Reminder. So many on that list who need to GO already. If the past few years haven't shown that the time has come for term limits, nothing will.

”Alan Dershowitz's list of presidents who have been accused of abuse of power:
George Washington John Adams Thomas Jefferson John Quincy Adams James Polk Abraham Lincoln Jimmy Carter Ronald Reagan George H. W. Bush Barack Obama
He says abuse of power is a "political weapon."
Now I understand why Bette Mildler tweeted this...
”How many of you are screaming "BULLSHIT!!" at the TV as #AlanDershowitz pretzels himself in front of us to defend the odious Trump! None of the leaders Dershowitz has the gall to mention, were actually criminals, like this one is!! LET JOHN BOLTON SPEAK!!”

Is anyone listening to Dershowitz?
OMG, a flood of words, with almost no pauses between sentences. I can’t even take in most of it, and I wonder how much the senators are hearing of what he is saying. It just is so much "blah, blah, blah."

”Dershowitz goes there, after the rest of Trump's defense team virtually ignored it all day long:
"Nothing in the Bolton revelations, even if true, would rise to the level of an abuse of power or an impeachable offense."
Ok, then let us hear what Bolton has to say to see if we agree with you or not. It’s just that simple.

What? I like Tribe but how did he figure this? Rule VII provides that rulings can be challenged by any member of Senate which will trigger a formal vote. Rule XXIV also provides mechanism for objection and voting. But, never mind. I don't think it really matters. Maybe Roberts will surprise everybody, but I doubt it. If he did not even enforce the rules of behavior in chamber (senators walking in and out, going on TV while hearing is going on, playing with toys, etc) what is the expectation he would issue subpoenas? "But it turns out they don’t get to make that choice — Chief Justice John Roberts does. This isn’t a matter of Democrats needing four “moderate” Republicans to vote for subpoenas and witnesses, as the Trump lawyers have been claiming. Rather, the impeachment rules, like all trial systems, put a large thumb on the scale of issuing subpoenas and place that power within the authority of the judge, in this case the chief justice. Most critically, it would take a two-thirds vote — not a majority — of the Senate to overrule that. This week, Democrats can and should ask the chief justice to issue subpoenas on his authority so that key witnesses of relevance like John Bolton and Mick Mulvaney appear in the Senate, and the Senate should subpoena all relevant documents as well. It doesn’t matter. The Senate has adopted ground rules that were already voted in. It is only after the senators have asked their questions of both the House managers and Trump’s lawyers that the Senate will begin arguments to decide motions to subpoena. I’m not making this up. Those are the rules. I mean, think about it…if getting Bolton, etc to testify is just a matter of appealing to the presiding officer to issue subpoenas, then what are we wasting our efforts on trying to persuade four Republicans to vote with Democrats?

”Dershowitz opened by saying he favored Nixon's impeachment. So he's now saying that he would have opposed convicting him on the main article against him--abuse of power. Which is it, pal?”

"Nothing in the Bolton revelations, even if true, would rise to the level of an abuse of power or an impeachable offense." They had all pointed out that dt and other presidents have withheld approved funds. Yes, that is correct, but others did and dt did in other incidents, THEY TOLD CONGRESS and the SENATE. dt didn't tell he withheld the funds 'for cause' , he in fact told no one, outside his inner circle, and when asked later LIED about it!

Carol Lee from NBC News is stating the Bolton dropped off one book to the WH, he believes that someone has made numerous copies. Publisher gave book in good faith and the system has been corrupted. No idea where the ' original' book is!
All the more reason to not believe that only the NSC read it to check for security issues.

Kelly said if the reporting on what Bolton wrote is accurate, he believes Bolton: "If John Bolton says that in the book I believe John Bolton."

”I totally support @senatorlankford's proposal that the Bolton manuscript be made available to the Senate, if possible, in a classified setting where each Senator has the opportunity to review the manuscript and make their own determination.”
Why in a “classified setting”. Hasn’t the manuscript been leaked?
Talk about a cover up.

Maybe they could try and pay Bolton off, too! for his silence this time, though. (is DT that stupid? I'm not sure. He'll probably threaten him, instead.)

Why doesn't Trump have to testify in the trial? because he doesn't want to, and no one can make him, apparently. This is a situation they have NEVER seen before- the obstruction charge and his refusal to allow ANY WH officials to provide ANY paperwork or testimony. He's even blocked people with "executive privilege" (that isn't *really* executive privilege-- he's just saying it is). They're in a catch-22, with no way to get past it. The Congress has oversight over the Executive Branch, but the Executive Branch says *nope* and they can't really take it to the Supreme Court, because they're staying out of it- the third branch of government has never gotten in between the middle of the other two. (if I'm understanding it all correctly) There also has never been a situation quite like this, where apparently the Senate is hell-bent on just acquitting him without any pretense of wanting to pursue the actual *truth* of the matter. The House HAS the Constitutionally-granted right to perform oversight and to pursue Impeachment as a remedy, but there has never been a situation before where the Executive branch (and apparently the Senate also) just won't comply. ETA: the Framers of the Constitution never counted on us actually electing someone so immoral and despotic, so they didn't provide for what to do in such a situation.

Republicans no longer deal with facts....

I think it went to the NSA to make sure there are no details in it that could be a threat to national security. I don't think Trump and his minions get to read it and say what has to be taken out. And if they did take out things that are important for the American public to know, surely Bolton would raise hell about that.
But who knows anything anymore.
