We were getting our contacts from 1-800-CONTACTS for a few years, and loved them, but this year we have been having issues with them. The customer service is very friendly, but we have been waiting on our March 13th order and each time I call they tell me something different. We paid extra for faster shipping because I worried they would be forced to shut down at some point.
Is there is another mail order service that is recommended? I do want to give them another chance because they are so friendly, and they usually we get orders quickly. I ordered for all 4 of us at once this time, so that could be the problem. Usually I just do one at a time. My prescription runs out in May, and I don't know when our eye dr. will open.

I use Walgreens online for my contacts. You can always google to find a coupon for at least 20% off, sometimes more.

I use Costco.
My eye doc also sent a message saying to avoid wearing contacts, but I am not taking that advice.

Avoiding wearing contacts is another way not to touch your face.
As for 1800contacts, they are likely inundated right now, observing extra precautions, and using a shipping comlany that us also observing extra precautions. They also may need to get your rx from the eye doc office and if they are closed...

I saw something on CNN that said you should not wear contacts now. This is ridiculous. They say it’s because contact lens wearers supposedly touch their face more than glasses wearers. That’s just anecdotal and an example of fear generating journalism. As an ex-journalist, I truly shake my head at this. I have gotten my contacts from coastal.com, lens.com, and contactsdirect.com before, depending on who had the best offer. I wear a super high prescription and use Biofinity Torics. I’ve never had any issues getting my contacts quickly with any of these sites.

Besides, if you wear contacts, you know to wash your hands prior to putting them in your eye or taking them out — and it is something you were doing daily, prior to COVID. As someone who has worn contacts since middle school, I can vouch for the fact that it legitimately hurts or feels very uncomfortable if your hands aren’t clean.

Telling me I can't wear my contacts during this is going too far.
I usually don't have a problem with my contacts showing up quickly from 1800contacts. There was a certain brand shortage a few (several?) years ago and I ended switching brands because of it.

They also may need to get your rx from the eye doc office and if they are closed... That's one thing I was worried about. We can't find a copy of my husband's prescription! They held up our entire families order because my husband's. I was worried it was because they eye dr. was closed and they couldn't confirm the prescription. They finally told me that it was because they were out of stock. So for the future, we will order everyone's contacts on a separate day if I continue to use them. Shipping will be higher, but at least we will get them (and not have to wait on anyone). I am trying to order us all a years worth because our prescriptions may expire before the eye doctor opens.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the recommendations and tips. I'm extra paranoid, but I want to make sure we have plenty of contacts to get us through until our eye dr. is able to open. And I bet it will be hard to get in for several weeks as they will reschedule appts. I realized that if we can't find copies or our prescriptions, we will have to use 1-800 because they have the prescription. But I will do price comparisons for what has been recommended. Thanks!

I touch my face 1000% more when wearing my glasses because I have to push the darned things up on my nose constantly.

I’m worried about mine because I get them from WM and the Vision Center is closed... I’m almost out with no glasses so idk what I’m going to do. I can’t see without them. Funny enough I was about to make an eye appt before the world ended.

I get mine cheapest from Walmart, but I do go in to pick them up. I don't think they ship them but I'm not sure.

I have a very old prescription in a pair of glasses that I've been meaning to update for years, but since I wear contacts every day I've let that slip by. I get my annual exam for my eyes every April but that will have to be postponed this year until this is all over. Right now I have 2 months left of my contacts so that will take me until the end of May.

Funny enough I was about to make an eye appt before the world ended. I wonder if you could call your eye dr and have them fax a prescription to you? 1-800-CONTACTS has something about a virtual eye exam, you may want to call them and see if they can help you out. They are very friendly when you call!
I hope everyone is understanding, and they can extend your prescription since we can't go to the eye dr. But if getting your prescription is the problem, that will be hard.

I am trying to get a 9 month supply (I wear daily disposable contacts) just in case (I am so paranoid about running out of contacts). I am just going to order another 3 month supply on Monday, then again on Tuesday.

They should make an exception to help us make it through! Let me know if you hear anything. I know how hard it would be to go without contacts and glasses. I'm pulling for you! I told my kids to very careful with their glasses so they don't break them. I hope the contacts I ordered for them come soon! I think now my kids will listen to me when I say we should go and order a back up pair of glasses!

I just got your message because I was offline due to a bad cold I got on Saturday. I read my email before coming here and my eye doctor posted an email saying they are now closed due to the virus but they have an emergency number and will re-evaluate come this Friday. I'm thinking they will have to do something to accommodate people with contact lens prescriptions who will run out of them-hopefully. I get that they want to protect the eye doctors-they can't do eye exams at this time-the doctors have to get too close and regular, annual ones can certainly wait. For myself, I was really hoping to get my eye exam done before I re-ordered new lenses because I can tell I need a new prescription. I wear 2 different scripts in each eye-one for nearness in one eye and one for distance in the other. Put them together and they equal bifocal lenses. My eye doctor did it this way last year because my reading lenses need can't be met anymore with my distance need in regular bifocal lens that are commercially available-although I did use those for several years. Basically it means I have to buy one box of each which means a large outlay of money. That's why I was hoping for a new script which means seeing my eye doctor and getting an exam when I run out (end of May) before ordering 2 new boxes.

I order mine from Costco.com.
You can insert a copy of your Rx with your order. My eye doctor has temporarily closed his office but is available for things like sending an Rx or emergency issues.
