I was 7 when Nixon resigned. My memory might be inadequate.
But imo Nixon at least he had the ‘scruples’? ( is that the right word ) to accept that he was ‘caught’ and cared enough about the country and his party that he did not drag us all through the shit show, so he resigned.
I still think Nixon was an egotistical jerk but I can at least respect that small thing he did for the country.
Who’d have thought

”BREAKING: The lawyer for Trump's former NSA advisor John Bolton says he will not testify "voluntarily," but stands ready to "accept" a subpoena from Democrats.”

Speaking of NSC: Washington (CNN) Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman departed Capitol Hill after dark on Tuesday after spending more than 10 hours detailing his concerns at President Donald Trump's handling of foreign policy. The next morning he returned to his desk as Trump's top Ukraine expert. The swift return to work for one of the impeachment inquiry's central witnesses -- who the President and his allies decried as a "never-Trumper" with ulterior motives, even as he remains on the President's National Security Council staff -- illustrates the predicament facing staffers as the proceedings advance. The impeachment crisis that's consumed the White House is causing new turbulence at the National Security Council, where officials are wondering whether their efforts are being undermined and worry the President could sour on the entire body, ignoring its expert advice as he fumes about its role in the current crisis. Already a bumpy workplace under Trump, the National Security Council's career civil servants now find themselves under fresh scrutiny from an already-skeptical President and his inner circle. Tim Morrison, the council's Russia and Europe director, worked with Vindman in handling the Ukraine transcript and is expected to testify Thursday. But Morrison is expected to leave his post, a long-planned departure that was nonetheless complicated by the current impeachment drama.** Officials who were looking to O'Brien for direction on how to handle the impeachment probe haven't found it, they say. O'Brien has not held any staff-wide meetings to offer encouragement or boost dampened morale. And there has been no instruction to keep their heads down and focus on their jobs -- a popular sentiment inside the West Wing amid the special counsel probe. Despite that, staffers have continued with their work anyway, with some telling colleagues they're eyeing the exits. Already, O'Brien has moved to slash the size of the National Security Council after the President lashed out against perceived leaks. Earlier this month, O'Brien told White House staff he planned to cut council staff by nearly half and increase the percentage of political appointees in the process, sources told CNN.That would likely weaken a staff that was already watered down under Bolton, whose aides insisted he was just streamlining bureaucracy. O'Brien told White House staffers and outside allies that he plans to shrink the National Security Council staff by about 50% by early 2020, reducing total staff numbers through attrition from around 200 people now to a total staff of about 120. Speaking on Fox Business Network after the meeting, O'Brien said the council had "just ballooned to a massive bureaucracy" during the Obama administration. O'Brien did not address his staff until weeks after being tapped for the job, and several officials said few had a clear understanding of his leadership style or how he might interact with those who he did not have a hand in hiring -- uncertainty that complicated day-to-day work for National Security Council staffers. ** www.cnn.com/2019/10/30/politics/national-security-council-donald-trump-impeachment/index.htmlThis is only a small bit from the article. DNI O'Brien appearing on FOX seems to set a pattern. Cut the career staff by 50% an add more political 'yes people' !?!?!

