Kyle Griffin... ”Breaking via NYT: Trump told John Bolton in August that he wanted to continue freezing security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens, according to an unpublished manuscript by Bolton.” At one point are the Republicans going to dump trump and try and save themselves. Why would they? There won't be any penalty for sticking with him. They have made their bed and are happily laying in it.

Matthew Miller..
”So obviously a vote to not subpoena Bolton is a vote for a cover up. But even beyond that, a vote to acquit Trump when Bolton is blowing a hole in his defense and laying the facts bare is a vote to endorse presidential abuses on the grossest scale.”

So they have been able to plan their defense around it!! Bolton is no better then trump. He has abandoned the United States for money!! I certainly hope no one here buys he book unless he has appeared in public. It is ok to print the info but not ok to tell it under oath. So much for honesty! ET: to add insult to injury, Bolton went to BARR and told him about the skeem and told BARR that he was in the phone call etc! They are all dishonest, liars and truly hate the United States and our freedoms!

I'm 1000% sure we know the answer to that!!

They are all dishonest, liars and truly hate the United States and our freedoms! Maybe those in the know in the WH were hoping that they could just quickly push everything through before anyone outside of the WH knew what was in the book? Seems they’ve been in a really huge rush to just hurry up and get this whole thing over with. I hope it’s looking less and less likely that will happen with all the recent stuff being spilled by Parnas and now this. After all the stuff I read over the weekend about Barr, that guy is as sleazy as they come so it’s no wonder why he was chosen as AG again at this particular time and by this particular president. Dude is the lead string puller and chief fixer of the cleanup crew that they send in when shit gets really messy, and he was right there in the thick of all of it. I can’t believe more people aren’t screaming for him to to recuse himself.

”Important article on the rules governing impeachment: "The Democrats’ impeachment managers should immediately ask the chief justice to issue subpoenas for key witnesses and documents...That’s his prerogative—and his responsibility..."
This got even more interesting real fast.

"Take her out" is not fire her! That's mob talk! One of the most prominent and disturbing elements of Donald Trump's character (or lack thereof) is his tendency to embrace the language and behavior of mafia dons. He regards himself as an infallible and unchallengeable force who demands total obedience and blind loyalty. This weekend Trump displayed that mob boss fixation on several occasions. The recording of him telling Lev Parnas to "take out" U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovich was chilling to hear. Trump gave orders to Parnas, a shady figure with ties to Rudy Giuliani and Ukrainian politicos, to "Get rid of her! Get her out tomorrow. I don't care. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. OK? Do it." Trump's apologists in Congress and on Fox News dismiss this as being within the President's power to fire an ambassador. That's true, but then either he fires her or he instructs his Secretary of State to do so. Parnas has no government role or authority to terminate the employment of an American diplomat. So what did Trump mean and why would he assign this mission to such a fringe player who is currently under felony indictment? ** Trump's foul and menacing behavior is notable not only for its similarity to that of a mob boss. It represents an imminent danger to innocent people in politics and the press. Past episodes of this rhetoric has resulted in actual bomb threats and other attempted violence. And the scary part is that that is precisely what Trump wants. He is a bully who believes that he can get his way through threats and intimidation. It actually fits the legal definition of terrorism. If he isn't stopped he will only get worse. That's why his impeachment is so urgent. Even if he were to be defeated at the ballot box in November, that would give him 77 days to exact revenge on those he deemed to have betrayed him. That's a risk that American can't afford. ** www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/1/26/1914292/-Trump-s-Inner-Mob-Boss-Emerges-with-Alarming-New-Threats-to-Politicians-and-the-Press?utm_campaign=trendingBTW: it is not just 77 days as mentioned in the last paragraph, it is a YEAR from now for him to continue what he is doing!

Roberts has the power to call witnesses? I’m not sure that’s entirely correct. Even if it is, the Senate has the power to overrule by simple majority. And the rules package was already voted in. But, hey, if it is correct I wish he would, though I doubt he will. My guess is that he’ll just be another Rehnquist (his mentor) in the impeachment trial.

