Well, my hand was forced... I was going to PM everyone and ask to vote on whether to have a chat thread here or in the PMs.
But when I tried to PM, something's glitchy, and you guys don't exist! No PMs for you!
So here we are: gramma, ComplicatedLady, marg, gmcwife1, DawnMcD, cristelina, angel97701, grammadee, teacherlisa, dasmith2, boymom5. Hope we can offer each other support, ask questions and just chat in here!
Any cardmakers in our group? My aim is to make SIX cards this month. Way out of my comfort zone but I need to have some in a stash, and I need to get more comfortable with this.
Does anybody make their own Christmas cards? I do, but I send out less than 50. I usually come up with a design in November and mass produce one, maybe two designs. I could try to do that this month, but it while it would give us lots of points it would detract from any scrapbooking fun for me. See, cards are obviously not my thing
I think I am sticking with sketches for the next couple of weeks - it was a great push for me last month even tho I only completed 12 of them.
Does anyone have goals set or do you just wing it like me?
Has everyone put in a few challenges that speak to their strengths (ie will earn them points)? I'm working on mine!

Thanks for setting up the team chat, kitbop ! And thanks for taking on the team! I make most of the cards we give out. My cards aren't very artful and they don't look very professional, but I like doing them and people have told me they like receiving them. I love making Birthday cards that recognize who will be receiving them. Love a good punny card. I make about 100 Christmas cards a year. About 70 for friends and family and then some exchanges with on line friends. Did the big 2peas exchange two years ago and really enjoyed making and receiving the cards, but not sure I will have the time or energy to create over 100 extra cards this year. Posted my first CARDtober challenge today and have two more to do through the month. Last year I went for the bonus and attempted all the challenges, but again--time and energy... My goal is 31 pages by the end of October. Hoping to get some of them done Thursday/Friday/Monday while my dgs is in school. I am staying with him while his mom attends a weekend conference. Still have to pack for that, and I plan to leave about noon tomorrow. Thinking I will focus on finishing the Back to School photos I have, and I was happy to see the Apple challenge b/c I have pic's of our harvesting apples at the neighbours' a few weeks ago. Could someone post a potato challenge? I also have pic's of a potato festival from August. Think I will actually do some page kits in the morning, with cs, pp, and embellishments all selected and the photos right in the page protector with them. Guess if I forget to pack something I can always finish the pages off when I get home. Linda was kind enough to send me her Word document with all the Sketchtember sketches, so those will help with the page production as well. Have a crop near the end of the month, so looking forward to getting a lot of pages done then as well. Good luck, DIVA's! I hope whether your goals are big or small that you enjoy working toward them. Here's to a crafty month!

For a few years I mass produced one design of Christmas cards, usually with Angels . . . But the last few I've been doing photo cards and giving hand-made cards to close relatives. I may not have a lot of time to share here, or scrap, but I am going to try and finish a bunch of pages I started at my Quick Quotes Private reserve from 2 weeks ago. It was so fun, but now I need to re-size some photos and decided what goes where. I am also anticipating the how the painting of the interior of my home will impact my scrapping time. My craft room will be painted as well as basically the entire interior. They are working on the exterior and decks right now. I leave on Thursday for 3 1/2 days in Las Vegas. My HS reunion will be held there, well because most of us in the lower 48 cannot afford to fly to Kodiak, AK for a reunion so we will party in Vegas baby! I put in my usual challenges that do speak to my strengths, as I like layers and triple of things.

Hi all! I’m excited to be back and joining back with the challenges. The last few months have been more busy for me than I had expected and I got no scrapbooking done. But we are back from vacation and I’m excited to get those pictures done. My goal is to get at least 30 pages done. I’d love to finish up the entire vacation book, but I still haven’t finished our last big vacation from 2 years ago. I’m hoping to be more inspired since it just happened and the memories are fresh.
I used to make my own Christmas cards, both paper and digital that I printed but as I had more kids, I just have been using premade photo cards lately. I’m not sure what I’ll do this year. We didn’t do professional family pictures this year, so a photo card would require I do my own....
I’m hoping I’ll have the time this month to get some focused scrapbooking done. I’m ages behind and need to get caught up! My youngest only has a few pages in his book completed and he will be two in a few months! I’m hoping the challenges inspire me to get going!

