Third time in 6 years.
I would have preferred it to be the Rangers, but this is second best! And the rest of my family is happy!

There are oceans of tears tonight in Tampa. signed, the tag along fan (my friends are all sending their wailing and gnashing of teeth texts via group texts and I may have to turn my phone off ) ETA: Please note my new title, pretty funny for a girl who lives a hop, skip and jump away from the beach. ETAx2: re: the first ETA, last night my title changed to something like Mile High Pea for a post or two.

Congrats to the Hawks fans. Not who I wanted to win but they were the best team. I am not a Bolts fan but I am a Brendan Morrow fan. I really want Brendan to win a cup. I heard the commentators say that the Bolts only have one UFA so most of their team will be back next season. But, I will then be back to Go Stars!! LOL

I don't even normally watch hockey but tuned in to see if they could win it at home. Good for them.

DAMN IT I WANTED A GAME SEVEN We were kind of hoping for that too. Congrats Chicago fans! I loved the handshake line at the end of the game - classy way to end the season.

All the kids on my block are banging pots and pans outside and I hear fireworks everywhere. It's fun.

So, is anyone else tired of hearing Bettman booed every time he speaks? I don't like Gary Bettman at all but I really don't like listening to fans booing him when he is presenting the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smyth. There is a time and place to boo him but when presenting the Stanley Cup is not it. I don't like that anytime someone is being honored.

They cheer when he says Conn Smyth and the Cup. They also cheer when he shuts up and presents it.

So long as he's around, there will be booing. I find it amusing, personally. Anyway, well done, Hawks! Great series all around, but the better team definitely won, and nice for them to get one at home. Glad to see Kimmo Timonen finally hoist the Cup too

I'm a Kings fan so I'm still ticked we sucked so badly this year but I'm happy for the Blackhawks. It's always awesome to see a team win at home and I get so dang teary when the cup is carried around the ice. Congrats!

DAMN IT I WANTED A GAME SEVEN While I can understand that, it is the first time the Hawks have won at home since 1938. Their last three cups have been won on the road. It is nice of them to get a home ice win.

Like I said, I don't like him. I would love to see him replaced. But, I HATE it when fans ruin something when others are being honored. It is a tradition that I wish would end. Boo him when he shows up in your arena and they put him up on the screen and times like that but I find it rude and childish to do it when others are being honored.

I don't care about either team. But the constant circle jerk by the announcers for Chicago really had me rooting for Tampa.

I cracked up when they said the Cup was having problems getting to the arena and that it was getting a police escort.

Very happy for the Hawks. I wish I could've watched the whole game. Sadly I had a mtg so I missed most of the second and all of the third periods.
I do like the Lightning & I would have cheered for them over Anaheim. But I really wanted the Hawks to get this one, partly because of Timmonen and partly just because I like them a lot. I do feel badly for Brendan Morrow. I've always been a big fan of his.

And I have a terrible confession to make: I don't mind Bettman, for two reasons. One, he's doing what the owners want him to do. Two, he's trying to bring the game up in popularity in the US. I love NHL hockey with a missionary/Evangelical zeal. Bettman is doing what he has to do to proselytize to people that they are missing out by not watching the NHL. I can't argue with that. Even though I think it should, I realize NHL hockey won't catch up to the NFL or MLB. I do believe it is attainable to compete with the NBA though... our game is just so much better. If we have to subsidize teams in Florida or Phoenix or wherever until people realize that, so be it!

I blame Bettman for all that is wrong with hockey. The lockouts, the strikes, the CBA, the watering down of talent due to expansion (and he wants to expand more), messing with things that aren't broke, the stupid playoff decisions now. Plus he is fun to hate.
