with everyone. Not sure how we would get fresh food, but either we would get it worked out or not (and have to live on our on-hand food).
How do you think your family/household would fare? Anyone BTDT?

I have no idea. Haven't thought that far ahead. I'll start thinking about it if it spreads.

I haven't but I imagine the stir craziness would be the worst thing. We could live on the food I have in or fresh could be brought to the end of the drive or something. We can communicate.....yes, boredom would probably do my head in more than anything.

I think I would do just fine. I am one of those that appreciates my time alone, and wouldn't look at as a negative (beyond the concern of potential illness.)
And...that would mean that people would deliver food to me. That is always a good thing. LOL

I think I'd do fine. I still scrap, sew, and have several other abandoned hobbies to take back up. I could download new reading material or movies. As far as food, family lives in the area and my mom is a signatory on my checking account so she could shop for me and leave the bags on the door step or in the garage for me to bring in after she is gone. Unless all doors must remain closed at all times.... that would get a bit trickier then.
eta: This is something I have thought of before.. not due to ebola but just being a single person living alone and so many other infectious diseases that would make it prudent for me to stay in under a prolonged period. The internet also means a social life without having to be physically with people. I can play games or chat on message boards like this one.

Seems like some people have the same mindset as we do. It was a casual conversation we had, not something we're worried about or planning for now. I'm just delighted my teen daughter didn't say "Duh, Mom, we'd text and Snapchat all day."

I'd probably go stir crazy after 2 days but it could probably be done. I've got a lot of things to work on and keep me busy. The fresh food thing is easily taken care of through delivery. After the 21st day, I'd need to spend A LOT of time out of the house... like a vacation away from that place. Too much time at home is a horrible horrible thing (I am not designed to be a home body... I need to be out and about all the time).

Honest it would be easy. Annoying but easy. We wouldn't even need anyone to drop off food and supplies. We would be fine on what we have for 21 days. Jen

I'd be fine
plenty to eat here - and fresh can be brought to house like everyone else said
with the internet there are plenty of activities - streaming movies, new books, games, music
except for face to face interaction with other people...life wouldn't change all that much.
I live rurally anyway - so if I were in my house no one would be on our place
so I could go outside without risk of infecting anyone
that means I can ride fourwheelers, fish, do cartwheels on the grass
so ya
this "quarantine" wouldn't be so bad

As long as I had TV, Netflix, my computer and my scrapbook supplies, I'd do just fine.

I would knit and sew and catch up on movies/tv. I wonder if you are under a voluntary quarantine can you go outside, just not have contact with people?
If I could be outside in my own back yard I would love it!
We have enough food to last us maybe at a stretch a week.. so someone would have to provide provisions

Unless I felt completely miserable, or couldn't have internet or cable, being quarantined would be fun. I'd especially enjoy it during the winter, so I wouldn't have to go out in the cold and snow!

I could totally go without leaving the house for 21 days. Now, if my kids couldn't leave either, that would be a different story

I'd make it fine, but I would have serious cabin fever.
We don't get that much snow/ice here, so I'm not used to being forced to stay in my house. A couple of years ago, we have a really bad ice storm and were stuck in the house for 4 days. On that 4th day, we got out and walked to the nearest Tex-Mex place for soup. We had already gone stir crazy and we have PLENTY of things to do around the house to keep us busy.

I'd be fine but my husband would go stir-crazy. Someone would have to being us food though, no way do I ever have enough on hand to last three weeks.

I'm a homebody, so it wouldn't bother me. Of course, that's provided I still have access to the internet.

I would love to be quarantined for 21 days, but not if it meant possible Ebola. I am never home a whole day and love it!

For me it would depend on who I was quarantined with. I can't imagine 21 days unless I am alone. I have enough things to keep me busy. Can I have my dog with me ? She would be my only truly acceptable housemate for that long.

Remove the threat of serious illness, and it sounds wonderful to me. We are deep into football season and DD's play opens in 3 weeks. It's crazy busy here and I'd love some time to just do what I want. But I know b the end of three weeks, I would be going stir crazy and miss out on a lot of events.

I would be just fine! I would love to be able to work on my crafts for days at a time while binge watching shows on Netflix. I have my treadmill to get some exercise in there too. My husband on the other hand would go nuts after a day.
He doesn't understand why I enjoy my quite Sundays at home.

I work from home, so I imagine it would be business as usual (assuming the quarantine was me having to stay at home.) Amazon Fresh could take care of my food needs. It would be kinda of nice not to have to do any travel for work or carpool driving for dd.

I feel so much better now...I started the conversation with DD because I had been thinking "Yeah, I'd enjoy a quarantine" because fall tends to be super busy for us.

I'm a homebody and can easily stay in the house for days. As long as I had Netflix and some drawing/crafting materials, I would be peachy keen and would love the break from reality. OTOH, waiting to find out if I had a deadly illness, may be a bit troubling.

I'm a homebody, but I would go stir crazy with a 21 day quarantine. Two to four days would be OK and if I was allowed outside that would help.
I know for sure we would have to get some gym equipment delivered.

I've worked from home for years. There are times now that I don't leave the house for almost a week. I have things to keep me busy and i could still work. If it's not an airborne thing and they would let me go out in my fenced yard for some fresh air occasionally that would be even better.
Being quarantined with dh might not be the greatest. He'd be going crazy because he would have to shut his business down and that would be a huge loss of income.

As long as food was being brought I'd be fine ... My idea of a good time involves lot's of time on the internet, reading books and watching TV anyway Of course, the dd's would be fighting by the second day which would suck I'd miss my bff but I'd text her