Good Morning!
I am hoping to keep up better with the chat and the comments this month. I love it here and am so inspired...but I legit suck at chatting and commenting.
I do usually make my own cards, but do not send many out...and, I have no idea what I am going to do this year with it. I am kinda wanting to go the digital route, but I bought a stamp set that I love...so who knows.

but I legit suck at chatting and commenting. I got so far behind on commenting last month that I gave up because I get this notion that it's "unfair" to skip some layouts and start commenting on the current page! OTOH, I did comment some in the gallery - I found it easier to click through and leave comments there than in the threads on the MB. But then I worry that peas on the MB think I'm ignoring their layouts, when I'm actually enjoying all the inspiration!

[is it okay I post even though I'm on the other team this month?] kitbop teacherlisa - I can't speak for everyone but even though I absolutely LOVE getting comments on my work, I never notice if someone comments on some peoples and not on mine or doesn't comment at all. There's so much shared that it's hard to keep up with commenting. So no worries, okay - just scroll through and see what you can and comment if and when you want to/have time. This is supposed to be fun - not a chore or an obligation

I worry if I accidentally miss someone they might notice and think I didn’t like their work! Happy October everyone! I’m here but off to a slow start! We just got back from a week in San Diego and we are tired from our vacation! My plan this month is Christmas cards. Yes, I love making Christmas cards. I join the card swap here and also make and send to my friends and family. My goal is to make 160+ Christmas cards this year. I feel like I’m behind so far and will have to take stock tomorrow. I love using sketches and this year I really want to use some of my 6x6 paper pads. I’m hoping to work on cards this weekend!

Linda, thanks for popping in, it does feel better to actually hear that people don't notice a "skip" in comments. It's funny because obviously I don't notice it at ALL (I don't go and read the comments in the sharing thread, I only go in to look at the LAYOUTS) so why would other peas (with their notebooks and checklists and magnifying glasses searching for slights!) My goal is to make 160+ Christmas cards this year Good for you! Wow, that's quite an expense if you think of the cardbases and envelopes alone. I know a lot of people think making your own cards is to save money...little do they know what these supplies cost!

So where is everyone this weekend? Anyone taking advantage of the double points today? I noticed your posts boymom5, *love* the mixed media on the fall layout, and the happy day layout - especially how you doodled the hearts in there - awesome! The pictures on the octoberfest/germany layout go so well with the colours and title. For a second, I thought you might live near me because we have the 2nd largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany, and that little character is well known here too I've made a card (!) and am 1/2 way done a layout.

I tried to take advantage of yesterday being card making day, but I’m really slow and do my cards in batches. I also picked a card that had a lot of cutting and matting So I missed out on the bonus points, but I will have some points on the board by the end of the week! I think I will end up with 15 or 16 cards.

Thanks! Yea, those pictures were from Germany for our vacation 2 years ago. We found that little guy outside of one of the shops and the boys couldn't resist stopping! I wish I had scrappy friends close by! None of my friends scrapbook anymore and its lonely! I've been wanting to go to retreats, but there's no one else to go with. I'm so shy that I'm not one to go by myself, especially since the ones I have done that everyone else has a group of friends there already.

Getting a slow start this month, I was in a funk this weekend. I had some testing under anesthesia on Friday, so I think I’m just tired from it. Quite a few appointments and errands this week, so hopefully I’ll still feel up to scrapping. The fall weather is in effect here so I’m loving that, hopefully I can find some fall pics to scrap.

