I enjoy working on a Christmas themed project at Christmastime. Doesn't always work out that I get to do that, but this year it did! I finished this quilt for the grand kids yesterday. It's a panel that I added some piecing to make it larger. I'm including a closeup of the free motion quilting *gulp* so you can see my quilted snowballs.

Love to see all the creativity here!
I'm on a crafting fast until I get the mess in the shared office cleaned up. We really badly need a guest room. Just bought a really large desk that will fit where there is a book shelf right now. The book shelf will go on top of the desk freeing up the space where there is currently a desk. Hopefully we will get a ride a bed from my father in law to go in that space. Then we can pull the bed out to make it into a guest room if needed. HOWEVER, my part of the office is a DISASTER even with stuff removed from the room. So.... self imposed no crafting until the mess is dealt with.
Yesterday I went through all the cards I have stockpiled. These are cards from others for people in my family. I tossed all but one from my parents (want that one for a signature copy that I will use one day). I sorted the kids cards into bins- one for each kid.
Today I will deal with more paper. So.much.paper.

Whoa... As usual, I am astounded at the talent we have here! And as usual, it puts me to shame. I am still chugging along on the damned CAL squares. I *thought* that I was done with them all. Spent an evening weaving in my ends. Then laid them all out to count each group of 4. And I was one short. Well, one group of 4. I REALLY thought that I was done, that I had done this pattern (bonus #6). If I did them, I have no idea where I put them. I kept all of my squares in the bag that the yarn came in. So, I am on 2 of the last 4 of the damned squares. I am seriously losing steam lol Hopefully I will finish them this weekend and will be able to get going on binding

I finished my bigger basket! The basket in my avatar is one I made many years ago and sold in a church art show. I've always regretted letting it go so decided to make myself one to keep. As usual with these types of projects, the second one is not an exact replica but very close and I'm pleased at how it turned out! And case anyone is interested, here are a few "in progress" photos: (getting started. with most baskets you start with the bottom down, turn the stakes up, and start weaving; with this one you weave the first few rows with the bottom facing up and shape the corners into points as you go. i'm not great at shaping baskets so this is the step I was procrastinating on, as mentioned in my other post) (enjoying some wine and football while I weave! weaving is my favorite part) (rimming a basket is my least favorite part) (ETA the last step, filling in the rim gap and lashing) (this type of shape is called a cathead, for obvious reasons!)

Thank you to the Pea that shared Bluprint classes are free this week. I've spent the last two hours watching a fascinating class on Shetland Haps, the pattern is on Ravelry and looks really doable so I've added one to my to make list! That's next years to make list of course

Happy New Year crafty pea people. Loving all the work you have done. I have started a new project of a mini room box as a nursery. Here is a pic of box in it`s first stage of construction. The window has a removable picture (stamped and coloured with Promarker pens. Floorboards (coffee stirrers) are stained then Linseed Oil and wax in several coats to finish. Skirting boards, Dado rails and coving are painted ready to do the wallpaper, which I haven`t bought yet. My Pet shop and Tattoo studio are finished but not in place for taking pics yet. I love the details you've shared about how you've made things. it's so much fun to follow the progress!

Some of the baskets made by true artisans are incredible! Like this one: (link to artists site: brsbasket.com/)

LOVE the baskets! I finished the craft disaster for the most part. My large format cutter is finding a new home with a friend of mine from high school. He's picking it up for his wife on Monday. Hand me downs from my daughter are boxed up to go to a past student for her daughter. Hand me downs from my son are boxed up to go to my cousin for her kiddo. Crib mattress is going to a co-worker who is pregnant. I'm ON IT! This room will be DONE and I can craft again! I NEED to craft! Tomorrow is dealing with the mess on the pool table. I just kinda dumped random stuff that I didn't have a place for on there so I will deal with it all tomorrow. On Monday I will grab some crates from my classroom (they belong to me, not the school) and put them in the closet in the office in the place of the baskets I swiped from my closet today to hold fabrics. Couch from the outlaws should fit in there perfectly! If all goes as planned, I'll be sewing baby shoes on Sunday AFTER I do new seating charts and enter grades for progress reports. Gotta work before I play ya know. LOL

seaexplore I wanted to let you know my mom really loved the wineglasses you made for Christmas. I stopped over on Thursday and she had them all out serving wine to her guests. And it was a perfect compliment to my sister's gift. My sister and I didn't know what the other got her. And my sis bought her etched beer glasses. My mother loved all of them. She loves to entertain.

