Do you have a hard line in the sand, such as a vaccine? or are you more wait and see case by case?
We have plans to go to Universal in August. They were for the end of May, beginning of June. I moved to August not long before Universal announced they'd be closed until May 31st.
Of course, with the huge community around both Disney and Universal there is plenty of speculation about when, and more importantly, HOW the parks will re-open. Temperature checks, hand sanitizer stations, extra sanitizing of the rides, closure of water parks, and lastly asking guests to wear masks.
That last one made me stop cold. I'll wear a mask to the grocery store, but if they're still needed at the amusement park level (for all guests, I'm not talking about someone who for their own reasons feels they need to wear one) then that to me says we're not ready for the crowds, but we're desperate to get the parks open.
I mentioned to DH yesterday that if this winds up being the case that's enough cause for me to say I'm willing to delay until 2021. He flipped his switch and started yelling. I think it's more due to stress of the shelter in place order and his frustration at having our lives disrupted to the extent they are. I let him vent then dropped it.
Of course all of this is wait and see, but it made me curious what is your line in the sand for traveling to a tourist hot spot.

We will go as soon as anything is open.
We have not cancelled our 3 planned summer trips. If they are open, we will go.

I don’t know, really. I have a deposit for a 3 week tour mid September. Right now the tour company has cancelled all tours through June. I really need to see how things develop before making a decision. I don’t necessarily believe businesses will have their customers best interests in mind when they reopen. They are more concerned about their own bottom line.

My aunt is 92, and I am hoping to go in late July to see her, that is my big trip, California to Massachusetts. I will be watching the news, and I will cancel, if needed. I don't want to be the niece that killed auntie. When I go, I go to stay and visit with her. We go out to lunch and dinner, and drive around. She lives by herself, but she likes to go out to eat and I enjoy hearing the stories about my mom and her siblings.

I don’t know. We had a cruise planned for sprig break which was obviously cancelled, we rescheduled for late June, that’s now been cancelled so I’m not sure what we’re doing. I’d still like to go at some point but not sure dh agrees (he didn’t want to go in the first place). Dh suggested a road trip out west......I told him to table that idea, after spending months locked in the house together I’m not sure I’m up for a 2 week cross country road trip 😳. So right now we’re in a holding pattern.

I don’t know, it’s something we are talking about at home as well. We are both high risk for several reasons, and he works in a nursing home.
His mom is very, very social and I know this must be very hard for her. She’s recently (past couple of weeks) planned a beach trip for July in a shared beach house for the entire immediate family. That’s 12 people, 4 of them children. I’m assuming she’s not talking cousins, who are usually invited. That’d be another 17. His side of the family's motto is “it’ll be fine” and from talking with her I know they didn’t initially take the measures we felt necessary, and that our opinions on this differ. Which is fine, but doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about sharing a house with them for a week. And I know if we don’t go there’ll be talk behind our backs about how paranoid I am. Lovely. At this point, we are leaning towards not going, but are taking a “wait and see” approach.

We were told this week not to plan on summer vacation anywhere outside of Germany, not even other European countries. For travel further afield, the current advice is not before this time next year at the earliest. DH and I have decided we are staying at home this year.
All of our family is in Australia - we are resigned to the fact that we won't get back home again before Christmas 2021.

I’m really hoping we can still travel this summer - not flying but road trips. I want to do our trip to the high Sierra in Yosemite (which isn’t crowded like the valley) and I want to do a road trip through the four corners. We have Yellowstone booked for early June but I’m assuming that is off and will probably cancel anyway. I think it will be winter before I even think about flying anywhere.
Does anyone have any prediction of when road trips will be ok? I’m hoping early June

I haven't cancelled my end of June trip yet. We could still go and stay away from crowds, I think. Not sure I want to fly out west for a family reunion and it's a bit too far for me to drive. We haven't purchased airline tickets. I kept putting it off in the fall and I'm glad I did.

Our milestone birthday trip to Africa has been canceled and will not be possible until next summer. Our daughter is getting married on October 3. It's already a small wedding as she's notoriously introverted, but her dream is to take her fiance to her favorite place, the Big Island. I'm worried they'll be having a George Bailey type honeymoon.
And my sis and I are supposed to do the Disney Wine & Dine 1/2 marathon in November. I'm not so sure that will happen.
I should've been flying to Seattle this week to see my DS & DDIL. That was a tough blow. I miss DS's big bear hugs.

We had planned to be in California in late May and that was canceled. Jackson Hole in June has been canceled. So I think we are laying low until Fall (most likely October). In October we have a wedding in Dallas, A&M Football, and our annual trip to Malibu. Thanksgiving will be in College Station for football. The only place we may go before October is Las Vegas - we had plans to be there in early April for a friends Bday, so that could be rescheduled.
DH isn't as worried about traveling after June. I am not so sure.