testing under anesthesia on Friday, Another one here that anesthesia really messes with! Last day surgery I had a few years back I was the VERY LAST one still in recovery. They finally brought DH back about 2 1/2 hours in. They basically kicked me out with nausea medication. Lovely right? I have a friend who is an Anesthesiologist and talked with him about it, his comment "Well every time you have anesthesia what else happens to your body?" So his estimation it isn't just the anesthesia but also the procedures that make the nausea kick in too. Our body's wonderful reaction!
I'm another that gave up on commenting last month. When I get super busy and there ends up 5 pages before I have a chance to look I just get overwhelmed! I do like commenting and always appreciate other's comments so I feel bad.
Like others have said I don't have many around here to crop with, so this is like a continuous online crop!
I didn't make any cards on Saturday, but did make lots of memories in Las Vegas. I broke the "no spend" challenge though because there is a brick and mortar LSS store in Vegas not too far from the strip! She carries Scrapbook Customs printed paper for all the local sites! Wahoo! Hoover Dam paper for our tour, Las Vegas die cut and paper, Fremont Street experience paper, Red Rock Canyon paper! I had to have some of all of it! With that said I had not done the Fremont Street Experience yet, so we HAD to go on Saturday evening before the main event of my class reunion. Yes I took lots of photos, but since we went early we had the more tame version, which I am just fine with! LOL
My reunion was great, we had about 145 people from classes 1971-1995 show from Kodiak High School in Alaska. There were about 13 from the 70's. Most of us were 76, 77, 78 so that was pretty cool. Also met younger siblings of my classmates. All around it was fun to be in Las Vegas and see a few sites. DH and I are not drinkers or gamblers so we skipped that part. Really enjoyed the Hoover Dam tour, lovely Art Deco designs planned from the beginning!

angel97701, that sounds like a fun reunion! You are from Alaska, and plan meet ups in Las Vegas? That's so cool! I guess more people are likely to fly in for a fun weekend in Vegas then spend the $$ to go to Alaska (I suspect you can get a cheap plane ticket to Vegas compared to Alaska). I've never been, and don't really have it on my bucket list because we're not gamblers or drinkers or big show attenders... Was it you who posted the challenge to scrap Vegas photos, or is that just happy chance?

angel97701 What a fun reunion! I just had my 20th, but didn't go even though it was close to home. I already keep in touch with my friends from that time, so for me there wasn't an appeal. But if a trip were involved, I may have had some more motivation! I have been getting quite a few pages done this month and I'm determined to get at least this latest vacation done this month! I've been trying to incorporate some PL like pages along with my traditional 12 x 12 pages, but just can't seem to get into it. Still, they seem the easiest way to incorporate a lot of random photos into a book.

Was it you who posted the challenge to scrap Vegas photos, or is that just happy chance? Yes, I am from Kodiak Island, Alaska. This is the second all class reunion, but the first time I have gone. Yes that is the rationale, more people are WAY more likely to go to Las Vegas than fly back to the "rock" as we call it lovingly of course. Our tickets were very cheap, and it was worth it to go a day early and visit Hoover Dam. We took the full Dam tour! We are not drinkers or gamblers either, so DH was a trooper as we did site seeing and people watching. And yes it was me that posted the challenge for Vegas photos! When we were driving around to find something DH wanted to find we also went to a LSS! They still have a LSS, and she carries all kinds of local sites papers (Scrapbook Customs papers!) way fun! So I didn't stay on my spending freeze per the challenge, LOL! Now I need to print my photos!

Now I need to print my photos! This is where I'm failing. I am currently 11 months behind in photos - haven't printed once. Part of that is because my laptop died, and it's gonna take some work to get myself organized (my photos are uploaded on Amazon photo, but I have to re-download them! ugh!). I'm always amazed by people who are printing of current photos. I should catch up, and stay up. Every Christmas for at least 10 years I've made my MIL a family calendar for Christmas. That means I definitely have to find 12 photos to put in it. I'm procrastinating.

And instead I’ve been doing current things since it’s fresh in my mind still. My poor youngest two (really three) kids barely have individual albums. My first two have very full first few years! Sadly I need to find some picture from 2011-2014 that we’re never printed and on some very old computer. Getting a photo printer helped me stay at least current. It may cost more per pic but I have less waste and get them done.