With the boys still on winter break, I haven’t had much quiet craft time. With that many squares, I am glad that clues will be every 2 weeks, rather than weekly.

I'm hoping that after I've completed a few that it will became a bit like autopilot. Half the issue with the first attempt is seeing how one row is setting up for the next or second next row. Plus whilst I've worked with multiple colours before this is different again!

Yes, with the popcorns and post stitches, in different colors no less, it will take a few before I will be able to not concentrate as hard.

I had a fabulous time helping with inventory at the LYS in my hometown! Hoping to go back and help some more when I’m there next week for an appointment. I ended up coming home with the Unity Major in Roller Skate, as expected: And yarn to match some stash yarn for an inspiration project. It’s over my head for now, but I’m hoping by the end of the year I can feel confident enough to start it. Name of the caked yarn colorway is Fireline. Pattern name is Fire (Name/design coordination is not an accident - I’m a little silly like that.) www.ravelry.com/projects/shoesnsocks/fireI also got 3 of my son’s requested 4 hunting hats done before they went back, and am now enjoying working on a comfort/mental health knit for me before I start something else.

Such lovely projects! Love the sharing! I’m going on a 7 day quilting retreat with some friends so hopefully will have lots to share when I return. Here is a Christmas gift, minus the border. The receivers are huge cat lovers and totally loved it.

The receivers are huge cat lovers and totally loved it. I love this. You are such a thoughtful gift giver - that is so special. elaine have you started the cal? I've done a test square, it's too big, I'm going down a needle size so still have 36 squares to do. I completed one square last night. I started up a hook size - 5.0 - and thank heaven that ended up being the right size for me. It took me 2 hours to do this one square. If I can’t speed it up, I may decide to bail on the CAL and use the yarn for something else. I can’t say that it was particularly enjoyable with so much swapping colors - too many times it seemed like every other stitch you were swapping. I will commit to making 6 squares before I decide whether to continue or not. Hopefully, I will get into the swing of things. I wish that there were charts to go along with the words, so I could see exactly where the post stitches start from and where to start stitching again after them.

elaine love your colour combo, I don't think we are alone with the learning curve on this square. I'm not on Facebook but had a look at the public Facebook page and there are a number of charts being added by some the crafters. I had to write row five and seven out in my own shorthand because I kept losing my place when I looked from the pattern to the yarn and back again. To anyone curious this square is only ten rows and it's quite a time thief. I've finished one square, I've seen others posting photos of ten sqs done. I'm going at my own pace, I'm doing it to relax not feel stressed!

Many are from the Jewel colorway, but I swapped out the pale rose for that bright aqua (that I didn’t like). I’m glad to hear that we aren’t alone - I’ll go check out FB and download a chart. I, too, kept losing my place - I can’t figure out exactly why I was having such a hard time and it was so slow going. It isn’t as though I haven’t been crocheting almost non-stop for a couple of years now.

Beautiful work ladies. You all are inspiring me to dig out my knitting needles and crochet hooks but it's been so long I'm not sure I'd remember how. There is You tube and so many craft blogs out there now it's so easy to find help to refresh your memory. I have also found more projects than I could ever finish in a lifetime too!

Thank you for your kind words. Good eye on the fabric, I’m not a fan of such bright colors as his but every single time I gift a quilt with his line, the receiver is in love. 💜

Craft disaster space is good enough. Not perfect but good enough. Time to get my craft on! First up are 2 bankers bags for the safe at work. I'm tired of taking the time to open every damn bag trying to figure out which one is mine. They're going to be BRIGHT fabrics with yellow and pink zippers. LOL