I truly have no idea. We had a trip to Europe planned next month for DD's college graduation and I think it might be more than a year before we can reschedule. Plus, we had scheduled it immediately after grad because who knows when she could take time off once she gets a job.
We were also in the early stages of planning a Southern California trip over the holidays, with Disney and other touristy stuff, but I don't think that's realistic, either.
One of my favorite time-wasters is planning trips and learning about those places, so it's frustrating to have no idea when we can take a trip again.

We are taking a wait & see attitude, but won't be booking anything for 2021 until the last quarter of this year. Our travel plans for this year had included a trip in late Sept/early Oct to Hawaii, but I'm not thinking that is going to happen this year. Since we rarely book anything more than 2 months out, there is no money tied up for which we are thankful. There was a wedding in late July in Colorado we did have room reservations for, but I cancelled those earlier this week. Once the MOH (DD) cancelled her flight, I knew it wasn't happening. They are planning a smaller local wedding on their wedding date, and hope to have the reception in CO the middle of August. DH & I won't attend that most likely.

I’m still researching and planning though - and now I am more into learning the history and cultural significance of where we go - I’m reading books on the Pueblo people of the four corners, all the amazing sites in the area and also reading about the mesoamerican cultures of southern Mexico - for when we can fly again

And I have to say - as long as my high school senior can start college out of state in August I will be one happy camper - he is soooo ready to go!

One month from today we were supposed to be leaving for a 2 week trip to Europe to celebrate 3 milestone birthdays and 2 graduations. We will reschedule it for next May and hope there is a vaccine by then. If there is no vaccine, but no big outbreaks by then, then I will feel totally comfortable traveling May 2021. But if it's like this May is going to be, then there is no way we would travel.

We're on the fence as well. Our Ireland trip in Mar got cancelled. Hopefully that will happen next spring break. We have tickets to London in late Sept for a 3 week stay in England. Not sure if it will happen. Normally I would have accommodations already set, but we haven't even thought about it yet.

Some collages are already planning for distance-learning until Spring semester, I’m not sure how much it has caught on though. I think all schools need to plan for it just in case. Especially since another wave is possible.

We have nothing planned. I would possibly be open to a vacation in the early fall (in the US) depending on how things are looking.

I had been as a teen and wanted my kids to see it. It was such a great trip. We took a day and drove down to four corners and then over to Farmington, New Mexico which also has a site to visit. It's small but still interesting. And not crowded. If you pass it, stop at the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado. It's really cool. But windy. Take protection, it can be like you are being sandblasted. The turn off is between Alamosa and Walsenburg.

I was just about to book our cabin for our northern Minnesota trip in July when things started getting shut down. I wanted to go ahead and book it (naively not realizing how long it would continue on...) but DH said we should wait. I'm pretty sure he was worried about the financial part, not whether or not we would be able to go. I still want to go and would consider it because even though it's the busy time, it would be easy to be spread out.

We have two trips planned. One I think might be ok. That's a family trip to Hilton Head mid July. We drive, not fly. So hopefully? If not, we have until mid June to get our house rental deposit back.
Dh and I have a trip planned with another couple for a long weekend in CA in mid August. Dh has always wanted to see California and I have always wanted to visit Disneyland (vs WDW which I've been to several times). Our friends are HUGE Disney freaks so dh and the other husband planned it and it was a surprise for us women. BUT they didn't get travel insurance and the flights and hotel are already paid for. I keep telling him to call the travel agent and see if we can get something back etc but he's convinced we can still go. I'm not at all sure it will be safe and the thought of flying and and busy theme park makes me very nervous. So we're waiting and seeing on that too.

We're trying to figure out now a Plan B for a vacation this summer. We were suppose to be in Italy/Greece early June, but that's been cancelled. We're contemplating trying Hawaii before my daughter goes to college in the Fall (knocks on wood).

We are supposed to go to the beach in July. Our condo is "open", the building isn't "enclosed". We have an elevator, but we usually take the stairs. No lobby, we open the door from "outside". I have no other way to explain this!
If the beaches are open, and things are better, we will probably go (my husband will insist on going). We would sit where less people are, and can avoid the boardwalk. We would just do our weekly grocery store trip (it's across the street) while we are there.
Of course if there are still a lot of cases, and the beach is closed, we won't go.

I plan to do mostly driving scenic routes so hopefully we'll be good to go if we head that direction late July. It's the flying vs. driving that's the catch. 30 hours or so one way is a bit much for me. LOL

Dh and I have been talking about this too. Usually the weekend before school starts (mid-August) we go to Minneapolis or Omaha for the weekend and go clothes shopping. Since dd will be a senior this year we were thinking of going to the Dells or KC for a long weekend. Even if they are open idk if I feel it would be a good idea.