I finally found the article I was looking for.... had it stored away! Ukrainian President and advisers discussed pressure from Trump weeks before taking officeBy Rene Marsh, CNN Updated 9:35 PM ET, Wed October 23, 2019 (CNN)Two weeks before taking office, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team discussed the pressure they were already feeling from the Trump administration and President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to publicly launch investigations that would benefit the US leader, according to a source familiar with discussions at the meeting. The source told CNN that Zelensky and his team specifically mentioned the pressure they were feeling to open "corruption" investigations into Burisma, the Ukrainian natural gas company on whose board former Vice President Joe Biden's son sat.The source said the meeting was originally scheduled to discuss energy issues but the meeting evolved into a discussion on how to handle the pressure from Trump's orbit. Among those present in the May 7 meeting were Zelensky advisers Andriy Yermak and Andriy Bogdan. Also involved were an executive for the Ukrainian state-owned natural gas company and American Amos Hochstein, a former diplomat and energy expert. The Associated Press first reported this story, citing three people familiar with the meeting. The meeting happened about two weeks after Zelensky and Trump spoke for the first time. A White House readout of that call said the two leaders discussed working together to "root out corruption." Trump has said he did not pressure Zelensky to investigate the Bidens. It is not clear whether the President specifically asked for investigations of Ukraine's role in the 2016 election or the energy company that had hired Biden's son, Hunter, to its board. There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either Biden in Ukraine. The President has said the White House would release the call transcript but that has not happened to this point. The White House has released a transcript of a separate call that took place on July 25, in which Trump repeatedly pushed Zelensky to investigate the Bidens. The source said that even in those early weeks, Zelensky and his team realized Ukraine's relationship with the US -- including a potential face-to-face meeting with Trump -- could be at stake if they did not support the continuation of investigations like Burisma. The Ukrainians continued to be sensitive to the issue. Bill Taylor, the top US diplomat in Ukraine, said during congressional testimony this week that a top Ukrainian official told him in July that "President Zelensky did not want to be used as a pawn in a US reelection campaign." During a press conference with Trump in September, Zelensky denied he felt any pressure, adding: "I'm sorry, but I don't want to be involved, to democratic, open elections of the USA."CNN has reached out to members of Zelensky's transition team and government for comment. ** www.cnn.com/2019/10/23/politics/zelensky-trump-pressure-aides/index.htmlZelensky is sitting right next to trump and he is supposed to says dt had pressured him? I don't think so!! He surely knows that he has to deal with dt to get what he needs for his country!

So the FLOTUS can thumb her nose at the American people (“I really don’t care, do you?”), but how dare people express free speech towards the POTUS who spends his day bullying all sorts of people on Twitter? We’re through the looking glass here. Be Best! I think its of the utmost importance the POTUS step out of the bubble of Fox News and his adoring MAGA crowd rallies and realize he is also the “leader” of the rest of the country too. I always felt that she was in it for her slice of fame. Now seeing her put a full candy bar atop the head of a child that was trick-or-treating at the WH (after her assholian husband did it), fully disgusted me. Don't these 2 know how to treat babies and children? (They don't!!!!!) That poor kid had his candy handout from the "President" just fall off of his head. A mom (or helper? not sure) picked it up and put it in his treat bag, and the rest of the kids all opened their treat bags so that they'd be sure to get the candy from our idiot and idiot-wife in office. How revolting. I felt so badly for that child and seeing them both chuckle over this made me sick. No wonder their kids are all fucked up!!!!

What is his problem? Washington (CNN)The heroic dog who helped chase down ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi goes by the name Conan and he'll be making an appearance at the White House soon, President Donald Trump tweeted. Trump on Thursday declassified the name of the US military dog who was injured in the raid against Baghdadi. Trump also shared that Conan, a Belgian Malinois, will be leaving the Middle East next week and then visiting the White House. The Pentagon previously declined to reveal the canine's name to protect his identity. ** www.cnn.com/2019/10/31/politics/conan-dog-baghdadi-raid-trump-white-house/index.htmlOur military elite do not got 'out in public' so to speak. Who is going to take the dog to the WH? Will his/her identity be exposed? No longer able to continue to work? Other owners of a 'Conan' could be in jeopardy when calling their dog by name all over, particularly if the dog is similar in looks, which would also endanger the families too! dt is truly a moran! On Wednesday, Trump shared an edited photo, created by the Daily Wire, that showed him awarding the Medal of Honor to Conan. "Thank you Daily Wire. Very cute recreation, but the 'live' version of Conan will be leaving the Middle East for the White House sometime next week!" Trump tweeted.

I wonder if he is going to serve the dog McDonald's Hamberders?Thank you for the laugh of the day! I wouldn’t be surprised since that’s what he serves all the elite athletes when they come to visit. On a more serious note, his verbal treatment of this service dog makes it clear that he doesn’t view this exquisite animal as the elite member of our military that he is, but instead as just another random dog. Maybe Trump is just jealous because this dog has shown more guts and bravery than he ever has (having dodged military service with multiple deferments).