I batch print photos . . . some recent and some from when my boys first came home. I was on the other team last month, but I went to a Quick Quotes retreat at the end of September, so i printed 195 photos to work into those projects. I won't do that next year, because I found that the sizes and themes were very variable. But I have 4 x 6s of DH and I that I do want to scrap in some fashion. They are misc dates and such that might not warrant a layout but work perfect for the two I already have posted for this month. I find that I like to print within the season, so I have layouts I want to work on that are fall or Christmas related. When I am close to the end of the stack I print another batch that is related to the challenges, or my fancy. I've got layouts done . . . three iris storage boxes worth that are not in albums because my albums are chronological. But I do keep a notebook that has a section for each child and a page for each year so I can check to see if I've already scrapped those photos I knew I wanted to scrap our trip to Vegas, and I purposefully took photos of DH and I doing fun things. Hoover Dam also has more of the history and magnificence of the engineering marvel that I will scrap. I bought enough Hoover Dam paper at the LSS to do at least 4 double page layouts. Only enough to do one, maybe two of Vegas, paper for Fremont Street, and one for Red Rock Canyon!

I definitely need organize my photos, I’ve reprinted a lot by mistake 😬 I have a lot to scrap but needs to be gone through first. I enjoyed a trip to Tuesday Morning yesterday so that was fun. I have so many ideas I wish I could scrap 24/7 lol. I have been spending quite a bit of time scrapping so I’m really happy about that. If I can figure out how to organize my supplies better, I would be so much faster!

Did anyone get any crafting done this weekend? I as able to get a few pages done- both traditional and PL style for our vacation book. I am determined to get it done before the end of the month and then circle back around to our last vacation 2 years ago. After those albums I want to get to the kids and family albums. Those just seem so overwhelming since I"m so behind! The boys and I also did a major house cleaning today It had become such a mess that I felt guilt spending time crafting. So now I can get to it during downtime!

I did a tiny bit, and tried to get into my december daily. I'm 3 years behind and want to get 2016 done in the next few weeks. One of my limitations is that I'm not happy with my photos. I need to take more and really find those everyday moments that are the true memories. Actually, this needs to be a mantra for me...take more photos! The boys and I also did a major house cleaning today Ugh, don't get me started. It's kinda like the commenting thread we were chatting about above. The "deep cleaning" needed in the house is so much that I can't even start. OTOH, I did get a new oven range a couple of weeks ago so now I don't have to clean the oven

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving guys! I'll be popping in and out while I cook! We go simple - turkey, stuffing. a family dish called "scalloped corn". squash. mashed potatoes, gravy. asparagus this year for my dad. broccoli. cranberry/orange relish. pumpkin and apple pies (thanks costco). And I am making yorkshire pudding. I know that seems strange, but we ADORE "yorkies" and if I'm making gravy anyways, I figure why not? So we've added them to all our meals that include gravy We've never been vegetable casserole type people - 2 out of 3 of my kids love plain broccoli We don't put marshmallows in our sweet potatoes or anything like that (is that right? I've seen references on TV?) This year we actually got some nice dinner rolls too... but there is so much food, how does one fit a dinner roll in there?

angel97701 But I do keep a notebook that has a section for each child and a page for each year so I can check to see if I've already scrapped those photos I scrap mostly grandkids and I have to have a way to track what I've done. Some are close to us and it's easy to get photos since we attend a lot of their events. Some live a distance away so I have to ask for photos. I track using an excel spreadsheet. Here's a partial sample

Oh my goodness, don't know that much scrapping will be done in the next few days! The painters started the prep for the interior painting of our home. I packed up breakable in my bedroom, and moved a ton of things around. They actually did a lot of the moving of furniture etc. Tomorrow they will paint the ceilings of most of the house. I also emptied my china cabinet, took three stemware boxes from U-Haul, and two packages of foam inserts and three more boxes to empty the top. It was work every penny of the $52 I spent on the specialized packing boxes and material. I don't imagine I will need these boxes again until we move which won't happen for at least 5 more years. I want DS #2 to finish high school here. I am exhausted, so off to bed I go!
