I like the idea of Pinterest. How does it work though? Do you upload your layout somewhere else, then pin to the 2peas refugees board? Would each member get their own folder or is it just a random jumble of layouts.
Doubt I would use Instagram unless boards were private.
I kind of a lurker, but from my perspective, it would definitely draw people to the board to use Pinterest. It would also increase activity in the scrapbook area of the board with people looking for inspiration.
Pinterest also has an ipad app that is great, it stays logged in.

Throwing an idea out there - I'm a Luddite (aka old school) so I don't know if it would work or not.
What about combining Flickr and Pinterest? We could have albums on Flickr (both for individual refupeas but perhaps also for contests/challenges?) but we could also have a Pinterest board where layouts etc... could be pinned from the Flickr albums?
I think Flickr is easier to use as far as being able to see everything by a specific refupea etc... but I do see the advantages to a Refupea prescence on Pinterest as far as drawing new people in. If there were links to both here? And maybe people could add a link to their personal Flickr album in their signatures?

here is information on group boards on Pinterest you can also go to HELP & vote for improvements to Pinterest. I voted for sub-boards (among other things). that way I can have Scrapping layouts, with sub-boards: dogs, travel, ..... (right now I have about a dozen recipe boards since sub-boards aren't implemented yet.)

I can see how layouts would easily clog up someone's feed on pinterest. Would there be an easy way to manage separate boards? I know you can allow people to pin to your boards if you add their name. It seems like it would be a lot of a work for a moderator at first, but in the long run it would be easier to find pages people are interested in, rather than wading through a bunch of pages.

I haven't gone onto my Flickr acct in maybe a year, so I don't know if I'm remembering correctly - but wasn't there a limit on how much you could upload per month? Like the basic/free acct allowed so many uploads, but more than that and you had to upgrade/pay for an increased acct?

They changed it significantly, a free account now has a terabyte of storage, and no monthly limit on number of uploads/bandwidth.

So.......if we do pinterest and make boards private to keep posts from clogging up the main page, potential new scrappers/new refupea members would not be able to see the posts that are posted to attract them right?
I kind of think doing both pinterest and Flickr might be the death of the gallery once people get tired of going to both sites. But I havent thought that thru yet.
In the end I guess I am more interested in attracting new scrappers becuz it is so sad to see this industry shrinking more and more

I would like a gallery at Pinterest. I never noticed that you could upload directly to that site from your computer so I poked around and it seems really easy. Plus I have a blog where I can upload and pin from if I wanted to. My "P" feed is mostly scrapbooking now so I personally have no issue with clogging anything up plus I'm pretty good at scrolling past things that don't interest me.

I vote Pinterest over IG. I love IG but it may be a pain to refer to inspiring layouts. Plus I'm running out of storage space on my phone. LOL!!

They don't...that's an irritant of mine with a couple of my private boards. I want to hide things from other people, not myself! I wish it was an option to turn on/off.

I like pinterest, but I also don't want my pinterest feed flooded with scrapbook pages.
Also - how would the main pinterest page be organized? (sub-folders?) What I liked the best about the 2peas gallery is that it was searchable (aka...tags). Scrolling through every layout (even though they all will be fabulous) would take more time that I have.
Can you upload photos to pinterest from your computer OR do they all have to be linked from an internet place? I don't often have time to post layouts in a blog...but I do often have time to just upload photos to a gallery.

I really like the combination of Flickr & Pinterest. Maybe for the Pinterest side, have a "layout of the week" as voted for by the refupeas or something like that. That way, the Pinterest feed won't get overtaken by scrapbook layouts (which is fine with me since that's about all I pin anymore ) Flickr can be for all the layouts and we can each vote on which layout should be pinned on Pinterest, or something along these lines. I can't wait to see people's creations again!

Anything happening yet with the results of the vote? Not sure. Admin messaged me on details and I messaged back but never heard anything since. I'm sure she is busy so maybe something will be set up.

Super busy! October is my busiest time of the year at work, and it's been 14 hour days lately, so haven't had much time for the board. I also had to do some work getting other things ready here before we potentially start attracting lots of new members - things that have been on my to-do list anyway, and this was an extra push. I've pretty much got those done today (check out the Current Issues thread) so I'll be able to start looking at the gallery issue in a bit more detail when I next get some free time. Realistically that means I'll come back to you with options next weekend at the earliest (although I'm 99% sure of what I'd like to do) and all being well start setting things up the weekend after. From then work should be calming down for me, so I'll be able to give it more attention, which will definitely be needed in the early days after set-up. As I see it we've managed for the last few months, so I'd rather wait a couple more weeks until I can do it properly than set it up and immediately neglect it until later.
