Caroline Orr.. ”Trump is using his vast fundraising network to reward senators who pledge to have his back on impeachment — and send a message to those who don't. That, um, kinda sounds like bribery.” link
From Politico.. “Trump lures GOP senators on impeachment with cold cash”** Former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter called out President Donald Trump’s latest scheme to shore up Republican support against impeachment as “felony bribery.”The Trump re-election campaign sent out a fundraising appeal Wednesday to its massive email list asking for contributions that would be divided between the president and three vulnerable Republican senators — Colorado’s Cory Gardner, Iowa’s Joni Ernst and North Carolina’s Thom Tillis — that was explicitly tied to his impeachment defense.“If we don’t post strong fundraising numbers,” the request warned, “we won’t be able to defend the President from this baseless Impeachment WITCH HUNT.” Painter, a law professor and ethics czar under former President George W. Bush, said the Trump campaign’s request was clearly illegal, and placed the GOP senators in legal jeopardy, as well. “This is a bribe,” Painter tweeted. “Any other American who offered cash to the jury before a trial would go to prison for felony bribery. But he can get away with it? Criminal.”
Painter said the senators could raise their own campaign funds, and any one of them that accepted the donations from Trump before the impeachment trial was guilty of accepting a bribe. ** www.rawstory.com/2019/10/felony-bribery-ex-bush-ethics-czar-blasts-trumps-latest-impeachment-defense-as-another-criminal-violation/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2844Says it all........ Felony bribery!

”The Impeachment Hoax is hurting our Stock Market. The Do Nothing Democrats don’t care!”
I think I read the market was down because of a different reason. But the bigger question is how many times did trump’s trade war drive the market down? And it was obvious he didn’t care because he kept doing it.

On a more serious note, his verbal treatment of this service dog makes it clear that he doesn’t view this exquisite animal as the elite member of our military that he is, but instead as just another random dog. Maybe Trump is just jealous because this dog has shown more guts and bravery than he ever has (having dodged military service with multiple deferments). dt has a history with animals... When Pence was moving to DC there was a story about he and the family bringing all their pets with them. dt WHY?!?!?!??! I cannot remember the exact quote! dt is a germaphobe, how I have no clue when he dips all over!

Any Senator taking Trump money should be excluded from acting as jurors at his impeachment trial.”

Nate Silver... ”I thought this Kellyanne Conway clip saying Democrats "don't have the votes" for the impeachment inquiry must have been from a few weeks ago. But, nope, it was just this morning!” this is ridiculous!! especially since this vote is pretty much unnecessary- they don't NEED this vote in order to proceed with the impeachment inquiry. There is NO REQUIREMENT to vote on it. This vote is more just to formalize the STEPS they're going to be following in the proceedings from here on out. (and, I think, so Republicans will finally shut the hell up and stop whining about stupid crap like, 'they haven't voted on it' 'it's unconstitutional' etc. etc. etc. )

linkThe Bulwark... “Why Would a Republican Senator Want to Tax College Athletes?”From the article.. “But in 2019, Republicans don’t look at this issue through the lens of markets or freedom or opportunity. Instead they look at it through the lens of white identity politics—the melange of grievance, racial resentment, and outright racism that animates much of Trumpism. And when you score the issue using white identity politics, you understand exactly where Burr is coming from First, the debate came to a head this year because of California’s decision to enact a Fair Pay for Play act. Because the law originated in liberal California, obviously, it must be a bad thing and opposing it has the virtue of making the libs angry. Also, it was supported by famous athletes such Lebron James. Who is liberal, black, and a celebrity elite. Strike two. And finally, the act will overwhelmingly benefit the people of color who make up a disproportionate share of the athletes in revenue sports. Strike three. But there’s more. Burr is playing to the conservative sports fan with student loan debt who didn’t have the ability to earn an athletic scholarship whose grievance is against “them”—the kids who are now getting greedy and trying to make a buck when they should be grateful just for this high-class education “we’re” giving them. And a series of polls make clear that there’s a clear racial component to all of this. The most recent, from Morning Consult, shows a majority of black respondents and a minority of white respondents supporting every potential option when it comes to athlete compensation.” & “There are other reasons that people like Burr say they oppose athlete pay. There are those who are conservative in the most literal sense—averse to change and clinging to tradition or nostalgia for the sports they love. A subset of those would argue that maintaining the system is simply an effort to protect amateurism and not turn college athletics into a semi-pro league. The problem with that argument is that the amateurism ship sailed long ago.”

FYI, I'm listening to Stephen Colbert clips from last night's show on youtube, and he just said that Nancy Pelosi will be a guest on his show tonight; apparently his show is the only show she's appearing on after today's hullabaloo.
I can't wait to see her interview!

Statement from the Press Secretary at the White House about today’s vote...
”The President has done nothing wrong, and the Democrats know it. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats’ unhinged obsession with this illegitimate impeachment proceeding does not hurt President Trump; it hurts the American people. Instead of focusing on pressing issues that impact real families, like reducing gun violence, passing the USMCA, improving healthcare, lowering prescription drug costs, securing our southern border, and modernizing our aging infrastructure, the Democrats are choosing every day to waste time on a sham impeachment—a blatantly partisan attempt to destroy the President.
With today’s vote, Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats have done nothing more than enshrine unacceptable violations of due process into House rules. Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Schiff, and the Democrats conducted secret, behind-closed-door meetings, blocked the Administration from participating, and have now voted to authorize a second round of hearings that still fails to provide any due process whatsoever to the Administration. The Democrats want to render a verdict without giving the Administration a chance to mount a defense. That is unfair, unconstitutional, and fundamentally un-American.”
Last time I checked the Democratic House has passed over 200 bills that address most of the bolded items. These bills have been sent to the Senate where they sit.
My question is what exactly have the Republicans done to address these issues?