And the Supreme Court, sort of or otherwise, has no bearing in an impeachment trial. In an impeachment trial, the presiding officer (Roberts) is not the judge. The judge is the Senate. And like I said, the rules package had already been voted in. Do you really see Roberts usurping that to side with Democrats? I truly hope I’m wrong, but I cannot see Roberts taking it upon himself to go against the rules the GOP voted for.

Even with this new Bolton book, the GOP Senators will vote in lock step with the supreme leader. I'm convinced they give zero fucks about their constituents.
There is something (money, promises from a foreign interest that the GOP will be guaranteed free rein and they'll be protected from consequences, skeletons in EVERYONE's closets, threats to their families?) that has them all acting with a hive mind and we'll find out what is it someday. Whether that day comes soon enough is the question.
We see these other countries with mass protests that finally force change and action. Geographically, it's hard for us to do. We all want to stay employed, travel isn't free, cheap or easy and we hope someone else is representing us. What is it going to take to tip the scale?

IF the Senate should issue a subpoena for Bolton, doesn't he have the power to rule on validity? Yes, the 51 could vote against him, but would they risk it?
I of course am not a lawyer, don't even play one on TV!! I guess I am putting pieces of things I have heard and getting them all mixed up with wishful thinking!!

“A more psychological definition of gaslighting is "an increasing frequency of systematically withholding factual information from, and/or providing false information to, the victim - The victim? The American People.
And so the gaslighting begins. From the delayed a Republican Press Conference..
ABC News..

Yes, we know they met at the UN. There is huge difference between meeting at the UN and the OVAL office in the view of the world! and AT that UN meeting between the two of them, apparently Zelensky did ask, "so, how about about scheduling that WH meeting?" So Zelensky certainly didn't feel the UN meeting fulfilled what was promised him. A meeting in the WH was still being withheld. ABC News.. ”GOP Sen. John Barrasso dismisses report on Bolton book: "I think there's going to be something new coming out every day, very similar to what we saw in the Kavanaugh trial. New information, old information told in a different way to enflame emotions." abcn.ws/2GrlBwT” ^^^ that didn't mean the information coming out wasn't true- but they never cared enough to find OUT if any of it was true. In fact, they actually did NOT want to find out (in case it was true). The phrase "to inflame emotions" makes it sound like none of it was actually true... that it was just a ploy to get people upset.

”Here’s a scenario: 1. House Managers invoke Rules VII & XXIV to ask the CJ to subpoena Bolton & all relevant documents 2. CJ Roberts issues subpoena 3. Trump lawyers realize Senate can’t overrule this order 4. Trump sues Roberts in DC district court 5.

Rule VII provides that rulings can be challenged by any member of Senate which will trigger a formal vote. Rule XXIV also provides mechanism for objection and voting. But, never mind. I don't think it really matters. Maybe Roberts will surprise everybody, but I doubt it. If he did not even enforce the rules of behavior in chamber (senators walking in and out, going on TV while hearing is going on, playing with toys, etc) what is the expectation he would issue subpoenas?

Susan Hennessey...
”Nobody currently in the Senate chamber believes for even one minute that the president had "deep policy concerns." Not one single person. They know it. We know it. They know we know it.”
The idea that trump has any “deep concerns” about anything is pretty funny.

I have become despondent over this. Even if they call their witnesses and they are allowed to testify, their minds are already made up. Trump is their guy, they are going to ignore every shred of damning evidence against him because they want 4 more years of power. They will protect him at all costs.
There is no use in any of this.

Starr: Impeachment is outdated. Uk dropped it. I say: the UK can call an elections as needed, which does show no need for impeachment. Starr: DOJ says 'Mr President don't give up the papers' Ah I say, but Mr Starr, you got over 90,000 documents from Clinton! And yes Clinton lied, but it was about a bow job.
Starr: just said that the House has run away with power............. Um What the hell does he think the GOP Senators have done?!?!?!?!

Although even another republican would not wield the power he has!! There are several groups helping to fund Amy McGrath. I won't deny that I have sent a few small donations too.
