We just hope we can use our boat this summer. We stay on it for weekends and a couple of weeks for summer vacation. We don't even have to take it out of the slip or interact with other people. But it is nice and relaxing on the lake. It is only an hour from our house. But right now the marinas are shut down and they aren't allowed to put the boats in the water for the season yet. We are not used to being home on summer weekends, so if we are, it will be quite different.
Thank goodness we had our 5 week Italy trip last spring! And it was fantastic. I planned it for a long time and we had to put it off for a few years when my father in law got sick.

The reason we're ready to hit the road as soon as we can: We will rent a car, drive from SW Florida to mid-Mississippi, board Amtrak to Chicago, change trains, Amtrak to Portland OR. I don't fly and we've done the round trip road trip twice. We'll do a combo of rental car/train on the way back. We would like to return to Yellowstone, see Arches or Zion, see my mother, son and DIL and my brother and family in TN. We're retired so no reason to hurry. I just want to get my hands on the new DGD and her brother and sister. Damn virus.

We are supposed to go to the beach in July. Our condo is "open", the building isn't "enclosed". We have an elevator, but we usually take the stairs. No lobby, we open the door from "outside". I have no other way to explain this! If the beaches are open, and things are better, we will probably go (my husband will insist on going). We would sit where less people are, and can avoid the boardwalk. We would just do our weekly grocery store trip (it's across the street) while we are there. Of course if there are still a lot of cases, and the beach is closed, we won't go. We have plans to go to the beach condo in mid August. Ours too has exterior hallways. Right now, DH isn't sure he wants to go. At this point I want to go even if it is to sit on the balcony and look at the beach.

We are dealing with the fact that we will be unlikely to be able visit our place in Maine this summer. *sigh*

We are dealing with the fact that we will be unlikely to be able visit our place in Maine this summer. *sigh* I'm reading a series of cozy mysteries set on the coast of Maine right now. The main character owns a clambake business, I've never had a desire to go but reading these books makes me want to visit!

Someday... www.goodreads.com/series/102900-maine-clambake-mysteryMaine Clambake mystery series by Barbara Ross. They're a fun, light read. My bar is set by whether or not I know who the killer is by the middle of the book. If I don't then I'm in for the next one. So far, they've been enjoyable.

I truly have no idea. We had a trip to Europe planned next month for DD's college graduation and I think it might be more than a year before we can reschedule. Plus, we had scheduled it immediately after grad because who knows when she could take time off once she gets a job. We were also in the early stages of planning a Southern California trip over the holidays, with Disney and other touristy stuff, but I don't think that's realistic, either. One of my favorite time-wasters is planning trips and learning about those places, so it's frustrating to have no idea when we can take a trip again. At least you’ll be well planned when you can go.

bethany102399Even if you delay until 2021, I can see face masks being required at the parks for a very long time. These aren’t minimal changes that will be made- some of the changes will be long term.

We had a huge family trip to Alaska scheduled in late July. I don't think we'll be able to convince other family members to go. I dont' know if you could convince me, to be honest. I don't want this trip to kill my mom TBH, or any of my family members.

We are supposed to go to the beach in late August with some friends. I can totally see DH being okay with it, and me not so much. You might hear the yelling.

Why is wearing a mask such a big deal? Yes, it is hot there and it isn't a fun thing to have to do but I see this as being socially responsible. The park can only do so much to clean and check their employees. Even if they check temperatures of guests, there are so many people running around asymptomatic (25% estimate by the CDC and 50% by Iceland's study) that I think having their guests wear masks would make everyone more confident about being there.
I had hoped to go some new places this year and had a couple of destinations in mind. Right now all I want to do is get to the beach in early fall. I don't think things will be opened up enough to go before it gets too hot this summer. We stay in a condo, don't use the pool, mostly walk on the beach and ride bikes. None of these things put us that close to other people as long as I travel a little further down the beach to set up my chair. I always enjoy going to various restaurants but not being able to do that would not stop me from going for at least a few days.

So no just sitting on the sand. My DH is worried about the room not being cleaned properly and we pick up the virus off of something in the room (which has never been in issue in the past)

I haven’t taken a nice vacation in the past two years. In 2018, son’s lung collapsed spontaneously. So no flying and no high altitudes. So we cancelled those summer trips Last spring, husband got a severe case of something that caused vertigo-like symptoms. All of our summer plans went out the door, because he couldn’t go anywhere. So this year, we had not yet made plans, but were definitely going SOMEWHERE. Now we’re not, and it does suck. We won’t even chance it.

We will see. My parents were going to do something for their 50th anniversary. They will likely delay it.
We will also delay our buying trip. We try to go to MO in May.

My summer vacation is always driving from Texas to our cottage in western Michigan. I don't want to be a drain on the small community, so it's a wait and see. Usually my husband's family goes there, too.

DD14 and I have a deposit on Princess Cruises for mid-August, a brand new ship embarking in June - going from Rome to Athens with points in between there Italy and Greece. We were going early to spend time in Rome, and same in Athens at the end of the trip, with a 6 hour layover in Paris where we hoped to see the Eiffel Tower. Now new ship or not, I know we are 99% not going, but since it was a small deposit and they've moved back the date of the remainder of the payment, I'm just holding and haven't done anything.. I've gotten 4 emails where they have upgraded us - now to the nicest mini-suite.
We will try to transfer the deposit to a similar cruise next August and hope for the best.

I'm in Central Florida and wearing a mask now is hard in the heat. I don't see how people will be able to do it at the theme parks in August heat without passing out.

We have a week long camping trip in Missouri planned in September. We are kayaking the current river. I really hope things are back to some sense of normal, but I won’t hold my breath. If we have to cancel it will be fine. But I’m really looking forward to that week of kayaking.

Not UNTIL THERE IS A VACCINE or herd immunity. Please... note this is serious, more serious than you may comprehend. Let all pray the virus does not "drift" or worse yet "shift" into a more deadlier strain during a second wave.
It is not just going to disappear, it will take at least a year and quite possibly two!
pray for a vaccine
Please do research, study the Spanish Flu

I doubt very much that your cruise will take place. One of the reasons we were told that we should expect to vacation at home this year, and not plan on going to other European countries was that most nearby countries - Italy, Greece, France and Spain were specifically mentioned - would not be ready for large scale tourism to begin again this summer.

We don't have anything planned until the week before Christmas. We have plane tickets and reservations at Aulani on Oahu. This is our traditional week-before-Christmas destination (although we didn't go last year due to when the holiday fell). I hope things are back on track at that point.
