Kyle Griffin.. ”Inbox: Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have sent a letter to Trump requesting his administration prepare to fly flags at half staff on all public buildings in the country on the day America's COVID-19 death toll reaches 100,000 lives.” this is a lovely idea... and because it comes from 'the Dems' I don't think Trump will agree to do it. Trump won’t do it because it is a public admission of his failure to adequately deal with the pandemic. He will view it as making him look bad, so will never in a million years do it.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US: 1,635,192 Number of deaths: 97,495
A reminder, as of March 10, 2020 there were 23 confirmed deaths from COVID-19.
Number of US deaths from the Vietnam War : 58,220 Number of US deaths from the Korean War: 128,650 Number of US deaths from WWII: 291,557
This country has passed the number of deaths from the a Vietnam war, we are on our way of passing US deaths from the Korean War. I guess the question is, will we pass the number of deaths from WWII before the virus is brought under control?
Its going to happen if this continues..
ABC News..
”As the #coronavirus pandemic and Memorial Day Weekend collide, viral videos from across the country are showing social distancing "offenders" celebrating the holiday weekend. This was yesterday in Daytona Beach, Florida. abc7ne.ws/2ZzOZMi”

I think in 2-3 days the US will move up a place in the world standings of deaths per million: right now the US is just below Ireland but at approx 107,000 deaths the US will surpass Ireland’s death per million rate.

According to World-o-meter USA: 100,103 and Brazil : 23,622. www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/Brazil doesn’t even come close in # of deaths per 1 million in the population - a figure that shows percentage of population. USA has 303 per 1million people and Brazil has 111 per 1 million people.

Confirmed cases of COVID-16 in the United States: 1,697,835 Confirmed deaths from COVID-16 in the United States: 100,116
Confirmed deaths from COVID-16 in the World: 351,666
This country has 4% of the world population but yet this country has about 29% of the total reported deaths from COVID-19 in the world.
Yes these numbers are fluid and in some cases suspect. But they are the numbers we have.
And for this country they are unacceptable. We are not some third world country with limited resources. What we are is a superpower with failed national leadership. The incompetence of this national leadership has resulted in deaths of American Citizens that didn’t have to happen and shouldn’t have happen.
The national leadership in this country has made it very clear what is important to them at this time.

A reminder of what happened today..
Maddow Blog.
”Vice President Mike Pence encouraged governors on Monday to adopt the administration’s explanation that a rise in testing was a reason behind new coronavirus outbreaks, even though testing data has shown that such a claim is misleading."

Looks like I need to bring this back.
July 24, 2020
Number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. 4,081,401 Number of confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the U.S. 145,601
Number of cases of COVID-19 in the world. 15,554,527 Number of confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the world 634,709
The United States has 4% of the total world population.
The United States has 26% of the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the world.
The United States has 23% of the total confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the world.
May 8 was when I started this thread and there were 1,258,609 confirmed cases of the virus and 76,826 deaths.
According to John Hopkins Hospital on March 10 there were 647 confirmed cases of the virus and 23 confirmed deaths.
This is suppose to be the richest country in the world yet these number reflect numbers you would expect to see from one of the poorest countries in the world.

Kyle Griffin..
”The coronavirus surge in the United States is so extreme that, once adjusted for population, 10 states are recording more new cases than any country in the world.”

These numbers are horrifying and make me hurt for your country... but I think what seems even worse is just that a few days ago the man in Orange held up a chart showing these numbers and proclaimed that the US has the best mortality rates in the world. Does he truly not understand that these high numbers mean MORE dead? Or does he just lie so much the blatant inaccuracy doesn’t even register to him — and how many of his sycophants blindly accept his “we’re the best at mortality” statement as a true badge of honour?

Our governor here in Washington announced yesterday that he was imposing some new restrictions, like closing the bars at 10PM. The responses on the tweet about it were truly dispiriting.
Honestly at this point I am worried that we will never get this behind us, even with new leadership, because so many Americans are invested in this being a hoax.
