Class act, not! President Donald Trump, speaking during a closed-door speech to Republican Party of Florida donors at the state party’s annual Statesman’s Dinner, was in “rare form” Saturday night. ** But the secrecy was key to Trump’s performance, which attendees called “hilarious.” Riding the high of the successful event turnout — and without the pressure of press or cell phones — Trump transformed into a “total comedian,” according to six people who attended the event and spoke afterward to the Miami Herald. He also pulled an unusual move, bringing on stage Army 1st Lt. Clint Lorance and Maj. Mathew Golsteyn, who Trump pardoned last month for cases involving war crimes. Lorance was serving a 19-year sentence for ordering his soldiers shoot at unarmed men in Afghanistan, and Golsteyn was to stand trial for the 2010 extrajudicial killing of a suspected bomb maker. ** More at link: www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/national-politics/article238150139.html

Jim “I knew but did nothing” Jordan
”While Democrats are focused on undoing the 2016 election, President Trump is doing what he said.
Able-bodied adults without dependents should have to work to receive taxpayer money. It gets them off welfare dependency and to a better position in life.”
Republicans really don’t like the poor do they.

Another one wallowing in the swamp at our expense!! A top Department of Health and Human Services official is facing backlash after she asked taxpayers to reimburse her for jewelry and other items stolen with her luggage during a work trip last year. Seema Verma, who heads the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, filed a request to HHS for $47,000 to cover her lost property in August 2018, according to documents obtained by Politico. The items, which included a $5,900 Ivanka Trump-brand pendant and a $325 moisturizer, were allegedly stolen a month earlier from inside an SUV that Verma had rented while visiting San Francisco for work. Verma wrote in the claim that the items were not insured, according to Politico. HHS ultimately reimbursed her $2,852.40, a CMS spokesman told the outlet. HHS has a longstanding policy of paying for certain items lost on work trips, which is why she was partially reimbursed, the spokesman said, adding that the department is prohibited from reimbursing staff for jewelry. “It’s perfectly appropriate that the administrator filed a personal property loss claim for goods stolen while on work travel and this is not an unusual practice for federal employees,” the CMS spokesman told Politico. ** As Politico noted, news of the reimbursement request comes months after the HHS inspector general agreed to investigate Verma’s use of more than $2 million in taxpayer money to hire public relations consultants to boost her public profile.“Does Seema Verma serve the public or does the public serve her?” Jill Burcum, a health care writer for The Star Tribune, tweeted about Verma’s jewelry claim. She also questioned why Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, isn’t investigating the matter. Grassley’s office did not immediately return a request for comment. ** www.huffpost.com/entry/seema-verma-medicare-reimbursement-claim_n_5ded016de4b00563b852bf76?ncid=%20edlinkusaolp00000029

You know, I really have to wonder at this point exactly how those interviews go in this administration. There’s so much fraud & scandal it almost seems a requirement to get hired.
Is it like: “So tell me, if hired, exactly how do you plan to bilk the taxpayers. Extra points for doing it with Trump branded items” ?

Chris Lu.
”#OverlookedStories this past week:
Trump-favored firm gets border wall contract
700,000 to lose food stamps
11 Trump properties had undocumented workers
N. Korea rules out denuclearization
Half of senior U.S. diplomats have left in 2 years
House passes Voting Rights Act”
Fun fact. Only 1 Republican in the House voted for the Voting Rights Act.

Adam Schiff is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. That Committee held its hearings, and released its report to the House Judiciary Committee (Jerry Nadler is the Chairman) which is the Committee holding today's hearings.
I think the question of "where's Adam" is because he wrote the report and is choosing to sit out the Judiciary Committee hearings.

Yes - I’ve been watching this am and he’s not there and it seems like an important day to be there. His staff is presenting the report and I don’t understand why. It’s definitely peaked my interest.

It’s not his committee. I don’t find it odd that he isn’t there. The reason I found it odd was because he was on the list of witnesses - as of yesterday night. He was going to answer questions about his report. Instead he sent his staff. Then today he wasn’t there.