And Trump keeps saying ‘do nothing Democrats’ haven’t done it. So his base just eats it up. He could tell them he is king & the constitution says so and they be fine with it As long as it sticks it to the Dems It’s really bizarre how they can be so incapable of critical thinking. The truth is public knowledge but so long as a tweet from Trump says otherwise they don’t care

Tulsi Gabbard (/ˈtʌlsi ˈɡæbərd/; born April 12, 1981) is an American politician and Hawaii Army National Guard major serving as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district. Elected in 2012, she is the first practicing Hindu and the first Samoan-American member of Congress.[1][2] Gabbard's announcement of her intention to seek the Democratic nomination in the 2020 US presidential election made her the first female combat veteran to run for president.[3][4]“
I bring this up because of this.
Ann Coulter ..
”No she didn't. Tulsi is a SENATOR, meaning she's in the SENATE and doesn't vote on HOUSE resolutions.”

I don't know how to copy a tweet, but:
"Trump READ THE TRANSCRIPT!
AOC We did. That is why we opened an impeachment inquiry. "
And just for the record, the transcript itself has not been released. Only the WH summary has been released. The actual transcript is locked in the secret server. So much for transparency.

Todays' vote totaled 232-196, with 2 dems voting against (Van Drew, NJ and Peterson, MN), and one (former) Republican (Amash, MI) voted for Impeachment investigation.
Amash tweeted today:
This President will be in power for only a short time, but excusing his misbehavior will forever tarnish your name. To my Republican colleagues: Step outside your media and social bubble. History will not look kindly on disingenuous, frivolous, and false defenses of this man.
I am shocked that Gabbard voted for the Investigation, considering how many relevant votes she has missed over the last few months (condemning Trumps withdrawal from Syria, objecting to arms sales to Saudi Arabia, etc).

ABC News.. ”Rep. Jim Jordan slams the impeachment inquiry process during House floor debate, urging a “no vote” on the resolution: “Trying to put a ribbon on a sham process doesn’t make it any less of a sham.” abcn.ws/2PB9ByG” Every time this guy opens his mouth all I see is the guy who knew those kids were being sexually abused and did nothing. SAME HERE!!!!!!!!! Beyond that, I have a strong feeling that he not only knew about those kids, but he was one of the abusers. He just looks like a creepy creep. (And why doesn't he feel the need to wear a professional suit jacket in Congress?? What an utter disgrace!)
Boggles my mind that he's in Congress while people like Katie Hill is now out. Granted, it was STUPID to pose naked with a bong. It was STUPID to have a relationship with your staff. If you're going to run for office, then clean up your act!!

it would appear that the Republicans have hit a new low. Yet again.
Sarah Ferris..
“I'm told that Capitol Police is investigating suspicious packages in House office buildings that were dropped off by the NRCC after the impeachment inquiry vote.”
Among those who've received: Spanberger, Fletcher, Schrier, Lamb”
”Also Wexton, McAdams.
The packages were sealed with a bow on them, with a note that said "get packing." Multiple people said they looked menacing.”
“Gottheimer too.
One office tells me that Cap Police opened the box, and found it empty. But officers are coming back for it as evidence.
Also it was not actually a moving box, just a Post Office box..”
“Apparently NRCC folks took the flat boxes (and bows) through security then assembled them in the Capitol.”
Walter Shaub...
”Apparently, boo-ing a president at a baseball game is uncivil but delivering what could look like a bomb to your rivals is considered fair game by the National Republican Congressional Committee. (That is not fair game. Do not do that, people.)”

Oversight Committee Republicans...
“Democrats don't care about the facts or passing legislation. They only care about impeaching the President less than 13 months before an election.
The American people see right through @repadamschiff's sham #impeachment process.
It's time to move on.”
You know really, if you are a conservative you really should be ashamed of what “your” representatives are doing in DC.

A step in the right direction! The State Department has agreed to turn over a cache of records featuring communications from President Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, on matters related to Ukraine, according to a joint status report filed in court late Wednesday. The agreement comes a little over a week after a federal judge ordered the State Department to begin turning over documents related to Giuliani's communications with top State officials. The ruling came in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by American Oversight, an ethics watchdog group. The judge ruled that the department had 30 days to turn over the documents, but that both parties needed to meet to narrow the scope of American Oversight's request. The State Department is agreeing to search for records related to external communications between Giuliani, his associates Victoria Toensing and Joseph diGenova and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to the status report released Wednesday. The report says that "to the extent responsive records exist" the State Department will "process and produce" the documents "with appropriate redactions" by Nov. 22. ** Austin Evers, executive director at American Oversight, said in a statement last week that the court order was "an important victory for the American people’s right to know the facts about Ukraine." "While it is too early to say whether the State Department will ultimately meet the court’s order in letter and spirit, negotiations have begun in good faith," Evers said following the agreement. "The Trump administration would do well to treat congressional subpoenas with the same approach rather than trying to sustain a failing strategy of total obstruction."** Lots more at the link: thehill.com/homenews/administration/468382-state-department-agrees-to-release-documents-on-giulianiPapers and notes about Yovanovitch and more!
